Covering All the Bases: NPI, Day One
June 6, 2025
Prep Baseball Tournaments’ National Program Invitational has evolved into the event that ignites the summer circuit, as the very best players in the country’s 2026, 2027 and 2028 classes all descend upon LakePoint in Emerson, Ga. This event gives the pro scouting community a snapshot of what to look forward to inside next year’s MLB Draft class, while also providing our staff with important looks at budding talent that will be considered for both this year’s 16U Future Games rosters, as well as next year’s.
Here’s some go-to links to help keep track of this year’s event:

+ Shooter’s Standouts: Day One
Below, we’re highlighting the best things we saw on the first day of action in Georgia – which includes some of the best pitching matchups we’ve seen in the history of this prestigious event.
‘26 DRAFT FOLLOWS
Inside Shooter Hunt’s Day One highlights published earlier today, the Prep Baseball VP of Scouting broke down the very best performances from Thursday at the NPI, highlighted by looks at the top right and left-handed pitchers in the country’s incoming senior class. Check that story out for those takeaways, and we’ll highlight some of the other 2026 MLB Draft follows in the space below.
![]() |
Blake Bryant RHP / Citizens Christian Academy, GA / 2026A 6-foot-6 righty with real starter traits, including three pitches that he trusts in almost every situation. He was 90-93 mph on Thursday from a ¾ slot that lends itself to natural, hard arm-side life that perfectly complements a swing-and-miss circle change, 81-84, as well as a biting sweeper, 79-82. A top-10-ranked prospect in Georgia with the arrow still pointed up. |
![]() |
Cy Chrisman 1B / 3B / Maple Mountain, UT / 2026A brute strength right-handed slugger at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, Chrisman connected for some really loud contact on the first day of this event. After a huge spring for Utah as the top-ranked player in its ‘26 class, Chrisman hit the ground running in Georgia, splitting his opposite-field gap for a triple that left his bat at 101.6 mph. He was also in attendance at the ProCase-West earlier this week where he ran a sub-7.00, showcasing athleticism for a player of his stature. |
![]() |
Bo Holloway LHP / Nolensville, TN / 2026Holloway is one of the top-lefthanders in the country for his size and the ease in which he gets to elite velocity – ranged from 92-97 mph on Thursday with huge arm-side action. The secondaries are a work in progress, but he’s a high-follow prospect in the 2026 class regardless given how rare some of the traits he brings to the table. |

