ALBERTVILLE, AL – The 2025 Yellowhammer State Games took place on Tuesday, June 17th and Wednesday, June 18th at Sand Mountain Park in Albertville, AL. This invite-only event brought together nearly 200 of the top high school prospects in Alabama from the 2026-2030 graduating classes. Over the course of two days, players participated in an extended pro-style workout featuring batting practice tracked by Trackman, 60-yard dash testing using VALD Performance, and more. Pitchers had the opportunity to compete in simulated innings during gameplay, capturing key metrics such as velocity, spin rate, and movement data via Trackman.

RHP/SS Garrett Reid (Deshler, 2026) was arugably the best arm to toe the rubber from the event, as the two-way right-hander punched out seven of the nine hitters he faced across three perfect innings. A 6-foot-0, 184-pounder coming off a spring where he led his team to a state title, Reid features a true 3/4 arm slot that produces a heavy arm-side running FB that ranged 84-86 mph and topped at 86.5 mph, which was located to both sides of the plate in the outing while averaging 17.0 in. of horizontal movement. The SL/CB combo as secondary offerings profiles well off of it, showing late, hard biting action with swing-and-miss traits in the low-70s. Can change arm slots and provides plenty of deception.

Appearing to be back at full-strength, RHP Silas Osbourn (Chelsea, 2026) delivered a strong outing to open up the second day of the event. At 6-foot-2, 188-pounds, the Mississippi Gulf Coast CC has a projectable frame with some noticeable added strength. The FB played at 87-88 mph consistently while topping at 89.0 mph, and showed extra carry in the zone with a 17.9 in. avg. IVB. With one of the better breaking balls from the event, the SL showcased hard, sweeping action at 76-79 mph with spin rates eclipsing the 2700 RPM mark. Led the event with a 115 Sweep+ score. Also turns over the CH well at 82-83 mph.

Entering the summer as a must-see uncommitted 2026, RHP Cooper Anderson (Vestavia Hills, 2026) did more than enough to further elevate his stock. A wiry, athletic 5-foot-10, 146-pounder, the right-hander hovered at 83-86 mph with the FB and topped at 86.6 mph, while getting and average of 18.8 in. of IVB and 2266 RPM. The SL truly sets him apart, which ranged 74-78 mph with hard bite and swing-and-miss capabilities. It spun upwards of 2864 RPM while averaging 2545 RPM and induced multiple uncomfortable swings in the outing. Punched out seven in his three innings of work.

RHP Boston Brown (Lakeside School, 2027) is widely-known as one of the top pitchers in the 2027 class and emerged as a clear standout after his few innings of work. A physical 6-foot-2, 212-pounder, Brown operated 86-87 mph and topped at 87.7 mph in the outing with rising action and an average of 20.0 in. of IVB. Features two distinct breaking balls; CB at 73-75 mph and a SL at 74-77 mph. Both show different shape and speed working well off of each other. Also flashed a 74-75 mph CH, as well. Quality pitch-ability and pounds the zone. Punched out five in the outing.

RHP Bryant Diddell (Mountain Brook, 2026) is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-hander who showcased a lively FB that seemed to play up a few ticks thanks to some impressive metrics on the pitch. Sitting 83-85 mph and topping at 85.9 mph, Diddell got swings-and-misses over barrels with the FB, which posted a 94 Hop+ score from the outing. Spinning over 2400 RPM with 19+ in. of IVB at times, the FB plays up some and is best when at the top of the zone. The SL/CB combo tunnels well off the fastball, but the FB showcased as one of the better ones from the event in terms from a metric standpoint, and will only continue to improve as he adds velocity. Struck out seven in the outing.

