Baseball Warehouse 2028 Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Monday, June 16th, the Prep Baseball New Jersey staff traveled to the North Brunswick Community Park in North Brunswick, NJ for the Baseball Warehouse 2028 Scout Day.

This event is always a great opportunity for us to get our eyes on the talented players from the 2028 class apart of the Baseball Warehouse orginazation and this year's showcase proved to be a successful.

We wanted to take the time to highlight a number of the standout players from the event in a Quick Hits story, found below.


Position Players

1B Cooper Crawford (Metuchen, 2028) put together a loud round of BP last week. At 6-foot-1, 235-pounds, Crawford showed EVs up to 95 mph with an average of 91 mph. Worked line drives throughout his round with a 67% hard hit rate (90+ EV) and a max distance of 307'. 

C/3B Tyrus Lazar (Spotswood, 2028) impressed in his PB Showcase debut. A physical 6-foot, 220-pound right-handed hitter had a quality round of BP with a max EV of 93 mph and an average of 85 mph. Behind the plate, Lazar had clean actions with a pop time range of 1.99-2.10 while throwing 75 mph from the chute. 

UTL Jack Kobylakiewicz (Woodbridge, 2028) showed off some athleticism at last weeks's Scout Day. Kobylakiewicz ran a 7.16 60-yard dash, which was the second best time of the event. Also, put together a intriguing round of BP, with a max EV of 89 mph the right-hander got on top of the ball, working gaps throughout. 

OF Ryan Cunha (Bound Brook, 2028) showed well all around last week. At 5-foot-7, 125 pounds, Cunha ran a 7.23 60-yard time and tossed 80 mph from the outfield. During his BP round, peaked at 86 mph EV and showed to be an athletic prospect with clean movements and actions. 

3B Dylan Stephen (Woodbridge, 2028) stands a physical 5-foot-11, 185-pounds and put together a loud round of BP. Stephen has a strong swing with bat speed, peaking his EV at 90 mph and a max distance of 314'. The infielder also tossed 79 mph across the diamond. Stephan is a prospect to follow as he will continue to get stronger and number will shoot up. 

UTL Matt Chin (Old Bridge, 2028) has an athletic 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame. Chin led the event with a 6.90 60-yard dash, and also showed well during BP. The right-hander flashed ability to hit to all fields and peaked his EV at 90 mph with a max distance of 315'. Chin is a versitile prospect to follow throughout his high school career. 

Two-Way Players

1B/RHP Devin Jackson (Middlesex, 2028) had a impressive 6-foot-4, 190-pound athletic frame. The long levered two-way showed well in BP and on the mound. In his round of BP, Jackson showed power to the pullside gap and had a peak EV of 92 mph with an average EV of 85 mph and a max distance of 335'. On the mound, used a fastball at 78-80 T81 mph with an avg. of 21.8 in. of total movement, a curveball at 62-65 mph, and a changup at 69-71 mph with an avg. of 14.7 in of HM. 

3B/RHP Jaxon Cronin (Old Bridge, 2028) is a physical 5-foot-11, 200-pound switch hitter that impressed last week. Cronin ran a 7.27 60-yard time and had a intriguing round of BP. The third basemen had a max EV of 94 mph with an agressive swing. On the mound, worked a fastball 77-81 T82 mph (2072 avg. spin rate), curveball at 68-70 mph, and a changeup at 72-73 mph for strikes. 

Pitchers

LHP AJ Sicinski (Old Bridge, 2028) thew well in his bullpen last week. The 6-foot-3, 218-pound southpaw used a fastball and curveball mix. Sicinski had his fastball at 76-80 T82 mph with an avg. of 15 in. of IVB and a curveball at 64-65 mph with an avg. of 13 in. of HM. Sicinski is a strike thrower with an impressive showing. 

LHP Thomas Mierzwiak (Red Bank Catholic, 2028) is a tall, lanky left-hander standing 6-foot-2, 180-pounds with a three pitch mix. Starting with the fastball at 75-78 mph with an avg. spin rate of 2196 rpm and strikes, a curveball at 65-69 mph with an avg. spin rate of 2232 rpm, and a changeup at 71-73 mph with sink and an avg of 14.6 in. of IVB.
