Winners

+ ‘26 OF/C Jace Watson (Castle HS) was the biggest winner from the event. He looked the part at check-in with a physical 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame. Watson showed an improved run tool from the winter, getting the day started with a 6.65 60-yard dash. He displayed bat strength during BP, peaking at 98.3 mph exit velocity, averaging 88.9 mph, with a max distance of 317 feet. Watson hits from a balanced stance with a quick leg lift; the hands are active, and the barrel works on a flatter path. He showed present pull-side strength throughout his round, and there’s bat speed in the swing. Defensively, Watson flashed an above-average arm both from the outfield (85 mph) and behind the plate (76 mph). He moved well with athletic footwork in the outfield and recorded a best pop time of 2.07 from the crouch. Overall, it was encouraging to see Jace continue improving his run tool, and with a proven track record of impacting the baseball from the left side, he remains a quality uncommitted option still on the board.

+ ‘28 RHP Dylan Chism (Norwell HS) showed well once again after standing out during our winter Preseason ID series. Chism boasts a stocky, 6-foot, 180 pound frame. He lifts to a moderate balance point with a slight inward turn before working down the slope with a simple, shorter stride. The arm action is very short and deceptive, coming from a H 3/4 slot with some effort. Chism sat 84-86.3 mph on his fastball throughout, showing carry through the zone with 17.6" of IVB. He showed solid control, working to both sides of the plate effectively. He spun two breaking balls — a 72-74 mph slider with sweep, and a 68-70 mph curveball that offered more depth. The young righty logged 31.1 innings as a freshman on a 3A sectional championship team, posting a strong 1.56 ERA. Chism remains a solid follow in the class, showing raw arm strength, solid spin, and early varsity success.

‘27 RHP Malachi Webb (DeKalb HS) was an intriguing pop-up who made a solid impression during the pitching portion of the event. Webb stands at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds and uses a taller balance point with a controlled delivery. He moves well down the slope for his size, and the arm works long and quick to a high 3/4 release. Webb sat 82-84 mph with his fastball, reaching back for a couple of 86s and topping out at 87.9 mph. The fastball showed carry through the zone and he demonstrated solid glove-side command. He also spun two breaking balls — a 72-73 mph curveball and a 73-74 mph slider that worked with more side-to-side action.
