This weekend, Prep Baseball was in attendance for the conclusion of the Washington HS baseball season, as four 3A sides battled it out at Parker Faller Field in Yakima. All 3A games featured a ton of scoring and some great individual performances, with Mount Vernon ultimately winning a 3A state title. Below are scouting notes on some of the standout players from the weekend.

Mount Vernon

'25 SS/RHP Xavier Neyens (Oregon State Commit)
The top-ranked 2025 in the PNW and a player who looks increasingly likely to hear his name called in the first round of the MLB draft this summer, Neyens capped off his incredible high school career with a 3A title for Mount Vernon. The senior had his fingerprints all over both games over the weekend, both at the plate and on the mound. In the semifinal, Neyens went 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored, closing out the game with a 1-2-3 7th inning on the mound. Though seen as a position player moving forward, Neyens still sat 93-94 MPH on the mound in his short stint. In the title game, the imposing lefty bat was walked 4 times, 3 of those coming intentionally, and scored 4 runs as a part of the Bulldogs' offensive explosion. Neyens was also called upon to pitch much earlier, throwing the final 4 innings and striking out 3 batters to clinch the 14-6 victory. Neyens' high school career was capped in the best way possible, as he recorded the final strikeout to secure a well-earned state title for Mount Vernon.

'26 1B Bode Webb (Uncommitted)
One of Mount Vernon's best bats for large parts of the spring, Webb exploded at the plate this weekend. The power bat set the tone with a 2-run triple in the first inning of the semifinal, finishing 1 for 3 overall in game one. Webb immediately bested himself with an outstanding championship game performance, going 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 6 RBI. The lefty hit to all fields with authority while playing a sound first base defensively. After breaking out in a preseason look, Webb carried his momentum into the spring season, and will now be one of the better uncommitted power bats in the junior class this summer.

'25 OF/RHP Dylan Jacobs (Edmonds Commit)
The senior was yet another Bulldog with a great pair of games in their dominant trip to Yakima. Jacobs went 1 for 3 with a run scored in a semifinal game where there was less offense overall. The Edmonds commit then exploded in the championship game, going 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. Jacobs also got the start in the title game, going 2 innings with a FB sitting 85-87 MPH. The physical righty bat arguably had the moment of the tournament, capping off his high school career with a towering HR to LF in his final at-bat. Impressive all-around performance.

'25 OF Moises Lucatero (Skagit Valley Commit)
The tall, long-levered senior followed the trend of producing offensively in both contests with a better performance in the title game. Lucatero went 1 for 3 from the bottom of the order in game one, but really took off in game two, going 3 for 3 with 3 doubles overall. Lucatero scored all three times that he reached base in a great offensive game for MV. The righty DH'ed in both contests, but has the frame and skillset to stick in a corner OF spot at the next level.

'25 RHP/OF Brody Olmsted (Edmonds Commit)
The steady, dependable top arm for Mount Vernon turned in a quality start in his final outing of his high school career. The righty sat 84-86 MPH with the FB, paired with a SL at 73-75 MPH. Commanded both pitches well to the glove side. Limited damage and worked out of some big spots. Final line: 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R (2 ER), BB, 8 K. Olmsted will be a difficult arm to replace as a quality innings-eater for the entirety of this season.

'27 INF Reece Roberts (Uncommitted)
Roberts reached base a total of 4 times on the weekend while playing a quality second base in both games. The righty bat doubled and drove in 3 runs, finding success early in counts throughout. While the sophomore may be overshadowed at times by the standout upperclass talent, Roberts consistently produced in several looks this spring, and will really have the potential to be one of MV's key pieces moving forward.

Kennewick

'25 INF Dane Chavez (Washington State Commit)
The lefty really impressed from the leadoff spot, particularly in Kennewick's semifinal victory over Gig Harbor. Chavez finished 3 for 4 with a walk, scoring a pair of runs and adding an RBI in a great offensive showing. The senior helped set the tone in the Lions' two biggest innings, reaching base with nobody out in both the 7th and 8th innings. Chavez also largely shut down the GH offense in relief on the mound. The senior earned the W going 3.2 innings, allowing just 1 earned run while striking out 4 hitters. Though Chavez will almost certainly be a position player at the next level, he let his natural athleticism work on the mound, running his FB up into the mid 80's. Key player in helping Kennewick reach the title game.

'26 OF/LHP Dylan Mamiya (Uncommitted)
One of the better athletes in the Washington junior class, Mamiya reached base a total of 4 times across Kennewick's two games. The lefty bat stayed in the big part of the field for a pair of singles in the semifinal, including an RBI knock to help pad the lead late. Mamiya also covered ground well in CF and should continue to be a plus defender at the next level. Mamiya also got the start on the mound of the final game, and despite some tough results on the day he still flashed some potential moving forward. The lefty had a low-80's heater and a CB at 67-69 MPH as his two primary offerings. Exciting uncommitted junior to follow into the summer.

