The 2025 summer circuit has wrapped up, and the Prep Baseball Missouri staff has updated the Show-Me State’s 2028 rankings as this class heads into its sophomore year. This refreshed list reflects performances from throughout the summer, culminating at the Prep Baseball Future Games, and spotlights 50 players with several notable newcomers and plenty of movement across the board.

Below, we take a deeper dive into this update, highlighting the top of the rankings while also providing a broader look at the class as a whole, including newcomers and names on the rise. Read on for the full breakdown.
THE TOP 10
The top half of our top 10 remains unchanged in this update, as Missouri’s 2028 class continues to shape up as one of the most talented groups in state history.
A trio of Kansas City-area standouts holds firm at the top: OF/LHP Keelan Zumwalt (Summit Christian) remains No. 1, followed by INF Kameron Gillespie (Liberty) at No. 2 and INF/RHP Krue Patrick (Staley) at No. 3.

Spots No. 4 through No. 7 also stay steady, with OF/LHP Brady Rallo (Christian Brothers College) at No. 4, INF/RHP Nolan Ash (Southern Boone) at No. 5, INF Porter McCarthy (Benton) at No. 6, and RHP Jackson Leonard (Eureka) at No. 7.
The first change in this update comes at No. 8, where INF/RHP Jon Calcaterra (Lindbergh) climbs three spots to break into the top 10. The highly physical 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-hander continues to show middle-of-the-order power that consistently translates in game action, while also running his fastball into the mid-80s on the mound.

A pair of St. Louis-area products round out the group: 1B/LHP Cayden Jackman (Kirkwood) at No. 9 and C Chase Owens (Farmington) at No. 10.
RISERS AND NEWCOMERS
From the Missouri State Games to the Central Super Sophomore Games, it was a huge summer across the Show-Me State. With more than 100 sophomores making noise, our rankings expand to 50 names in this update — adding 20 new players to the list. Below, we highlight some of the biggest risers and notable newcomers.
Our first riser is RHP Cade Cantrell (Knob Noster), who climbs six spots to No. 13. Cantrell continues to show jumps on the mound, pairing standout arm talent with advanced pitchability. He’s consistently worked in the mid-80s this summer, culminating at the Central Super Sophomore Games where he ran his fastball up to 86 mph with a high-spin slider from a low arm slot that gave hitters fits in a dominant outing against Team Iowa. Also QB1 for the Panthers, Cantrell has the makings of a premier arm in Missouri’s 2027 class.

Sliding in right behind Cantrell at No. 14 is our first newcomer, RHP/OF Tyler Fischer (Jackson). Fischer first caught our eye this past winter at the Tribe Scout Day and has since made huge strides. A member of Team Missouri at the Super Sophomore Games in August, the physical 6-foot-1, 183-pound athlete showcased a well-rounded toolset: a fastball up to 89.8 mph, a 97 mph exit velocity, and a 6.95 60. Fischer will be a must-follow prospect in this class moving forward.

INF/RHP Aidan Nicholson (Liberty), a 6-foot-3, 192-pound two-way talent announced himself at his Prep Baseball debut during the MOKAN Summer ID in July, posting triple-digit exit velocities (T102.6 mph) with advanced bat speed and easy gap-to-gap power. Nicholson also ran his fastball up to 85 mph at the NPI this summer. Still in the midst of his development, he offers considerable upside to go along with an already impressive skillset. He makes his debut at No. 18 in this update.
Up four spots in this update is LHP Bo Robbins (St. Clair). A high-pitchability southpaw, Robbins works his fastball up to 82 mph with natural arm-side run and shows advanced feel for a three-pitch mix that includes a curveball, changeup, and slider. With a long 6-foot-3, 206-pound frame, there’s still plenty more to dream on as he continues to develop.
Two Kansas City area newcomers round out the top 30: INF Brittan Motley Jr. (Blue Springs South) and C Brady Meyer (Grain Valley). Both make their debuts at No. 28 and No. 30, respectively, after standout summer performances that earned each an invite to the Super Sophomore Games.
