Prep Baseball welcomes Taylor Berg as its new Utah Scouting Director

By Prep Baseball Staff

Prep Baseball is proud to announce the hiring of Taylor Berg as its new Utah Scouting Director, effective immediately. A Utah native and standout, multi-sport athlete, Berg brings years of experience as a player, coach, and talent developer to this new role, where he will lead Prep Baseball’s scouting operations and event coverage across the state.

“We’re thrilled to have Taylor Berg join the Prep Baseball team,” said Sean Duncan, Prep Baseball President. “He brings a winning mindset, an unmatched work ethic, and a clear passion for helping young athletes reach their goals. Taylor’s experience and enthusiasm will have a meaningful impact on players, families, and coaches across the Utah baseball community.”

Berg’s ties to baseball in the state of Utah run deep. He was a part of the historic 2012 campaign at Utah Valley University in which the team won a program record 47 games. Prior to attending UVU, he walked on at Treasure Valley Community College in Oregon after declining Division I offers for football and wrestling in order to continue pursuing baseball upon his graduation from Juan Diego Catholic High in Draper, Utah. There, he was an all-state performer in football, wrestling, and baseball, winning state titles in both football and baseball, as well as a third-place finish at state in wrestling.

After injuries ended his playing career, Berg transitioned into coaching and development. He co-founded RA Baseball Academy in 2017 with a former UVU teammate. The program quickly grew into one of Utah’s premier training grounds, producing more than 125 college commits by 2025. In 2020, Berg became the head coach at Juan Diego Catholic, leading the program to two state championship appearances, including a title win, and sending nine players to play at the college level, from Memphis to Nebraska, Dartmouth, Northwestern, and beyond.

Now, Berg will bring his baseball experiences, connections, and passion for the prep scene in the state and apply them to his new role as Utah Scouting Director for Prep Baseball. He will work tirelessly to deliver the most comprehensive high school baseball coverage the state has ever seen and ensure that players from every corner of Utah are seen and supported. But he can’t do it alone. Please email him at [email protected] with college commitments, player updates, and noteworthy talent in your area.

“I’m humbled and grateful for the opportunity to represent the Utah baseball community with Prep Baseball,” Berg said. “Baseball shaped who I am – it gave me relationships, purpose, and lessons I still carry today. I’m here to give back to the game and help the next generation achieve even more.”

“My passion for baseball has always been centered around what the game did for me and my personal life,” Berg said. “Without this great game, I’m not sure where I would be – or who I would be for that matter. The game taught me more about life than anything else. If I can help young athletes in Utah achieve their goals through baseball, I will jump at that opportunity every time.”
