Unsigned Upperclass Spotlight: Cayman Sanchez
June 3, 2025
The high school season is coming to a close as players start to turn their focus towards the summer circuit. The 2025 preseason showcase schedule got started in January with the Utah Preseason ID that featured roughly 60 prospects. We follow up the Preseason ID with our marquee event ahead of the HS season, the prestigeous Utah Preseason All-State that featured roughly 130 prospects with a large crop of the top talent in the State participating.
Our staff has had eyes on over 190 players these past couple months and with summer just about to begin, there is still a ton of quality uncommitted talent on the board in Utah's upperclass group. Over this summer, our staff will begin highlighting some of these names in our Unsigned Upperclass Spotlight— some of the incoming Juniors and Seniors that need to be on coaches radar during the summer.
We continue our Top Uncommitted Upperclass Spotlight Series with '26 SS/RHP Cayman Sanchez . Sanchez is a legit two-way athlete who gets things done both on the mound and in the field. He put up some solid numbers and had a standout performance at the Future Games last year, and you can expect more of those performances to come this summer. This article will take a deeper dive into some of Sanchez's TrackMan metrics, VALD Performance data, scouting reports, and videos.

Scouting Report
Cayman Sanchez, Davis (UT), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP A staple at Prep Baseball Utah events. Sanchez is a former Future Games alum, who had a breakout year at the plate as sophomore at Olympus HS. Now at Davis HS and adds to a loaded team and will play SS. Surprising pop and can run and play defense, with the clock to play all 3 INF spots.
Body: 5-9, 155-pounds. Small compact strong build with twitch and Lb for Lb strength
Hit: RHH. Crouched semi open stance with a coil to the back side and gets the bat loaded into a compact locked and loaded position. Fires the know at the baseball and whips through contact. Fair chase help. Locks in for a good AB 66.4 mph bat speed with 13 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 87.4 mph. 30' max distance. Surprising pull side HR juice. Extra base hits are his game and can split the gaps in both directions.
Arm: RH. INF-81 mph. Can throw avg for a SS, above for a 2B. The arm works properly and is accurate across the diamond
Defense: Smooth hands and loose wrist, allow for soft hands. Makes the routine plays and comes in nicely with the ability to throw from multiple arm angles.
ATH: 6.89 runner in the 60. Has really improved his 60 time nd has cut it from 7.1 to 6.89 and is an instinctive baserunner and will go 1st to 3rd and 1st to home on an extra base hit
Vizual Edge: 83.86 Edge Score
A staple at all invite events since the 8th grade, Sanchez is a baseball player that has a good feel for the game and doesn’t do one thing great, but is a sum of all parts type player. A smaller lean athletic type that may have reached his ceiling in height, yet still has his man strength to come. Able to bounce around to 3 INF spots and is most suited moving forward at the next level at the keystone position of 2B, as an offensive, shoot the gaps type, that has LD power to carry and lift the ball out to the pull side. A very good sophomore year at Olympus as he hit .359 5 22 with 12 2B’s and looks to add to that total as he continues to gain added strength with age. A solid base to hit from and is balanced in his setup and load to attack the baseball. Drives his hands inside and under the baseball, to get LD carry with backspin. An avg runner on the MLB scale of 6.92, and is a solid base runner who looks for extra bases out of the box. There’s some swing and miss to his game, and it’s on the FB up or elevated. Will need to learn to get on top or spoil, but more so than not, lay off the pitch. A low ball hitter who with his backspin is where he does his best damage. The glove is solid and makes all the routine plays, with better range to his left and coming in than his right to the hole. The hands are soft and the arm at 83 across the diamond will play solid avg across the bag as stated at 2B and profiles nicely there. Will move on to Davis HS I’ve the next two years as his family moved and will team with Kaleb Weaver on the left side of the INF and the duo will be as solid a one two punch on the mound as there is in the state. Keep this kid on your radar as he is steady Eddie and doesn’t make mental mistakes. A cerebral player that should continue to get better with his man strength.
Where Cayman stood out in this look was on the mound, as he showed advanced pitchability and the ability to compete and face much older hitters and attack and not back down. Very competitive and has a way of carrying himself with confidence that exudes an aura that he's been around older players and they don’t faze him, which is the case, as his older brother Corbin is attending Treasure Valley CC playing baseball, so he was around his brother and his friends and teammates. Cayman has been a staple at our events, such as: The Rising Stars ID, Blue Chip Scout Day, the Northern Utah Open and received an invite as the youngest player at the Top Prospect Games at a loaded event with stronger and much bigger players, with quite a few committed players. We will talk about the pitching here, as he showed a FB 78-81 with some small arm side run and located down in the zone from a compact delivery with solid use of his lower ½ and gets low and into his legs and rides the slope, while sowing a solid if not abv avg HTQ arm action with release and a loose wrist to finish at the end. The CB 68-71 has solid TQ tilt and bends and takes a left turn at the end with depth and he knows how to change speeds with feel for the CH 71-74 and with a 3 pitch mix in place, we will just see where the body gets to in the next couple of years, as he is also a very good SS and overall position player as well. Looking forward to watching Cayman’s progress over the next 4 years, yes 4 years of HS baseball. Very good youth baseball player right now.
Positional Profile: SS/RHP A young 2026 who I’ve been able to see at 3 different events this summer, as well as seeing him perform for the ‘26 version of Trosky National. A baseball player that can play all over the field will show you in a workout style event, his talents in the OF at SS, catcher and on the mound. It’s hard to say where he ends up defensively, but for a young 14 yr old kid, he has run a 7.10/60 and shows the type of quick bat with a direct path and high one hand finish to elevate the ball right now and into the future as he continues to grow and develop. Was able to hit a drive 338 feet over the LF wall in BP and showed an arm of 79 across the infield. It’s easy to see at 5-10 140 lbs that as he continues to develop and grows, that the bat and athleticism will continue to shine and draw even more attention over the next 3-4 years, as he enters HS baseball this next spring!
Body: 5-10, 145-pounds. Lean lanky and very athletic with sound baseball player type movement patterns
Hits: RHH. Sits into his lower half and is even proportioned w/a square stance. Holds the bat at his back shoulder with a semi open flare to the barrel to the catcher. Leans back into his backside and lifts his foot, and puts it down softly into foot strike. The bat takes a direct path and has some length overall, but works his hands inside, on inside pitches and spins to pull. Did hit a 338 foot shot down the line on a 310 foot LF line for a HR during BP!
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 81.4 MPH. 338' max distance. Does show present wiry twitchy strength to carry the ball out of the park, to the pull side for a young 14 yr old kid. Will continue to develop overall and as he martures and ages with strength, LD power with loft, should be part of his game.
Arm: RH. C-72 mph. INF-79 mph.Has arm strength and can match most of the top 2023 players who are in the 78-80 mph range that don't sell out for metrics. the arm is fluid and online and over the next 3-4 years he should approach the mid to upper 80's with his arm velos.
Defense: 2.10-2.18 pop times. Advanced actions and movement patterns for a 14 yr old kid. They are not polished by no means, but for his age and experience level, which he plays for Trosky National, he's good for his level of play right now.
