Quick Hits: 2025 Louisiana Top Prospect Games (2027 & 2028 Class)
June 30, 2025
Lafayette, LA - On Tuesday, June 24 2025, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, to host the lone invite-only event of the summer, which featured over 100 uncommitted prospects from the state's 2026-2028 classes. Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Vald Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion. Pitchers finished the day off by throwing live to hitters during gameplay with Trackman Baseball running to receive all of their data and metrics. Below, we take a look at some of the top performers from Tuesday's event in the 2027 & 2028 class.

TOP PERFORMERS (2027 CLASS)
Mason Rogillio C / West Feliciana, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 22 / POS: 5
6-2, 215-pound physical and imposing frame. The West Feliciana product had by far the loudest round of batting practice at last Tuesday's event. Using a modified leg lift, Rogillio uncoils his lower-half and drops a heavy barrel out front to drive the ball to all fields with exit velocities up to 104 mph, which was an event best. He average 97.2 mph off the bat, which might be the highest average exit velocity that we've ever seen at one of our events.

Kaleb Guarisco 1B / OF / Hahnville, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 2
We've been a fan of Guarisco for quite some time now and he only further proved on Tuesday why we believe he's one of the top hitter's in the state's 2027 class. It's a simple set-up in the box with good rhythm in his hands and minimal pre-pitch movements. He keeps a compact turn and gets the bat head on-plane with each pitch that he seems. Guarisco drove the ball from gap-to-gap during batting practice with a max exit velocity of 97.7 mph. His in-game at-bats were equally as impressive, as he showed really good strike zone discipline and never chased out of the zone.

Isaac Boudreaux RHP / Teurlings Catholic, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 2
6-4, 195-pounds frame with projection still left. The Teurlings Catholic product may just have the highest upside of any arm in the state's 2027 class. Working off the first base side of the rubber and exclusively from the stretch, Boudreaux strides slightly closed and hides the ball well from opposing hitters. His arm action is loose and he creates easy velocity on his 86-90 mph fastball, which he located to all quadrants and wasn't afraid to pitch on the inner-half. He played around with a 83-85 mph cutter that at times had true cutter shape and other times was more of a slider. His low-80s changeup was a solid third offering that he had confidence in throwing to both RHH's and LHH's.

Nathan Cervantes C / Northwood, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 2
The former Jr. Future Gamer will be heading back to LakePoint at the end of next month after a really solid showing at last Tuesday's Top Prospect Games. Cervantes looked as good as we've seen him behind the dish and recorded the top positional velocity from the crouch at 82 mph with sub-2.00 pop times on the bag. A switch-hitter, he uses loose wrists and strong hands to whip the bat head through the zone, which produced exit velocities up to 101.9 mph.
|
Myles Collins C / Opelousas Catholic, LA / 2027Physical 6-3, 205-pounds frame. Collins was part of a what was a talented catching group at last Tuesday's event and he showed why we have him rated as the state's top ranked backstop in the '27 class. He did an excellent job of receiving pitches, especially the low pitch by sticking it out front with a strong glove hand. The Opelousas Catholic product also showed a good arm from the crouch up to 81 mph and threw out a basestealer at second in Game 1. Collins showed strength to the pull-side during batting practice with a max exit velocity of 95.3 mph and picked up a hit in-game as well.

Jake Wooten LHP / Parkview Baptist, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 25 / POS: 2
5-10, 175-pounds frame. The Parkview Baptist product provides a unique look from the left side thanks to good extension and a lower release height of 4'5". He works through a slower build-up in his delivery and hides the ball well before releasing from a 3/4 slot. Wooten drove his 84-86 mph fastball to the glove-side well and saw swings & misses on the pitch up in the zone. His low-mid 70s slider showed marked improvements from our last look with spin rates near 2,900 RPM's and sweep across the zone. Add in a 76-78 mph changeup with nearly 18" of horizontal movement and Wooten's got a bonafide three-pitch mix.

Dekohta Jones OF / Live Oak, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 1
6-0, 185-pound athletic frame with present physicality as well. The Live Oak product is one of the better all-around athlete's in the state's '27 class and showed that last Tuesday. He got his day started off by blazing a 6.62 laser-timed 60 and then showed a good arm from the outfield up to 88 mph. In game, he moved gracefully in the outfield and showed that he can cover a lot of ground. At the plate, he works from an upright and balanced stance. His path to contact is flat and he stays level through extension while maintaining balance from start to finish. Jones produced hard line drive contact from gap-to-gap with a max exit velocity of 99.3 mph.

TOP PERFORMERS (2028 CLASS)
Reis Wascom RHP / OF / Catholic, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 6
It was just an all-around stellar day for the former Jr. Future Gamer. Wascom picked up not one, not two, but three hits in the night cap last Tuesday and has certainly made noteable and obviously positive changes to his swing. On the mound, he provided one of the more intriguing looks on the day, especially in the 2028 class. Using a compact & clean arm stroke, Wascom pummeled 80-83 mph fastballs to both sides of the plate, but his 71-73 mph slider was the real difference maker and may have been the best secondary pitch on the day. His slider showed sharp/late sweep down & across the zone with spin rates up to 2,739 RPM's. We're certainly excited that we'll get to see the Catholic BR product at our Super Sophomore Games in August at Texas A&M University.

Grayson "Pat" Conner RHP / Sam Houston High School, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 21 / POS: 5
6-5, 200-pound projectable frame with long limbs. If there was an arm to really dream on last Tuesday, it had to have been Conner. The Sam Houston product closed out Game 2 and made a statement along the way. He used a more old school delivery by bringing his glove & hand over his head and back down, before a drop & drive move down the slope. Conner used a lightning quick arm that produced a 88-92 mph fastball with serious life through the zone and spin rates consistently north of 2,500 RPM's. His control was sporadic at times, but it was electric when his body was synced up with his fingertips on top and behind the baseball.

Cooper Templet 2B / C / St. Amant, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 1
The former Jr. Future Gamer had a stellar freshman season for the Gators and it was easy to see why on Tuesday. Templet didn't have the greatest round of batting practice earlier in the day on Tuesday, but he didn't let that phase him in gameplay, which is what good hitter's do. In Game 3, he connected for two barrels with one being a line out right at the centerfielder and the other a two-strike double that one hopped the wall in right field. He has such a simple swing from the left-side with zero head movement, which allows him to be extremely accurate with the barrel. On top of that, Templet also showed a pretty good run tool earlier in the day, as he posted a 6.85 laser-timed 60.
