On Tuesday, July 1st, Prep Baseball of South Carolina hosted the Team Carolina Trials at The Univeristy of South Carolina in Columbia, SC.  This event serves as a key evaluation platform, helping identify prospects for several of the summer’s premier invite-only showcases, including the PB Senior Games, Top Prospect Games, PB Junior Future Games, PB Senior Future Games, and the PB Future Games.  The Trials featured players from the Class of 2026 through the Class of 2028.

During the event, position players participated in a professional-style workout that included a comprehensive defensive evaluation. Infielders and outfielders fielded ground balls and made throws, with arm strength recorded using a Stalker radar gun. Catchers executed throws to second base, with both arm strength and pop times measured.

Hitters underwent swing analysis with Blast Motion, while all ball flight data was recorded using TrackMan.  Speed and explosiveness were assessed through Vald Performance lasers, capturing 10-30-60-yard sprint splits, along with jump metrics.

Pitchers threw a controlled bullpen session, where each pitch was tracked by TrackMan to analyze ball movement and overall performance.

Charlie McCrory 3B / RHP / Spartanburg, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 22 / POS: 5 Big strong physical hitter that really impressed on the day with his bat.  Showed off big power while having a max exit velocity of 98.3 mph and a max distance of 387 feet.  Showed the ability to drive the ball to all fields with a short powerful swing.  Good overall athleticism as well and not just a hitter.  Fun youngster to watch play the game!

Drew Greer OF / C / Chapin, SC / 2026 Long lanky athletic frame with good athleticism.  Showed the abilty to handle the bat and preform behind the plate.  With th bat had a max exit velocity of 96.6 mph with a max distance of 339 feet, while showing off good bat speed.  Behind the plate showed good arm strength along with quick feet with a top pop time of 1.93.

NOAH LAYTON OF / OF / P27 Academy, SC / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 92 / POS: 16 Good tool set form this athletic OF.  While battling a quad that he tweaked down the home stretch of the 60 Noah still managed to run a 6.87 laser timed 60.  Also showed off a line drive approach in BP with gap to gap power with a top exit velocity of 93 mph and a max distance of 352 feet.

Cooper Derrick RHP / OF / Chapin, SC / 2027 2 way prospect that impressed all around.  On the mound showed off his arm while up to 85.6 mph while showing feel for a SL and a CH.  In the OF really showed some arm strength while up to 85 mph and with the bat showed off a gap to gap approach with consistent contact while up to 91.4 mph.

Bradley Sightler Jr. C / OF / Gilbert , SC / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 134 / POS: 17 Impresses and improves each time we see him and this time it was no different.  Behind the plate really showed off his abilty to throw while having quick footwork and exchanges with a top pop time of 1.90 with accuracy.  With the bat strength continues to come and improve in the line drive approach with good consistent contact and up to 90.4 mph with his exit velocity.

Ethan Madden C / OF / Lexington High School, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 26 / POS: 4 Strong physical frame with a short swing and good path through the ball.  Had a max exit velocity of 87.2 mph and a max distance of 310 feet.  Behind the plate showed of good clean footwork with a quick exchange while a hving a top pop time of 2.0 with being on the bag!

Griffin Hill 1B / RHP / Lexington, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 32 / POS: 4 Long lanky with with athleticism and good projection.  LHH shows a flat swing through the zone with good extension looking to drive the ball with gap to gap power.  On the mound keeps improving each time out as his FB was up to 81 mph while mixing in his breaking ball and change up.

Henry Rivers OF / RHP / Berkeley, SC / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 53 / POS: 10 Big time athlete and power arm.  Big winner on the mound this day as Henry lit up the trackman.  With big time athleticism and lighting quick arm fastball exploded out of his hand and was up to 90.1 mph with max spin rate of 2554 rpm.  Showed the ability to really spin the slider up to 78.9 mph with a max spin rate 2527 rpm.  Showed feel for a change up with some sinking action down in the zone.

Charles Becker RHP / 1B / James Island Charter, SC / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 17 / POS: 2 Big strong physical frame that shows the abililty to pitch and mix his pitches.  FB sat 83-86 and topped at 86.5 mph.  Spun a SL at 70-71 mph with a max spin of 2102 rpm.  Change up showed good sinking action down in zone at 74-76 mph.

Timothy Manning RHP / OF / Gray Collegiate Academy, SC / 2028 Youngster had a good day with the bat and on the mound.  Physical and athletic with projection left in the frame.  With the bat showed bat speed and strength while having a max exit velocity of 93.5 mph.  On the mound was up to 82.4 mph with feel for 3 pitches in the zone.
