Top Prospect Games - Session I: Quick Hits

On July 1st, the Prep Baseball New Jersey staff hosted the NJ Top Prospect Games - Session I at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ. 64 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball NJ staff.
Earlier today, we released the Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting some of the best statistical metrics from the day.
Today, we will be looking at the prospects that stood out to our staff within this Quick Hits story.
Position Players
C Ajani Bowrin (West Morris Mendham, 2026) a 5-foot-11, 205-pound physical prospect that had an all-around intriguing showing. The right-hander had a loud round of BP, smashing baseballs up to 97 mph, while averaging 85 mph with a max distance of 365'. The backstop also ran a 7.07 60-yard time while throwing 75 mph from the chute.
OF Connor Bresler (Delbarton, 2028) currently the second ranked prosepct in the NJ 2028 class and No. 192 nationally, Bresler continues to impress in front of our staff, during his round of BP, Bresler had a max EV of 93 mph with an average of 87 mph and a max distance of 358'. The young 6-foot-1, 181-pound prospect also ran a 6.93 60-yard time and threw 86 mph from the OF with advanced actions.
MIF Luca Catanzarite (Immaculata, 2028) is currently the No. 18 ranked prospect in the state's 2028 class. The 5-foot-7, 155-pounder made improvements in nearly every catagory since February. At the plate, Catanzarite peaked his EV at 95 mph with an average of 85 mph and a max distance of 85 mph with a max distance of 339', worked line drives throughout the round. Defensively, the MIF tossed 86 mph from shortshop.
OF Ricky Watt (Schalick, 2027) continues to be a name on the rise. On Tuesday, Watt had one of the loudest rounds of BP on the day with a max EV of 101 mph with an average of 91 mph, flashing some bat speed. Watt also showed some athleticism throughout the day, running a 7.03 60-yard dash and showed athletic actions on defense. Watt will be a name to continue to follow.
1B Brayden Moughan (Gloucester Catholic, 2028) currently ranked No. 21 in the state's 2028 class, Moughan impressed at the event, flashing EVs up to 96 mph with a max distance of 363', flashing some hand and bat speed throughout. Moughan has a athletic 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame and will continue to get stronger throughout his high school career.
OF Dante Matarese (Bishop Eustace, 2027) the 17th ranked prospect in the state's '27 class had one of the top BP rounds of the day. Matarese stands 6-foot, 187-pounds and showed EVs maxing out at 96 mph with an average of 86 mph and max distance of 341'. The left-hander worked line drives at a 55% clip throughout his round. Defensively, tossed 84 mph from the outfield.
Two-Way
RHP/OF Owen Ehrenkranz (Gill St. Bernanrd, 2028) the third ranked prospect in the NJ 2028 class got our staffs attention on the mound and at the plate. The two-way started the day impressing during BP with a max EV of 97 mph and an average of 87 mph, along with a max distance of 352'. The outfielder tossed 85 mph from his position. Then, the right-hander hopped on the mound, Ehrenkranz worked a three pitch mix, starting with a fastball at 85-86 mph with an 82% zone percentage, a slider at 73-76 mph, and a changeup with 16 in. of HM. An all-around eye opening showing for the two way.
Pitchers
RHP Logan Cleveland (Manasquan, 2027) currently ranked No. 46 in the state's 2027 class, Cleveland is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound right hander that had an intriguing bullpen. Cleveland worked his fastball 80-83 T84 mph with an average of 16.6 IVB. There is more velo left in the talk with that frame. Also, used a slider at 70-74 mph with an avg. spin rate of 2131 rpm. The right-hander should continue to gain velo and with a 6-foot-5 frame, is definitely a name to follow.
RHP Michael Fekete (Cherry Hill East, 2027) is ranked No. 3 in the state's 2027 class and No. 288 nationally, Fekete had arguably the loudest bullpen of the event, working his fastball up to 89.7 mph, sitting 88-89 mph with an avg. of 15 in. of IVB. Also used a slider at 78-82 mph with a avg. spin rate of 2100+. Fekete is a must see prospect that will continue to grow as a pitcher.
RHP Seldon Kolkebeck (Old Tappan, 2026) has a 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame and works with a easy rhythm while on the mound. The athletic frame helped Kolkebeck work his fastball at 84-88 mph at Tuesday's event with an avg. spin rate of 2430 rpm. Mixed in a slider at 70-73 mph with an avg. of 2461 rpm, and a changeup at 79-80 mph.
RHP John Luca Gallina (Ranney, 2027) impressed in his showing on the mound. The right-hander had a fastball sitting at 85-87 T88 mph for strikes, a slider at 74-76 mph with 15.3 in. of total movement, and a changeup at 79-81 mph with an avg. of 16 in. of total movement. A arm to follow this summer.
RHP Justin Kauffman (Ranney, 2027) currently ranked No. 16 in the state's 2027 class, Kauffman threw an intriguing bullpen on Tuesday, with a fastball at 84-86 T87 mph with an average of 18 in. of total movement. Threw a curveball at 74-76 mph with an avg. spin rate of 2171 rpm, and a cutter at 76-80 mph.
