From 6/19/25: “Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 46 in the state. Projectable 6-foot-8, 205-pound frame. Started on the mound. Benson shined on Friday as he struck out six batters through five and two-thirds innings to pick up the win on the mound. The left-hander operates from an uptempo delivery with a high leg with tuck while having a drop/drive approach. Clean, full arm action from a ¾ slot. Would slow down his delivery occasionally to mess with hitters’ timing. Also, dropped down to a sidearm slot against righties on multiple occasions. His fastball sat 80-83 while topping out at 84. His length and extension allows his velocity to play up. Mixed in a slider that sat 69-72 with sweeping action. Also, flashed a mid-70s changeup. Competitor on the mound.”

From 6/04/25: “Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 4 in the state and No. 114 nationally. Physical 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame with proportionate strength throughout. Cunningham had an impressive showing on both sides of the ball for the Crusaders. He started on the mound for the Crusaders in the 4A Reavis Sectional Semifinal, tossing six innings without allowing a single earned run and collecting seven strikeouts. The right-hander operated out of an explosive delivery, with a high leg kick that worked in-line down the mound. Showcased a compact arm action that played out of a higher ¾ slot. Kept hitters off-balance with his four pitch mix. His fastball was thrown around the zone at 86-89 mph, settling into 85-87 mph in the sixth. He also utilized a sharp 11/5 curveball at 71-73 mph, a slider at 74-77 mph that was thrown harder with tight horizontal action, and a fading changeup at 78-79 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter was all over the barrel, finishing 2-for-3 with two doubles to center field. Another stellar showing from Cunningham who continues to make a name for himself as one of the best two-way sophomores in the country.”

From 6/07/25: “Illinois-Chicago commit, currently ranked No. 27 in the state’s 2026 class. 5-foot-9, 187-pound frame, strength throughout. Started behind the plate and batted third. Went 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI and one run scored on the day. Confident hitter at the plate with zone awareness, creates a tough out for opposing pitchers, minimal swing-and-miss. Multiple singles on the day and a two-run homer in the game, delivered in multiple clutch situations in a 4A Sectional Final. On Thursday, barreled a hard-hit ball to right field for a lineout. Continues to impress behind the plate, quality receiver, blocks it up and works hard moving side-to-side. Arm continues to get stronger, ball plays on a line on throws to second, recorded a 1.81 and 1.93 pop time between innings. Another name that continues to show well each time our staff gets a look.”

From 5/12/25: “Wabash Valley commit, currently ranked No. 52 in the state. 6-foot-2, 203-pound frame, some present strength throughout, proportionate, still holds room to add in the future. Started at first base and hit out of the leadoff spot, finishing 1-for-3 with an RBI single to his pull-side. Extremely comfortable look in the box, confident takes with minimal chase, fluid rhythm and load, routinely on-time, athletic hands with barrel control, high-level bat that should continue to hit at the next level. Steady defender at first base, sure-handed actions with proper footwork around the bag. Impact bat at the next level, could see even more power production in the coming years but the hit tool is present.”

Started at shortstop and hit out of the two-hole, finishing the day 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. The right-handed hitter has notable present bat-speed in his swing with athletic hands, staying back on spin and seeing it deep to drive it the other way for a double. Gave plus run-times throughout the day with a 4.19 down the line and 4.63 on a turn. Shortstop profile at the next level, confident hands with rhythm and timing, fluid feet with easy range to both sides of the glove, crisp glove-to-hand and transfers, makes double-play turns look easy to all angles. Arm can play on the move and from different slots, plays with easy strength and is quick to release. High-profile middle infield prospect, extremely versatile athlete that can impact the game in multiple ways, will be a draft follow this coming year.”

From 5/14/25: “Illinois commit, currently ranked No. 18 in the state. 6-foot-5, 190-pound frame, long limbs and lean with all sorts of room to add strength in the coming years. Premium three-sport athlete (football/basketball), set the Morris all-time scoring record for basketball this past spring. Started at third base and hit out of the three-hole for Morris, didn’t have anything to show for it at the plate but impressed with his overall knowledge of the zone with no chase. Simple load and swing, gets the knob to the catcher and showed athletic hands through the zone, used the whole field, was able to stay back on one and drive it the other way for a hard lineout to right. Will have a chance to stay on the infield at the next level, high IQ, knows where to go with the ball before each play, always thinking, soft/fluid hands and transfer, arm plays with strength and life across the diamond, showed multiple angles during IO. High-ceiling prospect to dream on, especially if he’s focused solely on baseball.”

Cohn continues to impress as he went 1-for-2 at the plate on Friday. The switch-hitter operates from a wide, balanced base with a small stride. Fluid hands from a pure swing that has whip and is long through the zone. Whole field approach. Laid down a bunt in his final at-bat and beat out the throw with 3.81 time down the line out of the right-handers box. His above-average speed also shows on defense as he covers plenty of ground in center. Displayed his strong arm (88 OF velo) during I/O.”

The left-handed hitter consistently takes quality at-bats in front of our staff and it was much of the same in this look, giving of a calm presence with premium bat-to-ball and zone awareness, present bat-strength with power and the ability to work to the gaps consistently, high-level hit tool that has proven to handle velocity and spin.
