Kansas Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 Pitchers

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted arms in the class.

Axton Brewer RHP / 1B / Seaman, KS / 2027Brewer is a high-ceiling right-hander, who should continue to see jumps in his already solid numbers as he continues to add strength to his long frame. Presently, the fastball is up to 91 mph, and he works off of it with a nice changeup, and a pair of breaking pitches. |

Quincy Koehn RHP / 1B / Maize, KS / 2027Koehn is a physical right-hander, with an impressive frame at 6'5 236 lbs. He utilizes it well, with the fastball topping out a hair under 92 mph. He rounds out a four-pitch mix with a changeup, as well as a slider and curveball. |

Brett Liezert RHP / OF / Olathe East, KS / 2027Liezert is another physical athlete on the mound. The fastball has good life at the top of the zone, and tops out at 90-91 mph. He works off of it with a hard changeup and a sharp, high-spin slider. |

Brock Lubbers RHP / 1B / Rock Creek, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 5
Lubbers is an imposing right-hander, with natural power that is evident both at the plate and on the mound. We've seen the fastball be up to 88 mph with an impressive spin rate at 2300+ rpm. He's also shown a great feel for his breaking pitches, consistently landing both a slider and curveball for strikes. |

Jake Busse RHP / 1B / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 6
Busse is one of the most exciting upside arms not just in the state but the country. The 6'7 righty uses his frame to his advantage, running his fastball up to 95 mph. His best offspeed offering is a high-spin slider, and he rounds out a three-pitch arsenal with a solid changeup. |
