Knoxville Summer ID: Quick Hits

Prep Baseball Tennessee Staff

KNOXVILLE, TN — The Knoxville Summer ID was held at Knoxville Catholic High School on Tuesday, July 8th that featured top talent from the 2026-2030 classes. Players went through a pro-style workout with TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance tech, while pitchers threw in a bullpen setting and were able to get data and metrics on our TrackMan unit.

Some prospects built on past showings, while others made strong first impressions.

We kick off our post-event coverage with a look at the statistical leaderboards, with more breakdowns and full scouting reports coming soon.

QUICK HITS

+ Cole Creasman (Farragut, 2028) The sophomore from Farragut High showed out as a big left handed bat that showed tremendous lift. Creasman works from a simple setup with a short stride and creates good lift. Profiles as a power hitting corner infielder that should thrive as at the powerhouse program at Farragut. Has a rare combination of size and speed showcasing a 7.03 60 with his 6’1 190 lb frame. Also showed off a strong arm with a 87 mph velocity across the infield.

+ Tallen VanOrtwick (Maryville, 2028) Sophomore middle infielder who showed tremendous twitchiness in every aspect of his game. In the infield, the actions are advanced with very little wasted movement with good feet that allows him to take good angles. The arm will improve with strength. At the plate, VanOrtwick has a simple stride with a good path. Very twitchy at the plate that will allow him to hit velocity. Posted a 88 mph exit velocity which will only increase with added strength.

+ Parks Lederer (Webb, 2028) Primary first baseman that profiles as a power hitting corner infielder. Showed good presence at first with sneak athleticism and ability to get to tough picks. At the plate, works off of timing with a bit of a stride and high hands. Lederer does a good job of creating lift and power with a 86 mph max exit velocity. Has a lot of power left in the tank that will come with added strength in high school.

+ Kingsley Lorusso (Farragut, 2029) A rising freshman that showed out with advanced actions in every aspect of the game. In the infield, Lorusso has quick feet that allows him to take good angles. The arm is already pretty strong at 77 mph and will get stronger as he gets older. At the plate, there is a slight leg kick and super whippy bat that helps him turn on velocity. Lorusso shows early signs of having twitchiness especially at the plate.

+ Gavin Bergeron (Christian Academy of Knoxville, 2026) A junior middle infielder that has good actions with the quickness to stay in the middle of the field long term. Also, showcased a strong arm with a velocity up to 88 mph. At the plate, Bergeron has a strong base and stays on his backside well. Had an max exit velocity of 95 mph but an even more impressive average exit velocity of 89 mph. One of the best uncommitted players in the state that plays a prime position. Will be a sought after commodity really soon.

+ Benjamin Hamilton (Grace Christian Academy, 2028) Just an all out loud afternoon from the rising sophomore from Grace Christian Academy. We were a heavy follow on the freshman this past spring where he was a steady presence in the two-hole, showing real ability as one of the top hitters in the 2028 class. Belted a few balls out of the park to RCF with a max EV of 93 mph on a 360 ft shot. Calm actions with a slight leg lift towards the mound. Stays through the ball well after impact and looks to spray up the middle and to the gaps. Will need to continue to refine the arm strength but the potential is there and is already leading the charge as one of my favorite pure hitters in the 2028 class.

+ Brody Waller (Christian Academy of Knoxville, 2026) The uncommitted rising senior has been a guy that we have liked since the first time we saw him a little over a year ago. Strong and athletic body that already shows present physicality in the profile. One of the cleanest first baseman's that you will find in the class. Moves well to his glove side showing quality range at first. Looked really good on the mound where he worked the fastball up to 82 with late arm side run. In the box, worked from an even setup and spread balls to multiple parts of the field finishing with a max 96 EV on a 340 ft shot. Consistent across the board with linedrive/groundball/flyball. Goes where the pitch takes him. Has been a steady riser in the class and will make a great late addition to a college trying to snag another 1st baseman.

+ Camden Huckaby (Hardin Valley, 2026) Huckaby has been someone that we have followed closely over the last year getting looks this past spring and then again this summer at NPI where we saw him up to 90 mph. Big and sturdy frame at 6 foot 4 and 240 pounds. Would like to see him stay over his body more before leg push off but shows present ability to manipulate the fastball where he fired heaters in at 86-87, while topping 88 mph. The breaking ball needs some refinement but shows future ability. I was a fan of the changeup and I do believe that their is more in the pitch in terms of HZM. Will make a great addition for a college looking to add another arm with some projection.

+ Spencer Moore (Briarcrest Christian, 2026) The uncommitted rising senior may be one of the top remaining pitchers on the market for the class where he comes in with good length at 6 foot 2 and 185 pounds. Works from an over the top arm slot that allows him to work downhill and on target towards home. Fired fastballs in at 88-91 with command of glove side. The curveball is legit where it comes in at 74-76 with -10 inches of IVM with -7 inches of HZM that eats both left and right handed hitters up. It is a legit two-pitch mix offering with closer or longer relief upside at the D1 level. Should get a lot more looks this fall going into his spring season.