Cash Scarborough RHP / OF / Houston Memorial, TX / 2026The Texas native had one of the best of the opening day of action at LakePoint for Houston Wildcatters Navy, tossing six shutout innings, allowing just two hits, no walks, with 11 strikeouts, which led all pitchers on Thursday. Armed with a 89-94 mph fastball, Scarborough’s wipeout slider, 77-83, featured advanced sweep that he threw with intent and feel, helping him rack up whiffs. The Oklahoma State commit was a Future Games participant last summer, and this was a great look at how far he’s come since. |
MORE FOLLOWS
+ OF Harrison Ailshie (East Rowan HS, NC; North Carolina): Went 2-for-3 with a single as well as a walk-off double –making loud contact in both hits, demonstrating feel for the barrel, as a 6-foot, 193-pound left/left follow.
+ SS/CF Ethan Bass (Glenbrook North HS, IL; Wake Forest): The up-the-middle athlete got his summer started off right with a back-side, RBI single down at LakePoint on Thursday; one of the top position players in the Midwest’s incoming senior class.
+ RHP Jake Carbaugh (Plant City HS, FL; Wake Forest): A top-10-ranked player from Florida, Carbaugh was 92-95 mph early in his start with the makings of a swing-and-miss changeup, 79-81, and an inconsistent sweeper, 74-75, that flashed potential. A 6-foot-5, 195-pound prospect with starter ingredients.
+ CF Deion Cole (GA; Georgia Tech)
+ 1B/LHP RJ Cope (Georgia Premier Academy, GA; Vanderbilt): A 6-foot-8, 235-pound two-way from Georgia with some of the biggest raw power in the region. He dug out a ball beneath the zone on Thursday and drove it to his opposite field for a deep double that left the bat at 97 mph.
+ OF Rob Czarniecki (Chesterton HS, IN; Kentucky): The 2024 Future Games MVP owns LakePoint, and he kept it up in his return to Emerson on Thursday, lacing a double (94 mph EV) that one-hopped the center field fence. The tooled-up Kentucky commit is still playing like one of the top players from the Midwest in 2025.
+ RHP Hudson DeVaughn (Mooresville HS, IN; Alabama): The 6-foot-4 athlete has a live arm, and he was somewhat effectively wild at 93-96 mph; slider, 79-80, that got better throughout his outing. A name to watch progress throughout the rest of this year.
+ C Kason Kolle (Victoria East HS, TX; TCU): Athlete behind the plate; athleticism throughout with strong receiving and present arm strength; physical RHH, explosive barrel, 2-for-2 with a homer and a single.
+ LHP Owen Lukac (Fishers HS, IN; Evansville): Lefty with a ¾ arm slot, FB sitting 87-89 (T90) with major sink, slider causing ugly swings, quick arm action, sinks in back leg, 3 innings of relief, six strikeouts, one run allowed.
+ MIF/RHP Taj Marchand (James Island HS, SC; Ole Miss): Went 1-for-2 with a hard-hit single Thursday (97 mph EV); also up to 92 mph on the mound with three Ks and he only allowed two runs on one hit in his outing as one of the best prospects in South Carolina.
+ 3B Yodelkis Quevedo (Mater Academy, FL; Florida State): Quevedo is one of the strongest players walking around LakePoint this week, 6-foot-3 and as muscled-up as can be. He applied that strength at the dish Thursday, slugging a monstrous run-rule, walk-off home run for Padres Scout Team that left the bat at over 108 mph and traveled over 420 feet. It’s one-of-a-kind right-handed bat.
+ RHP Trey Rangel (The Colony HS, TX; Texas): A special athlete with an electric pitch mix, headlined by a 94-97 mph heater and the chance for two other advanced offerings: a slider, 81-84, and changeup, 87-90.
+ RHP Cooper Shrum (Belton HS, MO; Tennessee): Listed at 6-foot-6, 185 pounds, the long-levered Tennessee commit has massive upside from the state of Missouri. He also authored one of the best starts from Thursday, going six near-perfect innings, preventing a hit, one walk, and he struck out eight. He was 91-94 mph on a high-spin heater (2,400 rpm) that made his advanced parachute change, 78-83, that much more effective. The breaking ball is under construction, a curve at 71-76 mph, but Shrum has spin feel and a quick arm so it’s easy to envision him developing a more useful curve in the near-term.
+ RHP Aiden Smith (Shelbyville HS, IN; Kentucky): An aggressive mover downhill, listed at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. The Kentucky recruit is one of the top prospects in Indiana, a state that’s produced some big MLB Draft arms in recent years especially. His natural cut fastball was 88-91 mph on Thursday with two quality secondaries behind it, a slider, 78-80, and an upside change, 82-83.
+ OF Noah Wilson (McCallie HS, TN; Vanderbilt): Wilson is a live-bodied athlete with the kind of twitch that’s impossible to overlook in the left-handed batter’s box. He notched a couple base hits for Padres Scout Team in Thursday’s win, and he looked like one of the best athletes on the field while doing it.

CLASS OF 2026

Roshan Bullard 3B / RHP / Marist, GA / 2026Bullard took the mound for 6-4-3 Cougars DP in a big spot and he K'd all four of the batters to clinch a big opening day win, 2-0. The two-way standout from Marist High in Georgia was productive offensively for his high school this spring, and he's started to turn heads as an arm already this summer too. In Thursday's outing, Bullard was 86-91 mph with a 74-76 curveball.

