Prep Baseball Louisiana 2028 State Rankings Update (June 2025)
June 6, 2025
Now that the 2025 high school season has come to an end, we’ve decided to roll out a post-spring update to our Class of 2028 Louisiana Player Rankings, with some subtle shifts inside the list, which has now expanded to 100 prospects. With the summer season looming, we’ve decided to give a snapshot of the Top-10 and a look at some players who had a stellar freshman year.
As always, our evaluation process is fluid and ongoing, built on multiple viewings and discussions to get the most accurate feel for each player’s abilities. It’s worth noting that while some players show rapid improvement, this doesn’t suggest that others have regressed—player development is simply a journey with peaks and valleys. As the season unfolds, new names will continue to surface, expanding the universe of top prospects in the Bayou State. In addition to our player evaluations, our scouts—both in-state and nationally—have been in constant dialogue, comparing notes and making adjustments based on the latest insights to ensure the rankings are as up-to-date and accurate as possible.

Cole Albert RHP / 3B / Vermilion Catholic, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
The former two-time Junior Future Gamer had an impressive freshman campaign that ended with Vermilion Catholic hoisting their first state championship trophy in program history. Albert was the team's #1 starter all season long and came through on the biggest stage. He earned the Select Division IV Most Outstanding Player Award after earning the win in the state title game against Ouachita Christian, after tossing a complete-game allowing only one run while striking out three.

Cooper Templet SS / C / St. Amant, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 2
Templet is another two-time former Junior Future Gamer who enjoyed a really nice freshman campaign for the Gators. Across 29 games, he collected 28 hits and hit at a .346 clip with 1 home run, 4 doubles, 1 triple, and drove in 20 runs. We had the opportunity to see him against Sam Houston in the playoffs and were impressed with his swing decisions and ability to hit the ball to all fields.

Grant Oustalet 3B / C / Sam Houston, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 9 / POS: 1
The growth that Oustalet showed throughout this year was noteable and culminated with him coming through on the biggest stage for the Broncos. Another former Junior Future Gamer, Oustalet was stellar throughout Sam Houston's State Title run. He finished the playoffs with a .304 average and at the State Tournament he went 4-for-8 (.500) with a double in the Broncos three games against Live Oak. This was all while playing lock down defense at the hot corner as well.
