Top Prospect Games - Session II: Quick Hits

On July 2nd, the Prep Baseball New Jersey staff hosted the NJ Top Prospect Games - Session II at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ. 38 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball NJ staff.

Earlier today, we released the Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting some of the best statistical metrics from the day.

Today, we will be looking at the prospects that stood out to our staff within this Quick Hits story.


Position Players

MIF Vincent Filis (Princeton Day, 2028) stands 5-foot-10, 153-pounds, and had a solid showing in his Prep Baseball showcase debut. The infielder impressed in his BP round as well as defensively. The athletic incoming sophomore ran a 7.10 60-yard dash to start the day. During BP, peaked at 93 mph with an average of 88 mph. Filis is a prospect that has room to fill in and is an intriguing follow throughout his high school career. 

C Eddie Mitchell (Lenape, 2028) currently ranked No. 6 in the state's 2028 class and No. 1 catcher in the class, Mitchell continues to be a name to follow, last week at the event, the backstop had the second best catcher velocity at 77 mph and pop time at 1.89-2.03. At the plate, showed well with a max EV of 98 mph and an average of 89 mph with a max distance of 369'. 

C Erick Pinales (DePaul Catholic, 2026) currently ranked No. 152 in the state's '26 class. Pinales had a all-around solid showing. In his round of BP, the right-hander topped at 97 mph EV with an average of 89 mph and a max distance of 359'. The catcher flashed his athleticism during the 60, running a 7.06 and showed off athletic actions behind the plate, tossed 77 mph from the chute and had a pop time range of 1.98-2.13.

C Jake Small (Jefferson Township, 2028) is ranked No. 17 in the NJ 2028 class. Small continues to be a name on the rise. Last week, the Junior Future Games alum had an intriguing performance. Peaked at 89 mph EV during BP and flashed athletic actions behind the plate. Tossed 76 mph from behind the plate and had a 1.93-1.99 pop time. 

INF Patrick Van Note (Montclair, 2026) the 80th ranked prospect n the state's 2026 class, Van Note had second best infield velocity on the day at 82 mph and had a clean defensive round. Van Note was one of the top athletes at the event, ran a 7.20 60-yard dash and, also impressed during BP. The right-hander had a max EV of 93 mph and flashed some bat speed throughout his round. 

C/INF Liam Velit (Northern Burlington, 2026) currently ranked No. 48 in the state's 2026 class. Velit had one of the loudest performances at the event. The right-hander had the second best EV at 99.4 mph and an average of 89 mph with a max distance of 370'. Defensively, had the top infield velocity at 87 mph. Velit is a name to follow throughout the summer. 

OF Luke Tanzola (St. Augustine Prep, 2027) ranked No. 55 in the NJ 2027 class. Tanzola impressed throughout the day. During BP, had a peak EV of 96 mph with an average of 84 mph and a max distance of 346'. The outfielder ran a 6.93 60-yard time and tossed 86 mph from his position which was the third best at the event. 

OF Joseph Spinello (East Brunswick, 2026) currently ranked No. 71 in the state's 2026 class, Spinello had a loud performance at the event. During his round of BP, the right-hander had a max EV of 98 mph with an average of 88 mph and a max distance of 351'. Spinello also flashed higher bat speeds throughout. Defensively, threw an event leading 89 mph and an event leading 6.71 60-yard time. 

INF Collin Perna (South Brunswick, 2026) currently ranked No. 79 on the state's 2026 class, Perna showed out all day at the event. In gameplay, Perna sent one over the wall deep to left, during BP, was barrelling balls up to 101 mph which was a top for the event, worked line drives throughout the round. Led the event for infield velocity, tossing 87 mph across the diamond. Also, ran a impressive 6.86 60-yard time. Perna has all the tools and is a name to follow this summer. 

Pitchers

RHP Kyle McBride (Delbarton, 2027) showed well in his bullpen last week. The right-hander worked a a three pitch mix with the fastball at 86-88 T89 mph with an average spin rate of 2340 rpm, a slider at 75-78 mph with a average spin rate of 3338 rpm, and a changeup at 84-85 mph with an average of 15 in. of HM. McBride is ranked No. 11 in the state and will be in attendance at this month's Future Games. 

RHP Noah Hynes (Ranney, 2026) ranked No. 54 in the NJ 2026 class, the right-hander stands 6-foot, 186-pounds and had a three pitch arsenal. Hynes worked his fastball up to 89 mph, sitting 87-88 mph with run, a slider at 78-81 mph, and a changeup at 80-82 mph for strikes. 

RHP Nick Malinowski (Barnegat, 2027) a 6-foot, 206-pound right-hander worked a fastball at 87-89 T89.5 mph with a 78% zone percentage, a curveball at 72-76 mph with an average spin rate of 2500 rpm, and a changeup at 81 mph. Malinowski is another name that will be at the Future Games later this month. 

RHP Ted Masino (Delbarton, 2027) ranked No. 12 in the state's 2027 class, Masino impressed in his bullpen, had his fastball touching 88 mph, sitting 86-87 mph, a slider at 71-74 mph with 2236 rpm, and a cutter at 83-84 mph. Masino is a name to keep an eye on this summer. 

RHP Steven Pannullo (Delbarton, 2027) a 6-foot-1, 211-pound right-hander had one of the loudest bullpens at the event, currently ranked No. 10 in the state's 2027 class, Paunullo had the hardest fastball of the event at 90 mph, sitting  88-90 mph with an avg. spin rate of 2201 rpm, a slider at 77-82 mph with an avg. spin rate of 2100 rpm, and a changeup at 83-85 mph. Pannullo will be at the Future Games Later this month. 

LHP Daniel Pardini (Christian Brothers Academy, 2026) a Future Games alum, Pardini stood out at the event fron the left side, worked hi sfastball up to 89 mph, sat 87-88 mph with an avg. of 17 in. of IVB, threw a slider at 77-79 mph with a 70% zone percentage, and a changeup at 83-85 mph. Pardini is currently ranked No. 63 in the state's '26 class.

RHP Chase Collanni (DePaul Catholic, 2027) currently ranked No. 97 in the state's 2027 class, Collanni is a 6-foot-1, 168-pound right hander that impressed last week. Collanni ran his fastball up to 86 mph, with an avg. of 18 in. of IVB, worked his curveball at 70-72 mph with an avg. spin rate of 2567 rmp, a slider at 71-72 mph with an avg. of 18 in. of HM, and a changeup at 75-77 mph with a 75% zone percentage.