![]() |
Cylis Proffitt SS / Rancho Christian, CA / 2026Lean and athletic 6-foot-1 frame, athletic actions up the middle, arm strength; strong bat-to-ball skills in an all-fields approach, pull-side single and back-side single in-game. |
![]() |
Kamden Welch 1B / LHP / Oak Ridge, TN / 2026Physical LHP at 6-foot, 210 pounds, easy drive down the mound, FB at 85-87 mph (T88) and SL showed good shape with some feel to manipulate at 72-75; struck out 10 across 5.0 IP against Royals Scout Team.
|

+ LHP Brady Braswell (Olathe Northwest HS, KS) for Building Champions Navy, 4.2 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 8 K (T85)

+ 3B Hudson Reed (Morgan County HS, GA)
CLASS OF 2027
![]() |
Selvin Garrett SS / Buda Johnson, TX / 2027Garrett was one of the pound-for-pound winners from Day One at the NPI, opening the top of the morning with advanced athleticism at shortstop, and he also notched a clutch RBI single for Canes Southwest that kept earning him attention. Garrett looks the part of a ballplayer with a well-rounded skill set that he uses to find a way to contribute in all facets of the game. He’s an arrow-up incoming junior to know once the recruiting window opens for these ‘27s. |
|
Blake LaMattina SS / RHP / Cosby, VA / 2027Lammatina is one of Virginia’s top-ranked players and he went 2-for-2 for Canes National on the team’s first day of action at NPI 2025. At 6-foot, 178 pounds, the right-handed-hitting shortstop plays hard with speed that plays the instant he exits the batter’s box, using it to generate two runs and two more he drove in himself. |
![]() |
Jacob Seamon OF / SS / Metrolina Christian, NC / 2027Seamon checks all the boxes as a 6-foot-5 slugger with one of the sweetest swings in the park. As one of the top-ranked players in the nation, Seamon made an early impact after he smashed a ball to his pull-side that hit off the top of the fence which forced him to settle for a triple instead. He’ll be one of the most coveted prep player to hit the recruiting window once it opens. |
![]() |
Grant Westphal OF / Blue Valley, KS / 2027Westphal slugged his first home run of the summer on Thursday, retaining his status as one of the best incoming juniors in attendance this week at NPI. The Kansas native is ranked inside the nation’s top-five overall, and he was 3-for-4 Thursday, including that solo homer. He’s a 6-foot-2, 195-pound left-handed hitter fresh off an all-state season for Blue Valley High as just a sophomore. |
+ RHP/OF Mason Bruesch (Geneva HS, IL): 4.1 IP, 9 K, side-arm slot with spin feel; late arm-side life, 87-89 mph with a sharp curve, 72-75.
A tough look.
— Andy Sroka (@AndySrokaPBR) June 6, 2025
RHP/OF Mason Bruesch (Geneva HS, IL, 2027) is a standout two-way athlete impressing on the mound late tonight at #NPI25.

+ RHP/INF Drew Davis (Sumrall HS, MS): 2-for-2, 2B, 3 RBI
+ LHP Dillon DuBose (Tuscaloosa County HS, AL): Athletic pitch ability LHP, FB 81-84 with ASR, SL at 70-74-tunnels/sharp, swing-and-miss with box; 9 K across 5.0 IP against South Charlotte Panthers.

+ C/1B Wyatt Rath (Northridge HS, AL): Physical RHH, frame projects at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, easy pop to all-fields; backside RBI 2B and RBI 2B into LCF.
+ MIF Amari Reynolds (Sam Barlow HS, OR)
+ 3B/C Mason Shelton (Hardin Valley HS, TN): Projectable and athletic 6-foot-1 frame, exudes hitterish actions, fluid LH swing; 2-for-2 with BB- backside double and a pull-side triple.
+ RHP Oliver Van Tiem (Orange HS, NC)
+ RHP Luke Weatherley (Jonesboro HS, AR): A 5-foot-11, 195-pound catcher/pitcher ranked as one of the top players in Arkansas, Weatherley K’d five over 2.1 innings, battling through some competitive at-bats from his opposition. Regardless, the talent shined through, as he reached a 92 mph high, 88-91, with a fastball that paired well with a downer curve, 73-76.
+ OF Drew Wells (Vista Ridge HS, TX)
FOR THE FUTURE

Zach Koons SS / RHP / Greater Atlanta Christian, GA / 2028A twitchy two-way athlete ranked just outside the top-10 in Georgia’s ‘28 class. It’s a natural feel to hit; compact with bat speed. He had an excellent freshman campaign at GAC and it’s seamlessly translating into the summer now.