'25 INF Dierks Chavez (Columbia Basin Commit)
Despite hitting in the 9-hole, the senior was arguably the most consistent offensive performer across Kennewick's two games this weekend. The medium framed middle infielder went 1 for 2 with 2 walks, an RBI and 3 runs scored in game one, highlighted by the go-ahead single in extra innings. Chavez then went 2 for 2 with 3 RBI in the championship game, providing one of the few offensive bright spots for the Lions in the contest. Chavez also showed quick, twitchy MIF actions defensively.

'26 INF/RHP Trayce Teagle (Uncommitted)
Another Lion near the top of the order who filled up the stat sheet, Teagle got hot late in game one, finishing 3 for 5 with a run and RBI overall. The junior arm also got the start on the mound, flashing a three-pitch mix with a low-80's FB and working 4.1 innings of 3-run ball. Teagle was held hitless against some tougher arms in the final game, but did draw a walk from the DH spot. Key contributor should see an even bigger role next spring.

'26 OF Brady Mattson (Uncommitted)
Medium-framed righty produced at the plate in both contests, showcasing a simple approach with a taller posture through his swing process. Mattson totaled 4 hits over the weekend, going 2 for 5 with 2 RBI in game one, and 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored in game two. The junior showed developing athleticism in limited defensive action in the outfield. Another part of a strong junior class for Kennewick that will be a key player next season.

Ballard

'25 C Truitt Madonna (UCLA Commit)
One of the most dominant bats in the state this spring, Madonna ended his high school career with a great offensive showing, going 2 for 4 with a run scored from the leadoff spot for the Beavers. The righty showcased a polished, longer RH swing, driving balls to the wall multiple times. Madonna also moved well behind the plate defensively, limiting the run game for MV and stealing a few strikes with frames on the edges. Madonna finishes his senior season hitting .411 with 7 home runs, and should be an immediate D-1 contributor with potential pro upside moving forward.

'25 RHP Dylan Wallblom (San Diego Mesa Commit)
The senior arm turned in a real gritty complete game performance on the mound, mostly limiting the damage and keeping his team in it against a talented offense. FB was 84-86 MPH early but sat more 82-83 as the game went on. The senior showed poise after giving up a 3-spot in the first inning, largely shutting it down from there. Logged 9 K's in 6 innings of work. The senior also added a double and walked at the plate.

'25 OF Aiden DePaula (Skagit Valley Commit)
A big time performer in multiple playoff looks heading into this weekend, DePaula was a key piece for the Beavers and found a way to chip in against MV. The righty drove in the first run of the game for Ballard, finding a hole through the left side for an RBI single. DePaula finished 1 for 3 overall. The Skagit commit also had a fantastic season on the mound despite not pitching in the semi's, and will be sorely missed next season as a part of a loaded Ballard 2025 class.

'26 OF Miles Soja (Uncommitted)
Seen at multiple Prep Baseball showcases in the last year, Soja continued to show his solid game. The junior went 1 for 3 for Ballard including a line drive double later in the contest. Soja played LF in this look but has enough athleticism to play any of the 3 outfield spots. Soja features a patient approach at the dish with developing power, drawing more walks then strikeouts this season.

Gig Harbor

'25 1B Ethan Mar (Tacoma CC Commit)
The senior continued to show why he was the leading offensive player for the Tides this spring, finishing 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, a walk, and a run scored in his great offensive morning. Stockier 6'3 frame moves well at the plate, pulling a 2 RBI double to the wall as his offensive highlight of the game. Bat-first prospect showed some impressive flexibility, getting down low for a couple of nice picks at 1B defensively. Standout performer all spring.

'25 OF Daniel Porras (Uncommitted)
Athletic outfielder was seen at PNW State Games last summer and has provided some XBH juice from the middle of the order. Porras featured a lofted LH swing, finishing the game 2 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored. The senior worked some deep counts in this one, hitting to all fields to produce positive results. Smooth, longer strides in the outfield, making the routine play. Plus runner.

'25 SS Jayce Corley (Lassen CC Commit)
Smooth infielder has shown well in multiple looks this season. Lean, medium frame features soft hands and plenty of arm strength across the diamond. Corley also produced from the leadoff spot, finishing 2 for 5 with a pair of runs scored. Higher leg lift load with quiet hands result in adjustability and a flatter bat path at the plate. Key part of several senior bats that the Tides will need to replace next spring.

'26 RHP Jake Cuda (Uncommitted)
Cuda is one of three junior arms that have led the Gig Harbor team in innings this spring. The junior got the nod and pitched well in a starting role for a semifinal matchup. The righty worked through some control issues at times, allowing just 1 run in 5 innings, striking out 2 while allowing 3 hits. FB sat 80-83 MPH, mostly paired with a CB at 68-72 MPH and an occasional CH at 72 MPH. Tighter arm path with short extension down the mound. Battled to keep the lead for his team when he left the game.
