The summer is in full swing, and the Prep Baseball Hawaii staff has officially wrapped up the Hawaii State Games, which featured over 100 prospects from across the state. The event showcased a very talented group of uncommitted players who turned in strong performances across all facets of the game. From high-upside arms to athletic position players, there was no shortage of standout talent on display. Many of these players made a lasting impression on our staff and elevated their stock heading into the rest of the summer.

As we continue our summer coverage, we’ll begin rolling out our Uncommitted Spotlight Series, highlighting some of the top prospects from the Hawaii State Games who are still on the board and deserving of attention from college programs.

We begin highlighting our summer showcase standouts with ‘26 Hunter Yamamoto. The first baseman made a strong impression at the Hawaii State Games, posting a top exit velocity of 96.7 mph and averaging 90.5 mph. Standing at 6-foot-1, 201 pounds, Hunter already has a strong, physical build, and as he continues to add strength, it’s likely we’ll see those numbers climb even higher. He’s a prospect to keep an eye on throughout the rest of the summer and as he heads into his final year of high school.

This article will take a closer look at some of Hunter's recent metrics, scouting reports, and videos from previous events, including the Hawaii State Games.

Scouting Report

1/06/24

5-11/170...bat-first 2026 RHH OF/1B/RHP with plenty of upside...body looks great, added muscle, physicality will likely be a value...on the barrel in BP, loud BP with deep drives to pull-side, 87.7 Trackman Exit Velo with best distance to date at 15 yrs old, looking like power will be a big part of his game, on track to develop into a middle-of-the-order power bat & run producer...defense doesn't come as easy as barrels, moves good in OF with LF profile, more comfortable at 1B where he's probably best suited...2026 with arrow going up for sure, one we will keep an eye on and colleges will as well.
