With the 2025 Missouri high school baseball season officially in the books, it’s time to announce our 2025 Prep Baseball Missouri Player of the Year. In 2024, the honor went to Jack Nobe of St. Francis Borgia after a standout season. This year, the award goes to LHP/OF Brody Irlbeck (Staley, 2025; Iowa), who capped off an exceptional high school career with a dominant senior season.

Long known to our staff as a must-see arm on the mound, Brody Irlbeck took another leap forward this spring, playing a pivotal role in Staley’s success, helping guide the Falcons to a runner-up finish in Missouri’s Class 6. The senior southpaw saw his draft stock climb as the season progressed, showcasing a fastball that touched 95 mph and a swing and miss curveball/changeup combination that consistently kept hitters off balance.

In a season filled with record-breaking performances, the Iowa signee capped off his high school career in dominant fashion. He turned in a lights-out outing in the state semifinals, striking out eleven over seven innings of one-run ball, while allowing just two hits and one walk against a talented Fort Zumwalt West squad to push Staley into the state championship game. Irlbeck wrapped up his senior season with a flawless 11-0 record, anchored by a staggering 0.27 ERA and a 0.55 WHIP. He struck out 104 batters and allowed just three earned runs all year, including an incredible stretch of 55 consecutive scoreless innings.

And he didn’t just shine on the mound. Irlbeck was a force in the middle of Staley’s lineup all year, slashing .347/.433/.570 with 19 extra-base hits and 38 RBIs to round out a remarkable senior campaign.
