Prep Baseball Showdown: Scout Blog
June 5, 2025
EMERSON, GA: The summer is here and the State Games of Georgia kicks off our summer season at LakePoint. There is nothing better than opening the summer on memorial day weekend with teams from all over the country. Our scouting staff was out in full force watching games all weeekend long. We will be publishing scout blogs at the end of every tournament. Check out notes and videos on players than made an impression on our scouting staff in the 1st weekend back.
Brayden Page (AL), LHP/1B, 2027, Mobile Christian High School
Page has shown off some serious two-way talent this weekend. On the bump he worked his FB up to 85, working in the 83-85 range. He threw from an over the top slot from the left side. His CB was a clear s/m offering. He threw the CB as his go to SO pitch at 71-73. Page generated an impressive 7 whiffs in just one inning to K the side. There is some serious arm talent that one can only expect to improve in the next couple of years. At the dish Page is just as impressive. He consistently puts together some impressive ABs and gets his swing off often. Some good discipline at the plate as well. He stands tall and relaxed in the box and has minimal unnecessary movements in the swing to create some consistency in the swing showing good bat to ball skills. Page is going to be a fun player to watch develop over the rest of his HS career and beyond.
Cash Schroeder (TN), SS/RHP, Farragut High School
Schroeder did it all this weekend. He is a true gamer. He showed it off on the bump running the FB up to 88 and settled in at 83-87 with some live arm side life. He featured two legit offspeed offerings as well in a CH and SL. The SL was his go to SO pitch with some late depth. He showed the ability to flash the CH to both RHH and LHH and it was effective to both. At the plate Schroeder showed off some fast twitch movement and a little bit of juice as well, recording a 95+ EV. Swings a simple swing that is direct to the ball. Gets his quick hands out front and allows the barrel to stay in the zone a long time. Still plenty of room to grow into the body at 6-foot 155-pounds right now. Schroeder will be a must watch in the near future.
Tyler Hickman, C/3B, 2029, Cartersville High School
Hickman had an impressive performance this weekend. Playing up an age division, he showed that his bat is ready for the next level. Going 3/3 in his game Sunday, with all three hits over 90 EV, he has impressive power from a strong base. It’s a very quick swing through the zone, and facing velocity was not an issue for him. Was able to stay true to his approach and get a pitch he could drive and never looked confused or off balance in the box. Hickman is going to be a player to watch for this summer and beyond as he begins high school this upcoming year, and looks already to be a stand out player at the next level.
Tristan Fox, RHP, 2026, Ocean Springs HS (MS)
Uncommitted. Fox stood out this weekend on the mound, absolutely dominating while controlling the tempo of the game. Constantly made hitters look uncomfortable by working quick and mixing his pitches well. He showed a fastball that was up to 89 and sat in the 86-88 range. In addition, his offspeed consisted of a splitter that was sub 1000 RPM and had good depth, and a curveball that worked mid 70’s with tight spin and sharp break. Hitters didn’t look like they had any clue of how to hit off of him as he kept mixing pitches well. He showed some pop at the plate as well, driving a ball off the wall for a double at 93 EV. This is one of the better uncommitted arms in Mississippi, and is an outstanding athlete that will continue to be someone to keep eyes on this summer.
Cayden Ridge Nance, 2B/OF, 2026, Vidalia
Uncommitted. It has been an offensive explosion the last two weeks for Carolina Prime with Nance being one of the catalysts this week. As he would evaporate a no-doubt two-run bomb to the pull-side at 99 EV/ 390 Ft.. Exuding hitterish actions throughout, Nance shows present hand/bat speed with strong feel to manipulate the barrel in an all-fields approach. With plenty of strength to project upon throughout the lean, athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame. The actions throughout the field are amongst some of the best with positional flexibility both in the dirt and in the outfield. High-floor tools litter the profile and show up time and time again during gameplay, Nance brings the type of "gamer" traits that will help any club succeed at the next level.
Connor Tysver, C/RHP, 2028, St. Pius X
It was an emphatic end to the nightcap Sunday evening. As Tyvser would show off the immense strength in the physical 6-foot-2, 228-pound frame with a trio of 90 + EV barrels. The RHH connected with a ringing XBH in the first-inning at an EV of 100. He would then proceed to follow it up by unloading on a pair to the pull-side for a 2 HR performance. The incoming sophomore stays extremely well-leveraged to the pull-side with enormous impact in the barrel and innate barrel feel as he generates a ton of strength from the ground-up. The in-game power projection is easy to see as he tapped into it early and often Sunday night.
