QUICK HITS

Colton Baron RHP / OF / Siegel, TN / 2026

Baron gave us another great look at Riverdale after watching him pitch this summer on the showcase circuit at NPI down in Atlanta .After missing the back-end of his sophomore season from an elbow injury, Baron looks back on track and in a lot of ways, back to his old form. The velo came in at 86-88 with good run and boar to arm side. He already shows quality command with that offering and shows good deception down the mound hiding the ball late. Baron also showed two distinct breaking-balls with a curveball at 72-74 with downhill tilt and horizontal plane movement. The slider also flashed in at 74-77 with sharper horizontal and zero vertical giving it true sweeperish actions. The changeup may be the best secondary offering currently where it comes in with killed spin in the 1700-1800’s with present feel for the strike-zone. With a solid pitch combination, projectable build, and room to grow velocity, he’s a strategic target for many D1 schools looking to add another arm to the fold.

Thomas Evans OF / RHP / Webb, TN / 2026

After recently decommiting from ULM, Evans is a guy looking to get his name back out their in the recruiting world where he comes with present projectable traits and abilities on the mound. Athletic and slimmer build with muscle at 5 foot 10 and 200 pounds, there looks like there is more velo in the body currently. He would sit low to mid 0’s with late run to arm side. Should eat a lof of right-handed hitters up and induces a lot of weak ground-bal contact. The breaking-ball needs some refinement but does come with some deception in the delivery. The changeup is his go-to secondary at 74-76 and is tunneled well out of the hand. All in all, Evans comes with major upside and should start getting more attention as the summer concludes into the fall.

Caleb Gilbert RHP / 2B / Nolensville, TN / 2026

The rising senior gave us our first look at the righthander and we left impressed with the makeup and overall projection. Coming in at 6 foot and 160 pounds, Gilbert looks likely to see his body feel out as he goes into next season. The fastball shows some present life sitting in the 83-86 range, while topping 87 with decent spin and command of the strike-zone. The slider looks legit with almost 19 inches of average sweep with 2600 RPM’s. He will need to get it faster but should play above average. The changeup also showed quality shape with great tunneling out of hand and killed spin. This will be a big summer and fall for him and looks likely to hop on some schools radars going into this next spring where he looks to get an uptick in innings.

LJ Drayton SS / OF / Smyrna High School, TN / 2028

The Smyrna native got our attention this past spring where he was a standout on both sides of the ball. Started shortstop as a freshman, while batting in the top of the lineup. Smooth actions defensively with range to both his sides of his body. Made a really impressive play moving to his gloveside, while showing quality footwork contorting his body around and making an accurate throw to first while moving to the outfield. Shows some decent pop in the barrel with more to come in the future as he feels out. Definitely was one of the more standout participants and looks capable of sticking at shortstop at the next level

Russell River Johnston C / RHP / Hillwood High, TN / 2027

The 2027 class prospect had a very impressive day in multiple facets and has quickly been a guy that we have circled going forward. Measured in at 6 foot 1 and 160 pounds in a long and lean frame that looks capable of putting on muscle quickly as he matures. Clocked a 6.92 sixty with some present athleticism. Was a major standout at the catching position where he shows quick and easy transfers with a developing arm that clocked into the 77 mph range. Mobile hips and quality footwork from behind the dish with dart throws to 2nd base. Flashed low 1.9’s and will be a guy that we continue to monitor.

Scout Loftis 1B / OF / Lebanon High School, TN / 2027

The rising junior outfielder had one of the louder days where he showed present ability in multiple parts of his game. High-wasited with present length in the frame at 6 foot 2 and 190 pounds. Clocking his sixty at 6.63 with quick legs and long strides. Looks very capable of moving left to right as well. Had one of the hardest batted exit velo’s at 94 with an average just south of 84 for his round. Will need to get his arm strength better but shows a lot of present traits.

Ty McKenzie II SS / RHP / Lipscomb Academy, TN / 2029

The rising freshman hasn’t hit his maturity just yet but leaves a lot to like as he heads into his freshman season. Shows good footworks with short steps defensively and moved pretty well to both sides of his body with ability to sink the hips and work through the baseball as he made his transition to throw to first. The strength will come and so will the rest of the game as he gets going into his high school career. The arm strength is already strong coming into the low 80’s and looks capable of continuing that trend. Shows a lot of potential in the frame and someone that we look forward to as he gets going at Lipscomb Academy.

Jack Schmahl LHP / 1B / Oakland, TN / 2028

The rising sophomore from Oakland High School has been a kid that we have heard some rumblings about over this past spring and he was very impressive in our first look at the left-handed pitcher. Worked the fastball in the 80-83 with 20 average vertical angle on the heater. Showed two distinct shapes on the breakings balls with a slider at 69-70 with sweep and a curveball at 65-67 with depth. Shows feel for four potential offerings with more velocity to come.

Miles McClure C / RHP / South Gibson, TN / 2028

Another quality talent and projectable arm coming out of South Gibson, a thing we continue to see and Miles McClure is no different. Easy and controlled tempo down the mound with late release out of hand. Shows some whippiness to the arm action that remains under control with well timed mechanics. Fired his fastball in at 82-83 living consistently on the vertical axis. Flashed a curveball at 68-71 with both depth and sweep. Flashed a slider at 72-73 with 8 inches of average sweep. The best secondary looked to be the changeup where it came in at 72-75 with feel for the release, while flashing 12 inches of average horizontal movement. Had a very standout day on the mound and will be a guy we continue to monitor as he develops.
