Intensity Scout Day: Takeaways

On Wednesday, June 18th, the Prep Baseball New Jersey staff traveled to The Ballpark at Farmingdale in Farmingdale, NJ for the Intensity Baseball Scout Day.

This event is always a great opportunity for us to get our eyes on the talented players within the Intensity Baseball organization and this year's showcase proved to be a success.

We wanted to take the time to highlight a number of the standout players from the event in a Takeaways story, found below.


Position Players

INF Jackson Soos (Wall, 2028) currently the 10th ranked prospect in the state’s 2028 class and No. 1 SS in the state, Soos had the loudest round of BP at the event. The right-hander stands 6-foot-1, 180-pounds and led the event in nearly every offensive category, leading with max EV (97.1), avg. EV 92.6, max distance (337’), and hard hit % (85%). The infielder also had the second best infield velocity at 88 mph. An impressive performance for the incoming sophomore.

MIF Ryan Todisco (Howell, 2026) had a loud round of BP at the event. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound left-hander was lacing balls up to 95 mph, which was second best at the event, averaging 89 mph with a max distance of 326’, worked on top of the baseball throughout the round with a number of line drives. Todisco led the event with a 90 mph infield velocity, increasing his velo by seven mph from earlier this summer.

OF Matthew Catalfumo (Red Bank Catholic, 2027) a 6-foot-4, 195-pound lanky right-hander, Catalfumo was on the barrel throughout his round of BP, peaking his EV at 91 mph, working line drives throughout. The outfielder tossed 81 mph from his position. Catalfumo will continue to add strength and with a 6-foot-4 frame is a player to follow through the summer.

MIF Declan Brain (Barnegat, 2027) had an all-around eye opening performance, the 6-foot, 170-pound infielder had the third best infield velocity at 85 mph, and ran a 7.15 60-yard time. During BP, Brain maxed out at 89 mph EV with predominantly line drives in his round.

OF Jack Soltis (Manasquan, 2027) displayed an intriguing performance at the event. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound outfielder had a max EV of 86 mph with an average of 82 mph. Soltis was on the barrel throughout the round and was hitting live drives at a 50% clip. Soltis will continue to gain strength and numbers will continue to rise.

C Tyler Shpiro (St. John Vianney, 2026) the 5-foot-11, 190-pound backstop was arguably the top performing catcher from the event. Behind the plate tossed 75 mph from the chute and had a pop time range of 1.96-2.03. In BP, Shpiro had a max EV of 86 mph and had a line drive percentage of 64%. Also, had an avg. EV of 82 mph and a max distance of 300’.

C John Loizos (Point Pleasant Boro, 2026) is another top performing catcher from the event. Had the lowest pop time from the event at 1.93-2.05 and tossed 74 mph from the crouch. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max EV of 84 mph with an average of 80 mph, a catcher to follow from the event.

Two-Way Players

RHP/OF Owen Hart (Point Pleasant Boro, 2029) is a young two-way prospect that stood out at the event. Hart impressed on the mound with the third hardest fastball of the event, up to 84 mph, sitting 83-84 mph with an avg. of 18 in. of IVB. Also, worked a curveball at 70-73 mph, and a changeup at 73-77 mph with an avg. of 15 mph of HM. At the plate, had a max EV of 93 mph with an avg. of 84 mph and a max distance of 311’. Hart is a high follow that broke out at the Scout Day.

Pitchers

RHP Ryan Spencer (Colts Neck, 2026) had one of the loudest bullpens of the day, working his fastball up to 87 mph, sitting 86-87 mph throughout with an avg. of 17 in. of IVB, used a curveball at 71-72 mph with a 75% zone percentage, and changeup at 76-78 mph. The right-hander stands 5-foot-10, 165-pounds.

RHP Brandon Wilson (Jackson Memorial, 2027) was a stand-out arm from the event, Wilson is 6-foot, 190-pounds and worked a three pitch mix, starting with a fastball at 82-85 T86 mph for strikes, a curveball at 71-72 mph with an avg. spin rate of 2201 rpm, and a changeup at 76-80 mph. Wilson had the second highest fastball velocity of the day.

RHP Henry Hamm (West Windsor-Plainsboro South, 2028) is a young right-hander that had an intriguing bullpen. Hamm showed three pitches in his ‘pen, had a fastball at 82-84 mph with an average of 21 in. of total movement. Also, showed off a curveball at 64-65 mph, and a changeup at 65-67 mph with a 75% zone percentage.

RHP Lucca Strome (Rumson-Fair Haven, 2026) impressed in his Prep Baseball debut. In his first bullpen in front of our staff, the right-hander showed high spin and a four pitch mix. The fastball sat 80-82 T83 mph with an avg. of 2274 rpm, the curveball was 65-67 mph with 2284 rpm, changeup at 71-72 mph with an avg. of 19 in. of HM, and a slider at 65-68 mph with an avg. spin rate of 2332 rpm.

LHP Aiden Moylan (Toms River South, 2027) was the top southpaw at the Scout Day, Moylan stands 6-foot, 180-pounds and worked his fastball up to 83 mph, sitting 80-82 mph with an avg. of 18 in. of IVB, worked his curveball at 67-68 mph, and a changeup at 72-74 mph with a 75% zone percentage.