RHP/3B Matthew Drinkwater (James Clemens, 2026) flashed on both sides of the ball in the event, but the arm delivered one of the better outings on the mound. A primary stretch-worker with an easy, low-pulse, operation, the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder cruised at 85-86 mph throughout the outing using a FB that showcased some sinking action. Flipping in a CB/SL combo that showed different shapes, the right-hander produced weak contact and swings-and-misses in the outing while striking out six hitters across three perfect frames. Also a line-drive right-handed bat with consistent mid-90 EVs during BP.

One of the top southpaws in the 2026 class, LHP Jack Diefenderfer (Prattville Christian, 2026) delivered a quality outing striking out six across his three innings of work. A 6-foot-4, 223-pounder, the Pearl River CC recruit hovered at 82-86 mph throughout the outing while showcasing heavy sinking action and making it tough for hitters to square up the baseball. Averaging -17.1 in. of horizontal movement, the pitch has tons of movement and is shows some heavy life to it. Spinning at 68-71 mph, the CB has some sweeping action across the zone and is a difficult pitch for both-sided hitters for barrel up. Impressive stuff and is hard to it when located in the zone.

RHP Joshua Wilhide (Bob Jones, 2026) showcased some quality stuff on the mound while limiting barrels and pounding the zone in his outing. At 6-foot-0, 195-pounds, the uncommitted right-hander has a high slot and a repeatable delivery that produces a well-rounded four-pitch mix. The FB consistently ranged 83-86 with occasional IVB over 20 in. allowing it to get some extra life with the higher slot. CB has more 12-6 bite and is tough to pick up out of the hand, while the SL is firmer with more side-to-side action. Mixed in a couple changeups to left-handed hitters at 78-81 mph, as well.

RHP Wilson Szymela (Vestavia Hills, 2026) logged some key innings for the Rebels this spring and is off to a strong start to his summer season. At 6-foot-3, 205-pounds, Szymela has a starter build and clean, easy mechanics throughout his delivery. The FB was more 83-84 mph with quality sinking action in this look, but has been in the mid-to-upper-80s this summer. Still effective in this viewing, the right-hander compliments the FB with a firm, late-biting SL that sat 76-79 mph with shorter action to it. Also showcased an arm-side fading changeup at 76-78 mph with killed spin. Strike-thrower with quality SNK/SL mix.

LHP Andrew Barnsby (Huntsville, 2026) may have ended up being our staff's favorite arms to throw from the event. While it's not overpowering stuff, the southpaw shows tons of feel for how to pitch and can throw any of his three quality pitches at any time. At 5-foot-10, 161-pounds, Barnsby has some slight cross-fire action in the delivery to provide some deception. FB ranged 78-81 mph with excellent arm-side command while average -11.2 in. of horizontal movement. CB/SL mix was arguably the best secondary pitch from the event, spinning 67-70 mph with spin rates nearing 3000 RPM and hard, late 1-7 bite. Also shows a diving CH at 72-74 mph with profiles well off of the FB. Faced nine hitters in three perfect innings; struck out five and induced four weak groundouts.

Showcasing a primarily two-pitch mix, RHP Cullen Patrick (McGill-Toolen Catholic, 2026) displayed some quality swing-and-miss stuff for an uncommitted rising senior. Sitting 85-87 mph and touching 87.9 mph, the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder gets good riding life through the zone with standout metrics of 2358 RPM avg. and 18.7 in. of IVB. The SL spins 77-78 mph, showing some firmness with some hard, sweeping action across the zone and spin rates nearing 2300 RPM.

A notable two-way prospect, RHP/OF Brady Sack (Auburn, 2027) may offer up even more upside on the mound. An athletic operation and delivery, the 6-foot-0, 168-pounder worked up to 87.1 mph while sitting 83-86 mph in the outing. The FB showcases natural arm-side action with some carry when elevated, but the CB is the separator for Sack, being able to land it for strikes and for chase in late counts in the low-70s. Rounds it out with an upper-70s CH. Big tools on the positional player side with quality metrics on the mound.

