St. Louis Summer ID: Quick Hits

On June 24th, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff hosted the St. Louis Summer ID at St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. 35 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Illinois staff.

This morning, we released the Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting some of the best statistical metrics from the day.

Today, we will be looking at the prospects that stood out to our staff within this Quick Hits story.


QUICK HITS

CIF Chase Blue (Sullivan, 2026) is a physical 5-foot-11, 210-pound third baseman who put together the loudest round as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in max exit velocity (100 mph), average exit velocity (96.5 mph), and max distance (373 ft) while also being second in hard hit percentage with 87%. Blue showed impressive bat speed with 82.1 mph max while also having an average hand speed of 22.3. Blue routinely elevated hard contact to the pull-side with length and leverage in the swing and repeated at an above-average clip.  Defensively, he profiles at a corner infield spot and also ran a 7.23 60. 

INF Mitchell Garner is yet another Sullivan uncommitted 2026 worth mentioning from the event. Like Blue, Sullivan is also a physical right-handed hitter who made a statement with his bat strength. Both Sullivan bats came in at No. 1 and No. 2 in regards to average exit velocity and max distance, with Garner coming in second in both categories. Garner, a first baseman listed at 6-foot-3, 225-pounds averaged 96.4 mph off the bat (99.4 mph max) with a 100% hard hit percentage. Garner also had a max distance of 364 feet, max hand speed of 27.2 mph (average of 22.2 mph), average bat speed of 72.5 mph with a max of 76.8 mph.

C Charlie Basta (St. John Vianney, 2026) is an athletic 6-foot-2, 185-pound catcher that impressed in multiple facets of the showcase. Basta ran a 6.77 60, which was the best of the event, as well as having the second highest vertical jump with 23.6 inches. At the plate, the left-handed hitter showed an easy and fluid swing, with strong hands, a gap-to-gap approach while flashing pull-side power.  He posted a max exit velocity of 96 mph (third best of the event) along with a max distance of 347 feet. Defensively, he showed clean actions, a quick glove-to-hand transfer, and a 1.98 pop time on his best bullet down to second best. An uncommitted name to follow in Missouri.

C Dominic Pandolfo (Fort Zumwalt East, 2027) was a standout this past winter and continued to trend in the right direction in our most recent look. Pandolfo has trimmed his 60 time down to a 7.29 (was a 7.53 in February) while also topping at 80 mph from the crouch which is up from 78 mph. The 6-foot, 205-pound right-handed hitter T93.4 mph during his round of BP with a max distance of 362 feet (third best of the event). Pandolfo led the event with a 22.3 mph average hand speed while flashing strong hands, pull-side power and flat path during his round. Behind the plate registered 1.87-1.94 pop times which led the event. 

OF Roman Kern (Francis Howell Central, 2026) is an uncommitted name to know from Tuesday’s event. Standing in a 5-foot-9, 166-pound frame with strength, Kern had a strong round of batting practice. A right-handed hitter, he showed a simple approach at the plate with intentful bat speed through the zone. His bat speed numbers were some of the top of the event, averaging 72.6 mph and peaking at 78.1 mph, both the second highest at the event. His max exit velocity was 95 mph (avg. 89.5 mph), while barreling his furthest hit ball 343 feet, per Trackman. Defensively, Kern showed some easy actions in the outfield and a clean arm path that produced an 81 mph outfield velocity on his throws to home. His athleticism showed well during his 60-yard dash, where he ran a 6.97.

INF Dan Lang (St. John Vianney, 2029) already fills out the uniform at 6-foot, 170-pounds, despite only going into his freshman year. Lang, a right-handed hitter stayed on the barrel consistently throughout the round (average 83.2 mph) while peaking at 87.2 mph, while sending his furthest hit ball 317 feet. On the left-side of the infield he showed quality actions while maintaining body control on the move paired with an above-average arm that topped at 81 mph.

INF/RHP Ben Delic (Oakville, 2029) showed some impressive traits at the plate and on the mound. Athletic 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame with room to add strength. At the plate, Delic had an average exit velocity of 81.5 mph (90.6 mph max) while having an average distance of 271 feet (325 feet max). His fastball sat 77.3-79.3 mph while topping out at 79.9 mph. The spin rate averaged 2130 RPM (2216 RPM max) while having an average induced vertical break of 16.5 inches (20.1 inches max) and 11.8 inches of horizontal movement (13.8 inches max). Delic’s changeup sat 71.5-74.4 mph with an average horizontal movement of 15.7 inches (T16 inches) while having an average spin rate of 1494 RPM.

OF/RHP Brady Dohrman (St. John Vianney, 2029) had quite the showcase on Tuesday while impressing at the plate and on the mound. Athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame with room to add strength. At the plate, Dohrman had an average exit velocity of 82.5 mph (89.9 mph max) with an average distance of 263 feet (332 feet max). On the mound, his fastball sat 76-79 mph while topping out at 80.4 mph with an average spin rate of 2076 RPM. His changeup sat 68.7-70.5 mph with an average of 11.7 inches of horizontal movement (14.3 inches max). He also showed a curveball that sat 62.6-63.7 mph with an average of -9.9 inches of horizontal movement and -5.6 inches of induced vertical break.

RHP Haverly Cox (Homeschool, 2026) was ultra-impressive on Tuesday as he showed off many plus pitches. Athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame with room to add strength. His fastball sat 92.7-93.8 mph while topping out at 94 mph while having an average spin rate of 2314 (2411 max). His curveball showed out-pitch potential as it sat 78.1-80.3 mph with an average spin rate of 3148 RPM (3251 max). The pitch showed a ton of depth as it averaged -16.7 inches of horizontal movement and -14.7 inches of induced vertical break. Cox also showed a cutter that sat 83.2-86.5 mph with an average spin rate of 2874, while averaging -6.5 inches of horizontal movement (-13.8 inches max) and -2.9 inches of induced vertical break (1.3 inches max). Cox left the event as a must-know uncommitted arm in Missouri.

RHP/C Fin Almanza Parra (Wright City, 2029) showed advanced feel for multiple pitches on Tuesday. Standing in a 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with room to add strength. His fastball sat 77.8-79.9 mph while topping out at 80.3 mph with an average spin rate of 2271 RPM (2339 RPM max). The pitch had an average induced vertical break of 20.7 inches (21.7 inches max) and 7 inches of horizontal movement. His curveball sat 66.9-68.7 mph with an average spin rate of 2270 RPM and averaging -11.3 inches of horizontal movement. He also showed a changeup that sat 74.3-75.4 mph with an average spin rate of 1939 RPM. During his round of BP, the left-handed hitter posted a max exit velocity of 92 mph, and a max batted distance of 347 feet, per Trackman.
