Prep Baseball opened up the summer of 2025 evaluation season with multiple events at USA Baseball's National Training Center on Tuesday May 13th.  Two scout days combined with a Summer ID to bring 20 players, ranging from the 2026 - 2028 graduating classes.  Players were run through a full pro-style workout with Prep Baseball Scouts recording stats, metrics, and evaluating the players throughout the evening.

The workout began with a laser timed 60 yard dash.  10 yard and 30 yard splits were recorded using the VALD laser timing system as well.  Hitters then went through multiple rounds of BP with TrackMan capturing ball flight data off the bat.  Defensive workouts followed with each player working out at their defensive position, showcasing movement, arm path, release, carry and accuracy.  The day finished with pitchers throwing bullpens where TrackMan was again recording the ball flight data out of the hand.

The Team Carolina Summer ID provided an opportunity for high school players to update their Prep Baseball profiles as well.  Players evaluated are eligible for selection to Team Carolina events which include the NC/SC Border Battle, Future Games, Sr. Future Games, Jr. Future Games, Super Sophomore Games and the Top Prospect Games.

Young player with a youthful look.  Plenty of projection ahead.  Stands 5-foot-10, 160 pounds. Fundamentally sound player that seemed to be in athletic positions throughout the day. 1.76, 10yd split and a 4.11, 30yd split while running his 60.  Run times will continue to come down as he adds strength to the 5-foot-9, 145 pound build.  Defensive actions stood out.  Excellent feet with good rhythm between the hands and feet.  Confident hands and accurate arm.

Fastball ranged 90-92.  The breaking ball is explosive at 76-78, 3300rpm.  Around the zone, showed feel early in the bullpen before tuning the arm up to see if he could peak the fastball.  Just a 2027, Brutskiy is one of the top arms in the class.

Payton Webb RHP / OF / Reagan, NC / 2026

Lean, athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 177 pounds. Solid mover. Solid mover down the mound. Fastball up to 81.  Slider at 68-70 with sweeping action across the zone. Youthful frame that has maturation still ahead.  Setup for success as he continues to add strength to the frame.