Nick Bobrowski, LHP, 2026, Pope
Uncommitted. Fresh off a playoff run in the spring, Bobrowski opened the summer up with yet another electric start. As he would punch out 7 across 4.0 IP. The lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 170-pound southpaw would come out ripping off 3300 RPM + curveballs with ease and maxing out at 3491 RPM. Fastball lived 84-86 T87 and the changeup played well off the fastball at 75-77 with tumble. Showing another potential advanced future offering to pair with the curveball. A big summer appears in the cards for one of the top uncommitted pitchers still on the market in the ‘26 GA class.
Russell Nelson, RHP, 2029, Casteel High School
Nelson came out and immediately blew hitters away. His mix of fastball and slider are both plus pitches and at elite velocity for the class. Easy arm action with smooth body movement on the mound create for a high 80’s fastball and a slider in the low 80’s. He has plus command of both pitches, able to locate the fastball on the outer half of the plate and pairing that with a slider just off the plate for swing and miss. Displayed pure athleticism on the mound and the ability to dominate any hitter in this class. Nelson is one of the premier arms in this class, and the velocity will only continue to climb as he gets older and stronger. One of the top 2029 players in the country.
Jaquan Morris, 3B/2B, 2028, Jackson High School (AL)
Jaquan Morris, a Class of 2028 prospect, has already made a name for himself with his impressive raw power at the plate. Recently, he showcased his strength by launching a home run with a 99 mph exit velocity, a remarkable feat for a player of his age. This level of power suggests a high ceiling for Morris as he continues to develop physically and refine his hitting mechanics. While still in the early stages of his baseball journey, his ability to generate such force indicates potential as a big time power hitter in the future. With continued growth and experience, Morris could evolve into a key offensive contributor at higher levels of play.
Tage Pollard, RHP/SS, Farmington Highschool (AR)
Tage Pollard, a right-handed pitcher in the Class of 2028, is emerging as a high-upside arm with a projectable 6-foot-1 frame and notable athleticism on the mound. He recently topped out at 87 mph with his fastball, a velocity that stands out for his age and suggests more in the tank as he continues to develop physically. Pollard complements his heater with a 67 mph curveball that features a slurve-like break. His changeup, ranging from 77 to 80 mph, adds a valuable third pitch to his arsenal.. The combination of his current stuff, physical projection, and mound presence positions Pollard as a promising pitching prospect to watch in the coming years.
Colton Dabkowski, OF/SS, Woodgrove Highschool (VA)
Colton Dabkowski, a 2029 outfielder, is an extremely advanced player for his age with a strong blend of athleticism and feel for the game. He stood out in a big way, going 4-for-4 in the game with two stand-up triples, showing off both his bat speed and speed on the bases. Dabkowski plays with energy and confidence—an absolute baller who impacts the game in multiple ways. With his physical development already ahead of the curve and plenty of room to grow, he carries significant long-term upside.
Jasper Brock, 3B, 2028, Sequoyah High School
Uncommitted. The young 5-foot-11, 185-pound corner infielder was hot at the plate this weekend. He consistently finds the barrel and has the ability to drive the ball to all parts of the field. This weekend Brock put up a .556 batting average to his resume. He battled each at-bat and was able to shorten the swing in 2 strike counts. His approach is advanced for his age, being able to locate his pitches and find a way on base. Brock has an even amount of contact and power, which is what you look for in a 2-3 hole hitter. This talent is something special coming out of the 2028 class. With further growth and development, Brock will continue to get better. There is a very high ceiling for this young prospect.
Mason Fowles, 2B/RHP, 2027, Harrison High School
Uncommitted. The 5-foot-11,157-pound prospect is able to do it all. A very athletic right-handed pitcher and middle infielder. Fowles is able to command the zone well. He has an arsenal of a fatball and two off-speeds. His fastball sits around 81-84, his changeup around 75-78, and slider at 73-74. The strike throwing righty will make hitters work, and fill up the zone. The slider he uses is one of his best pitches, that works very well after the fastball in 2 strike counts. In his outing this weekend, he recorded 6 strikeouts in 4 innings pitched. As a hitter his fundamentals are extremely sound. He stays loose and gets the bat around with ease. Fowles has sneaky pop and will find a gap on all parts of the field. This player from the 2027 class is making a name for himself. Coming up on his junior year, Fowles will continue to work.
Eli Primm, OF, Jefferson High School
Uncommitted. Saw two really good looks at Primm this weekend. In both games he was able to find the barrel collecting three hits in the two outings. Should feel for the barrel to match his well leveraged swing, also does a good job of creating separation and staying balanced. Has a strong physical frame at 5’8” 177 pounds, can tell that there is already present strength in both his frame and in his swing. Will be a good follow as the summer goes along to see how he develops and to see if he keeps collecting hits.