RHP/SS Brayden Cash (Bibb County, 2027) has seemed to really take a big step forward on the mound in the recent year. A wiry 5-foot-9, 144-pounder, the rising junior showcases quality strike-throwing ability and elite competitiveness on the mound while sitting 84-87 mph with the FB. The H 3/4 arm slot generates some arm-side run, while also showing the ability to tunnel the SL/CB combo off of the same plane with spin rates in the 24-2600 RPM range.

RHP Jack Pritchett (Demopolis, 2026) is another name-to-know uncommitted rising senior arm to follow this summer. A 6-foot-2, 180-pounder, Pritchett showcases a quick arm out of a H 3/4 arm slot that produces a FB that ranged 82-87 mph in this outing. Has been up to 90 mph in the past. SL has slurvy shape to it with the ability to use as a put-away pitch late in at-bats. Spins 75-78 mph with late bite. CH has some diving action at 78-80 mph.

Picking up a couple strikeouts throughout three clean innings of work, RHP Wyatt Pippin (Faith Academy, 2026) consistently missed barrels during his outing. A 6-foot-1, 197-pounder, Pippin displayed a quick arm action in the delivery that helped deliver an 83-85 mph FB that topped at 86.5 mph. Has some arm-side run and occasional cut to it. SL has hard sweeping shape spinning 72-76 mph with -13.7 in. of avg. horizontal movement and a 103 Sweep+ score.

Pitching out of a 3/4 arm slot, RHP/SS Joshua Tuttle (Thompson, 2026) generates tons of sinking action to his FB. An athletic 5-foot-11, 176-pounder with some two-way ability, Tuttle impressed even more on the mound, where he ranged 82-85 mph and posting a 110 Sink+ score with 7.9 in. avg. IVB and 15.3 in. of HZM. Misses barrels and forces weak ground ball contact. SL has firm, lateral shape with good bite to it, spinning 75-78 mph with 2600 RPM. CH has fading action and is a good change of pace at 76-79 mph off the FB.

RHP Reece Brazeal (Bob Jones, 2026) worked up to 85 mph in his outing while mixing two quality secondary offerings in the process. A long, projectable 6-foot-5, 187-pounder, Brazeal has a quick, compact arm action that helped produce a low-80s FB. The CB has 11-5 shape with good downer action to it sitting 68-69 mph, while the SPL is a low-spin third offering spinning single digits at times at 74-77 mph. Has been up to 88 mph previously and pitched well in the spring.

RHP Luke Knight (Benjamin Russell, 2027) was a fun arm to watch pitch, and not because of high velocity, but because the feel to pitch was impressive and nothing in the arsenal stayed straight. A long-limbed 6-foot-1, 165-pounder, Knight has a lower arm slot that helps induce tons of sinking action to the FB, which ranged 79-81 mph with a 2404 RPM avg. Slider has good metrics, spinning 73-75 mph with 2429 RPM avg., -0.2 in. IVB, and -8.3 in. HZM. CT also showed late darting action in the mid-70s, while also being able to turn over a heavy arm-side fading CH at 79-80 mph. Not a very fun at-bat.

There's plenty to like in the arm of LHP Nolan Alexander (Oak Mountain, 2026), who punched out six hitters in his three innings on the mound. A tall 6-foot-4, 219-pound southpaw, Alexander topped at 84.0 mph with the FB while spinning at upwards of 2450 RPM at the top of the zone with some carry. The SL ranged 75-76 mph with tight, horizontal bite at a top spin of 2826 RPM. Also showed a 76 mph CH as his third offering.

Showing a long, loose arm action, RHP Barron Gatlin (Northridge, 2026) punched out four batters in a quality few innings of work on the mound. An athletic, projectable 6-foot-3, 195-pounder, worked up to 85 mph and sat moslty low-80s in the outing while getting some tailing action to his FB. CB gets sharp, downer action from 11-5 depth spinning at 68-72 mph, while the CH is a low-spin offering that plays well off of the FB.
