On Wednesday, June 18th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Cornerstone Christian School in San Antonio, TX, to host the San Antonio Summer ID, an open event for the class of 2026-2028.

More than 30 players made their way to Cornerstone Christian and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

Today, we take a look at the scouting reports on every player in attendance as well as rank the top 5 overall prospects from the event.

TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS

1. Hector Cadena, United (TX), 2027
Positional Profile: 3B/SS RHH/INF with good build/frame. Explosive on baseball field, plus/WAA runner depending on grade scale. Developing middle infielder, shows actions at times. Raw arm strength present. Would like to see track down balls in CF, could have well above avg range in OF if he can track baseball. Hits balls hard at plate. Opportunity to improve consistency of hard contact with approach adjustments. Shows tools in workout, prospect.
Body: 5-10, 205 pounds. Good build. Strong upper and lower half. Good physical projection.
Hit: RHH. Knee lift stride, lands in good position to hit. Hits into firm front side with good posture. Back foot gets stuck, work to firm getting back foot rotated, lower 1/2 works well when back foot turns on time. Rolls onto side of stride foot, would like to see firming of stride foot staying into ground. Hit from ground up. Barrel/hands in good launch position. Bat speed/bat strength present. Takes solid path to zone, hits balls hard. mph bat speed with g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 109 mph max exit velocity (98.4 avg.); 382-foot max batted distance. Good bat/power combo in future. Explosive in box, hits balls hard when everything on time. Work to firm use of lower 1/2. Interesting bat/power combo in future.
Arm: RH. INF - 89.00 mph. Arm works well, shows carry to throws. Shows ability to throw from all angles.
Defense: Feet work well getting body to baseball. Nice job of breaking down to field. Fields baseball deep, hinge at hips to get hands out front. Overall, nice actions.
Athletic Testing: 6.59 runner in the 60-yard dash; 25.60-inch max vertical jump. Fast start. Premium speed. Plus runner.