Ethan Herrington, 1B, Cambridge HS
Uncommitted. The tall athletic 6’2” 185 pound 1B put together some good ABs this past weekend. One Friday we put together an impressive performance going 3-4 with 3 single and on Saturday he went 1-2 with and RBI. Has feel for the barrel as he is able to continuously put together hits game after game. Is able to get good separation to be able to drive his hands through the zone and has a small toe tap so he can sync up and stay on time. Will be a good name to follow as the summer goes on.
Liam McNulty, OF, North Forsyth HS
Uncommitted. Couple of interesting looks this weekend. Found the barrel quite a few time collecting quality hits and having good at bats in both looks. On Saturday he went 2-2 with two single and an RBI and on Sunday he collected another hit going 1-2 with a walk as well and in all three hits it was loud contact with feel for the barrel. Has a simple quite swing with a leg quick, has the ability to go up and match plane on pitches. Has a lean athletic frame at 5’11” 155 pounds with plenty of room to add strength.
Gavin Poteet, LHP, Cherokee Bluff HS
Uncommitted. The young LHP came out in the championship game and attacked the zone immediately in the first inning. Was able to get swing and miss with his fastball that sits 81-84 and tops out at 85. Pairs his fastball with a slider that sits around 72mph that is tight break with some horizontal slice. Struggled with command a little as the game went on but was able to work out of major jams preserving his teams lead. Ended up pitching 4 innings only allowing 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 6. Has plenty of room from strength and growth in his 6’2” 177 pound frame. Will add velocity as he gets stronger. Has pitch ability already and will continue to get better as he gets offer and develops.
Jack McQuilken, RHP, Sprayberry HS
Uncommitted. Came out in the 15u championship pounding the zone and getting quick soft contact out. Rarely went deep into counts and was able keep his pitch count low. Pounded the zone early with a fastball that sat 81-83 with some arm side tail. Was able to keep hitters off balance with a tight 11/6 curveball that was able to get some swing and miss as well. Worked at a quick efficient tempo making hitters hit at his own pace. His final stat line included pitching 3 innings of 0 run no hit ball and striking out one batter. Has a lean wiry frame at 5’11” 145 pounds with plenty of room to had strength and with that strength that he adds he will add more velocity to his pitches.
Derrick Carter, 2026, 1B/LHP, Lowndes HS
Uncommitted. The 6-foot, 220-pound lefty had a big weekend at the plate. Carter showed loud contact all weekend with easy gap-to-gap power and a smooth, fluid swing. His ability to drive in runs in multiple situations highlighted his bat-to-ball skills and ability to hit with runners in scoring position. At first base, Carter made multiple big time scoops, showing off his soft hands and good footwork around the bag. A big name to keep an eye on this summer.
Amari Lethgo (TN), C/RHP, 2027, Halls High School
Uncommitted. Lethgo impressed at the plate all weekend. He showcased some serious tools in which his most impressive has to be his bat to ball skills. Lethgo put the bat on the ball in what seemed like every AB he took this weekend. He also showed off some serious power at the dish. He tacked on multiple XBH and capped it off with a mammoth HR. Lethgo produced 90+ EVs with relative ease all weekend. He also showed some 2-way potential running it up to 87 on the bump. Lethgo is a well matured bat at a premium defensive position. It will be fun to watch his game translate at the next level.
Silas Osbourn (AL), RHP, 2026, Chelsea High School
Uncommitted. Coming in as the 19th ranked player in AL the 6-foot-3, 185-pound RHP showed off a live arm this weekend. His FB sat at 88-90 topping out at 91 multiple times. The FB showed some live arm side life and sink at times. He held velo well throughout his start in which he held a talented lineup to 0R. Osbourn had some serious feel for his CH to be able to flash it to both RHH and LHH. His SL was his go to SO pitch and it was effective all night. He spun the SL at 2700+ consistently and generated some ugly swings with it. It is hard to imagine that Osbourn featured a polished 3 pitch mix and it is hard to imagine he will be uncommitted for long.
Colby Comparato (TN), 2B/3B, 2026, Halls High School
Uncommitted. Comparato proved to be your typical table setter at the leadoff spot this weekend. It was rare to see him not on base to start the game and even rarer to see him not work a long AB. He uses a toe-tap timing mechanism that minimizes swing and miss and allows him to fight off some tough pitches during these long ABs. Comparato has a knack for making pitchers work hard to start the game. He also proved to be able to hunt early when not leading off as well, which is when he really showed off his hit tool. He is a twitchy athlete with quick hands and puts pressure on the defense during his trips around the bases. Comparato is a guy you can rely to find his way on base whenever is needed, with some potential to hit for some power out of the leadoff spot as well.
