Summer Spotlight: Hawk Licari

The summer is in full swing, and the Prep Baseball Arizona staff has hosted several events featuring talented uncommitted prospects. So far, we’ve completed two of three Summer ID events, showcasing standout players who earned invites to the Future Games in July. We also wrapped up both Top Prospect Games, which included many high-quality players from the classes of 2026 and 2027, with more Future Games invites handed out.
Our staff has had eyes on hundreds of players this summer, including an in-depth look at those who performed at our events. As the summer continues, we will be highlighting some of the top uncommitted prospects in Arizona who made strong impressions, with our Uncommitted Spotlight Series.
We continue to highlight summer standouts with ‘27 LHP Hawk Licari. At the Mesa Summer ID, Hawk was one of the top arms in attendance, earning himself an invite to the Future Games with a strong showing. During his bullpen, the left-hander sat 80–83 mph with his fastball, averaging 18.2 inches of IVB, giving it some swing-and-miss potential as he continues to add velocity. He paired it with a sharp 72 mph slider that he located consistently throughout the session. Licari also flashed a changeup with quality horizontal movement and enough separation from his heater to get outs. As he gears up for the Future Games, Licari will be a name to watch as he looks to turn heads on a bigger stage.

Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 5-11, 146-pounds.
Delivery: Little bit of a Crossfire delivery if he doesn't open the glove side shoulder early. Has a lot of horizontal break. Has a little bit of carry too. Could be better with his lower half, but it is repeatable. Good breaker movement wise, could locate better though.
Arm Action: LH. Twitchy, athletic arm, 3/4 delivery. He will cut the fastball at times. Arm works well, think there is more in the tank.
FB: T83, 80-83 mph. T2127, 1985 average rpm.
SL: 69-72 mph. T2213, 2104 average rpm.
CH: 70-73 mph. T2071, 1722 average rpm.
ATH: 7.55 runner in the 60. 1.81 and 4.17 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 25.00 max vertical.

Hit: LHH. Simple. Gets in back hip well. Quick athletic mover. Lower half leaks. Causing him to be dead pull at times. Bat speed is there. 70.2 mph bat speed with 9 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 99 max exit velocity, averaged 85.1 mph. 389' max distance.
Arm: LH. OF-83 mph.
