Quick Hits: 2025 Baton Rouge Summer ID

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Zachary, LA - On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to the Zachary Youth Park, to host the final open event on our summer calendar, which featured over 60 uncommitted prospects from the state's 2026-2028 classes.  Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Vald Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion.  Pitchers finished the day off by throwing a bullpen with Trackman Baseball running to receive all of their data and metrics.  Below, we take a look at some of the top performers from Tuesday's event.

TOP PERFORMERS

Robert Adair 1B / Walker, LA / 2026

Physical 6-2, 230-pound frame.  The Walker product took one of the loudest rounds of batting practice on Tuesday, as he launched several balls out of the park to the pull-side.  Adair starts in a slightly open and upright stance, and uses a simple load & stride to get to center.  He hangs on his back leg during his load and stays there, as he uses a strong lower-half to turn the barrel to contact with an uphill path and extension to match that produced exit velocities up to 100.3 mph.

Jack Lee RHP / Alexandria Senior, LA / 2027

There's always a guy or two every summer who comes out of nowhere and Lee is that player for this summer.  The Alexandria Senior High product provided an eye-opening look at Tuesday's event.  Using a simple and repeatable delivery with a shorter arm stroke, Lee did an excellent job of locating his 86-91 mph fastball to the bottom of the zone, which paired well with his short & tight "11-5" shaped 72-74 mph curveball.  He also flashed a 75-78 mph slider and a developing 76-77 mph changeup.  He's got a durable 6-3, 200-pound frame and with a fastball already into the low-90s, Lee is a guy that college recruiters should try to see this summer.  For his performance on Tuesday, he earned an invite to our be on our coveted Future Games team later this month.

Paul Dufrene RHP / 1B / John Curtis Christian, LA / 2028

The Bayou State's 2028 class showed well at Tuesday's event and Dufrene was at the top of that list.  6-4, 165-pound long, lean, and projectable frame; it's easy to dream on what he'll likely become once he gains more strength and physicality.  The John Curtis Christian product is a good athlete, as evidenced by his 6.71 laser-timed 60 yard dash time.  He also showed some bat speed and strength at the plate with a max exit velocity of 97.7 mph, but on the mound is where his highest upside lies.  Dufrene used a quick arm action to release the ball from a 3/4-high 3/4 slot, and he flashed feel for both a four-seam and two-seam fastball in the 84-87 mph range.  He tunneled a 74-76 mph slider well off of it too with sharp break down & across the zone.

Kameron Bailey OF / LHP / Zachary, LA / 2027

The Zachary product provided one of the most intriguing looks at Tuesday's event.  Bailey is another really good athlete that posted a 6.97 laser-timed 60 and was up to 94.4 mph at the plate with some present bat speed.  His prospects on the mound, however, got us really excited.  He's an athletic mover down the slope with a clean arm stroke, and he showed feel for all four of his pitches for strikes.  Bailey located his 80-81 mph fastball to both sides of the plate and the pitch plays up, thanks to an average induced vertical break of 22.3".  He also showed an innate ability to spin the baseball with his 66-67 mph "1-7" shaped curveball and low-70s sweeping slider.  Both pitches stayed in the 2500-2600 rpm range.  Adding to Bailey's intrigue is the fact that he's super young for his class and won't turn 18 until September of his freshman year in college.

Brady Bell C / RHP / West Monroe, LA / 2028

6-2, 190-pound physical frame with room to still project for more.  Bell was another 2028 prospect that caught our attention on Tuesday.  On the mound, he works off the first base side of the rubber throughout a smooth delivery and strides slightly closed, which creates a tough look for right-handed hitters.  Using a longer arm stroke and an over-the-top release, Bell delivered bowling ball like 85-87 mph fastballs to the bottom of the zone with arm-side sink & run.  It's a heavy heater that should produce a lot of weak groundball contact.  He also showed feel for a short breaking 73-74 mph curveball with "11-5" shape and a late-fading 76-78 mph changeup.
