NLG Scout Day: Takeaways

On Tuesday, June 20th, the Prep Baseball New Jersey staff traveled to Snyder Park in Union County, NJ for the NLG Scout Day.

This event is always a great opportunity for us to get our eyes on the talented players within the NLG organization and this year's showcase proved to be a success.

We wanted to take the time to highlight a number of the standout players from the event in a Takeaways story, found below.


Position Players

OF Jackson Crimaldi (Gov. Livingston, 2027) had a eye opeing performance at the Scout Day, the 6-foot-1, 196-pound outfielder led the event in multiple offensive catagories such as max EV (100.1), average EV (87.6), and hard hit % (50%). Also, led the event in hand speed max and average and was second in bat speed average and max. Crimaldi tossed 73 mph from the OF and ran a 7.32 60-yard time. The tools will continue to grow throughout his high school career. 
C Anthony De Leon (Paramus Catholic, 2026) currently ranked No. 151 in the NY 2026 class, De Leon impressed on both offense and defense throughout the event. At the plate, the right-hander had a max EV of 95 mph with an average of 87 mph and a max distance of 350'. De Leon also had the highest bat speed avg. (75 mph) and max (82.9 mph). Behind the plate, had the highest catcher velocity at 75 mph and best pop time range (1.90-1.96).

Two-Way Players

3B/RHP Jaiden Fernandez (Gov. Livingston, 2026) showed well on both sides throughout the event. The right-handed hitter had a max EV of 98.7 mph, which was the second best at the event. Also, had an average EV of 83 mph and max distance of 361'. Fernandez flashed bat speed throughout his round with an average bat speed of 72 mph. At 5-foot-10, 210-pounds ran a 7.18 60-yard time. On the mound, worked a three pitch mix with the fastball at 80-82 mph with an avg. of 20 in. of IVB, a slider at 74-76 mph for strikes, and a changeup at 72-76 mph with an average of 13 in. of IVB. Fernandez is a two-way name to follow from the event. 
3B/RHP Armando Aujusti Jr. (Linden, 2027) stood out as a two-way, with an intriguing offensive performance and quality bullpen. At the plate, had a max EV of 94 mph while averaging 86 mph and had a max distance of 370'. Also, threw 80 mph across the infield. In the bullpen, the right-hander worked his fastball up to 84 mph, sitting 82-84 mph with an average IVB of 21 in., threw a curveball at 68-69 mph with an average spin rate of 2173, and a changeup at 76-78 mph with an average of 14 in. of horizontal movement. 
OF/RHP Liam Ramos (West Orange, 2026) flashed athleticism at the event running a event best 6.85 60-yard time and had the best OF velocity at 85 mph. Ramos impressed in BP as well, peaking his EV at 91 mph with some bat speed. On the mound, had the highest fastball velocity at 87 mph, sitting 85-86 mph with an average spin rate of 2200 rpm, worked in a curveball at 67-72 mph, and a changeup at 72-75 mph with an average of 19.5 in. of total movement. Ramos had an all around impressive showing and is a name to follow.

Pitchers

LHP William Frey (Scotch Plains Fanwood, 2029) is a young, high spin southpaw that showed some impressive stuff in his bullpen. Frey showed a three pitch aresenal, starting with his fastball at 75-76 T77 mph, with an average spin rate of 2091 rpm, slider worked at 64-67 mph with an average spin rate of 2460 rpm, and a changeup at 70-71 mph. A young arm to follow throughout his high school career. 
RHP Jack Pimm (West Orange, 2026) at 6-foot-3, 180-pounds, Pimm had the second hardest fastball of the event and worked a four pitch mix. Pimm's fastball was 83-84 mph, with 23 in. of total movement. The right-hander's offspeeds consist of a curveball at 72-73 mph (2053 avg. rpm), a slider at 75-76 mph, and a changeup at 75-78 mph (20 in. of avg. total movement). An intriguing bullpen for the incoming senior.
