Uncommitted Spotlight: Hogan Hawkins

The summer is in full swing and the Prep Baseball Nevada staff has hosted several events, all featuring some very talented uncommitted prospects. The events we have wrapped up so far this summer consist of the Las Vegas Rising Stars Games/Top Prospect Games on May 28th with a ton of upcoming talent on hand, and the Reno Top Prospect Games, featuring a strong group of prospects from all classes.
Our staff has had eyes on hundreds of players this summer, including an in-depth look at those who performed at our events. As the summer continues, we will be highlighting some of the top uncommitted prospects in Nevada who made strong impressions, with our Uncommitted Spotlight Series.
We begin our Uncommitted Summer Spotlights with ‘26 SS/RHP Hogan Hawkins. Hawkins attended our Top Prospect Games in Las Vegas, where he put together a strong all-around performance. He recorded the top 60-yard dash time of the day at 6.67 and led all infielders with a velocity of 90 mph across the diamond. On the mound, he sat 87–88 mph and topped at 89 with the fastball, while flashing a tight 79–80 mph slider. The switch-hitting two-way has clearly shown his versatility and will be a name to follow closely as he heads into his senior year. Positional Profile: SS/OF One of the highest risers in Nevada's 2026 Class with more to come.
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic set up. Far left side of rubber. Quicker tempoed delivery. Tall/tilt type. Gets down the mound, mostly staying tall. Lands slightly closed. Balanced finish over his front side.
Arm Action: RH. Loose, quick arm action. Repeats well. High 3/4.
FB: T85, 84-85 mph. FB flashes jump. Attacks hitter. Some ASR. T2283, 2230 average rpm.
CB: 74-75 mph. Clean, tighter pitch. Works well of FB. T2271, 2254 average rpm.
CH: 78-78 mph. Works down in the zone. Present IVB. T1877, 1716 average rpm.
ATH: 7.25 runner in the 60. 19.50 max vertical.

Hit: SH. RH - Athletic, squared set up. Quiet hand rhythm pre-pitch. Low hovering leg kick. Balanced throughout. Level path through the zone. Some lift in extension that helped put his present power in display, especially to the pull side. LH - Wider based set up. Weight starts shifted further back. Quiet pre-pitch. Hands work efficiently to the ball. Some uphill thought the zone. Confident in the box with flashes of preset power to the big part of the yard. Potential high level bat to follow. 63.3 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 85.8 mph. 367' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-78 mph. INF-84 mph. OF-89 mph. Loose, quick arm action. High 3/4 slot.
Defense: 1.92-1.98 pop times. C - Newer behind the plate, but athleticism shine though with confident. action that would be easy to fine tune. Present catch and throw with the events best pop time. Feel in his receiving with simple adjustments that could continue improving value as a multi-position asset. IF - Most confident position at the event. Active feet throughout fielding process. Maintains smooth actions with each ground ball. Present feel for the ball outside his feet with range coming as his foot speed improves. OF - Aggressive routes through the ball. Feet work to get him on line. Arm strength was present with accurate throws. Swiss Army Knife type player with the ability to hold down any defensive spot.
