This Tuesday, June 17th, the Prep Baseball Illinois team is hosting the South Suburban Summer ID at Ozinga Field in Crestwood, IL. This is an open event for all high school classes (2026-29), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

For a closer look at the showcase details and the technologies we'll have on-site to assist our in-person evaluation for all in attendance, click here. For a complete look at those registered to attend this event, view the most up-to-date version of the roster by clicking here.

EVENT HISTORY

We've been hosting this event for the past three years, and it's consistently provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the Prep Baseball Future Games and Illinois State Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2024, there are already four commitments among them.

We're looking forward to checking in on the next crop of talent from this event to earn next-level attention in the coming weeks, months, and years.

2025 ROSTER

This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, just like in years past.

Adam Kozak OF / Lockport, IL / 2026

From 3/15/24: "Kozak emerged as a name to know in the sophomore class after having a big game on Friday night vs. Mount Vernon. The athletic 5-foot-10, 155-pound outfielder went 4-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and three runs scored out of the leadoff spot for the Porters. Although what may have stood out the most regarding Kozak’s performance was the level of maturity he showed in the box and with his approach. The left-handed hitter maintained a simple and level swing at the plate, using the whole field and letting his barrel do the work. He also showed advanced actions on the basepaths for his age as well. Kozak will be a bat to follow this spring hitting at the top of a talented Lockport lineup."

Jenner Smith OF / RHP / Hersey, IL / 2028

From 2/21/25: "...will surely be a name our staff needs to follow closely throughout the coming years on both sides of the ball. He has an extremely projectable and high-waisted 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame with long limbs. On the mound, the right-hander is a fluid/easy mover with a clean arm to pair, also boasting a four-pitch mix. His fastball played in the 79-81 mph range with ease out of the hand, setting up both a curveball (68-70 mph; T2446 RPM) and a slider (72-73 mph; T2426 RPM), though he appeared more comfortable landing the slider in the zone with sharp action and depth. His final offering was a running changeup that flashed hard arm-side action, 72-74 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter has a compact swing and balanced finish, looking to be an extremely interesting follow with the bat as well."

Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a Prep Baseball showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.
