HOT TAKES
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Myers had a big game, not only on the mound but at the plate in helping the Tigers improve to 28-4. The junior reached on an error and scored in the third and singled and came home in the fifth. But it was his pitching that earned the honor with a one-hitter, striking out nine and walking four, throwing 54 of 87 pitches for strikes.
WHAT’S NEXT?: Taft is one of four returning starters for Elmwood, at state for the second time in school history. Matt Melecha has 39 wins in his two years in charge and the head coach of the Royals looks to add onto that total with returning regulars Carter Goetz, Nico Allen, Kason Hammer and Taft.
