Uncommitted Spotlight: Israel Hernandez

The summer is in full swing, and the Prep Baseball Arizona staff has hosted several events featuring talented uncommitted prospects. So far, we’ve completed two of three Summer ID events, showcasing standout players who earned invites to the Future Games in July. We also wrapped up both Top Prospect Games, which included many high-quality players from the classes of 2026 and 2027, with more Future Games invites handed out.
Our staff has had eyes on hundreds of players this summer, including an in-depth look at those who performed at our events. As the summer continues, we will be highlighting some of the top uncommitted prospects in Arizona who made strong impressions, with our Uncommitted Spotlight Series.
We continue to highlight some of our Summer Showcase standouts with '27 MIF Israel Hernandez out of Cienega High School. Israel caught our staffs eye at the 2027 Top Prospect Games in many aspects. Hernandez had a solid round of BP and took intentful swings throughout. He added on a 7.18 60-yard time, and you can expect to see that make a jump as he gets stronger. In the field, he featured some very smooth actions, and moved well in all directions. The athelticism is present with Hernandez, and he should be a guy that coaches keep an eye on as he heads into the biggest stages of his HS career.

Body: 5-9, 166-pounds. Strong, compact frame with quick twitch and explosive hands.
Hit: RHH. Low hands open stance. Smooth load. Ball jumps. Effortless power. Quiet quick hands. Consistent barrel delivery. 68.8 mph bat speed with 18 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 90.3 mph. 351' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-83 mph.
ATH: 7.48 runner in the 60. 1.85 and 4.16 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 25.80 max vertical.

Israel Hernandez, a 2027 graduate and middle infielder from Salpointe Catholic High School, continues to impress as a high-follow prospect for the Arizona staff. During the Tucson Summer ID, Hernandez showcased his premier glove and plus footwork up the middle, reinforcing his reputation as an elite defender. Offensively, Hernandez has added noticeable size, which translated into significant gains at the plate, including the top exit velocity of the day for the 2027 class at 92.8 mph. With his continued development and strong showing, Hernandez is expected to climb prospect lists in the coming weeks.
