Yellowhammer State Games Most Valuable Player & Pitcher Announced
June 25, 2025
ALBERTVILLE, AL – The 2025 Yellowhammer State Games took place on Tuesday, June 17th and Wednesday, June 18th at Sand Mountain Park in Albertville, AL. This invite-only event brought together nearly 200 of the top high school prospects in Alabama from the 2026-2030 graduating classes. Over the course of two days, players participated in an extended pro-style workout featuring batting practice tracked by Trackman, 60-yard dash testing using VALD Performance, and more. Pitchers had the opportunity to compete in simulated innings during gameplay, capturing key metrics such as velocity, spin rate, and movement data via Trackman.
A few statistical breakdowns from the premier event of the summer:
- 38 60-yard dashes under 7.00
- 43 top EVs over 97.0 mph
- 28 top FB velocities 85.0 mph or higher
- 25 top INF velocities 85 mph or higher
- 16 top OF velocities 85 mph or higher
- 18 top C velocities 75 mph or higher

Both winners recieve a $50 Dicks Sporting Goods gift card, a new pair of Oakley sunglasses, and a Mizuno duffle bag with Prep Baseball embroidery. Congratulations to both players for taking home the awards!
Manning Amorde Named Yellowhammer State Games MV-Player
Manning Amorde took home Most Valuable Player honors at the 2025 Yellowhammer State Games after an all-around standout showing over the two-day event. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound rising junior from UMS-Wright Prep showcased his strength and advanced offensive tools throughout, running a 7.06 60-yard dash and delivering consistent barrels during batting practice with a peak exit velocity of 95.9 mph. He carried that momentum into gameplay, going 4-for-5 with two singles, two home runs, and three RBIs facing some of the state's top competition to solidify himself as the fairly easy choice to take home the honors.

Garrett Reid Named Yellowhammer State Games MV-Pitcher
Garrett Reid earned Most Valuable Pitcher honors at the 2025 Yellowhammer State Games after a dominant performance on the mound that highlighted his quality three-pitch mix. The uncommitted right-hander in the 2026 class turned heads with swing-and-miss stuff across the board, sitting 84-86 mph and touching 86.5 mph with heavy arm-side run and sink on the fastball. He paired it with a sharp slider at 72-75 mph that generated multiple whiffs, spinning up to an impressive 2650 RPM. Reid was nearly untouchable during his outing, tossing 3 hitless innings with no runs, no walks, and 7 strikeouts to cap off a statement performance.
