Event Preview: 2025 Louisiana Top Prospect Games

Louisiana Scouting Director

Lafayette, LA - On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff will travel to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette to host the lone invite-only event of the summer with our Top Prospect Games.  This event has turned out to be the biggest event in the Bayou State each summer, and this year over 100 of the top prospects in Louisiana's 2026-2028 classes will come together tomorrow for a jam-packed day of competition.  The Louisiana Top Prospect Games will also serve as a major identifier for our Future Games and Senior Future Games teams this summer.  Each participant will go through a pro-style workout that will consist of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Vald Performance, defensive evaluations, batting practice using Trackman Baseball, and pitchers will get to throw live to hitters during the gameplay portion of the event with Trackman Baseball running to receive all of their key data and metrics.  Below, we take a look at the history of this event, the schedule, and some players that we're looking forward to seeing tomorrow.

EVENT HISTORY

Last year's Louisiana Top Prospect Games has seen a total of 57 prospects who ended up committing to play at the next level, and that number will only continue to grow over the coming months.  One of those guys, 2025 SS Blaze Rodriguez, recently committed the University of Louisiana-Lafayette after a big spring season for the Jaguars.  Rodriguez was one of several standout performers at the Louisiana Top Prospect Games last summer.

2025 Blaze Rodriguez (Pope John Paul II HS)

Another guy who had a stellar performance last year was 2025 C Andrew Clapinski.  The LSU-Eunice recruit was named our Player of the Year for the 2025 season after leading the Bears to back-to-back State Titles this spring.  Clapinski hit .460 with 6 home runs, 13 doubles, 2 triples, and 41 runs batted in.

2025 Louisiana Top Prospect Games: Players to Watch

There's a handful of players headed to Louisiana-Lafayette tomorrow who we've seen before and are excited to get an up-to-date look at, as well as a couple of new faces.  Let's check out a couple of those players below.

2026 Class

2026 LHP Zant Gurney (Live Oak HS)

The uncommitted senior southpaw went 9-2 with a 1.64 ERA for a Eagles team that made it all the way to the LHSAA Division I (Non-Select) State Championship series.

The Rebels have quite the run the last couple of years, as they've won back-to-back LHSAA Division II (Select) State Titles, and Power has been a big part of the team's success.  The uncommitted switch-hitting middle infielder hit at a .474 clip this spring with 1 home run, 9 doubles, 1 triple, and 36 runs batted in.

The former Junior Future Gamer had another outstanding season on the mound for the Tors.  Wilson picked up 6 wins this spring and pitched to the tune of a 2.21 ERA across 53 innings pitched with 57 strikeouts to only 16 walks.

Purpera bursted onto the scene this spring after a monster junior campaign for the Panthers.  The uncommitted senior outfielder hit .429 this season with 3 home runs, 12 doubles, 5 triples, and 45 runs batted in.

2027 Class

2027 RHP/1B Owen Galley (Sam Houston HS)

During the Broncos’ playoff run, Galley posted a 1.57 ERA over 31.2 innings, tallying 18 strikeouts and delivering steady performances on the mound.  He also came up big at the plate when it mattered most, going 4-for-7 in the three-game championship series against Live Oak. His most memorable moment came in Game 2, when he delivered a walk-off RBI single to complete the Broncos’ dramatic come-from-behind win and swing momentum back in their favor.

Guarisco battled through an injury in the early part of the spring, but he made up for it during the second-half of the season.  In 82 at-bats, he hit .390 with 3 home runs, 10 doubles, 1 triple, and 26 runs batted in.

There may not be a more projectable arm in Louisiana's 2027 class than Boudreaux.  The 6-4, 195 lbs. right-hander got the start in Game 2 of the Rebels State Championship series against E.D. White and tossed 2 innings allowing 3 hits and 0 earned runs with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts, while showing a loose & easy arm action with a fastball that sat in the upper-80s.

2028 Class

2028 SS/C Cooper Templet (St. Amant HS)

Templet enjoyed a really nice freshman campaign for the Gators.  Across 29 games, he collected 28 hits and hit at a .346 clip with 1 home run, 4 doubles, 1 triple, and drove in 20 runs.  We had the opportunity to see him against Sam Houston in the playoffs and were impressed with his swing decisions and ability to hit the ball to all fields.

The 6-3, 185 lbs. two-way prospect is the top overall prospect in our 2028 state rankings and had a monster spring for the Bulldogs.  Conley was a 1st Team All-District selection as a freshman and led Fontainebleau in every offensive and pitching category.  He hit at a .403 clip with 7 doubles and 10 RBI's and went 3-3 with a 0.84 ERA and 60 strikeouts across 41.2 innings pitched.

The growth that Oustalet showed throughout this past spring was noteable and culminated with him coming through on the biggest stage for the Broncos.  Another former Junior Future Gamer, Oustalet was stellar throughout Sam Houston's State Title run.  He finished the playoffs with a .304 average and at the State Tournament he went 4-for-8 (.500) with a double in the Broncos three games against Live Oak.  This was all while playing lock down defense at the hot corner as well.
