South Suburban Summer ID: Quick Hits

On June 17th, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff hosted the South Suburban Summer ID at Ozinga Field in Crestwood, Ill. 21 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Illinois staff.

Today, we will be looking at the prospects that stood out to our staff within this Quick Hits story.


Position Players

OF Adam Kozak (Lockport, 2026) has a 5-foot-10, 144-pound athletic frame, with upside in all aspects of his game. Kozak had arguably the most impressive showing at the event, starting the day running an event best 6.57 60-yard dash. The left-hander had a lound round of BP, sending a ball over the wall to the opposite field to start his round, then continued the hard contact throughout the round, reaching a max EV of 99 mph with an average of 89 mph. Defensively, flashed smooth athletic actions and tossed 83 mph from the outfield. Kozak is a name to keep an eye on this summer. 

OF Jenner Smith (Hersey, 2028) is a young, 6-foot-2, 171-pound, high-waisted, prospect that broke out as a position player at the event. Smith has previously impressed on the mound in front of our staff, but on Tuesday Jenner flashed upside all ovee the field as a position player. The outfielder ran a 6.95 60-yard time and tossed 82 mph from the outfield with athleticism and some whippy arm action. During BP, Jenner flashed some pullside power and barrel control, with a peak EV of 93 mph, and a max distance of 346', Jenner will be a name to follow offensively, and on the mound throughout his high school career.

MIF Alec Gilsinn (Marmion Academy, 2027) is an intriguing, 6-foot, 165-pound prospect that broke out on his Prep Baseball showcase debut. Gilsinn started the day running a 6.89 60 and continued his sucess in BP. The right-handed hitter was on the barrel throughout his round and showed barrel control, reached EVs up to 93 mph. On the defensive side, Gilsinn had arguably the best round, the defense is smooth, easy, and athletic, showing soft hands, and range to both sides. Tossed 81 mph from shortstop. 

OF Emmitt Senger (Marist, 2026) has a 5-foot-10, 187-pound, compact frame that had a impressive round of BP. Sengers swing is easy, with pop to center and the pullside, throughout the round the ball was flying off the bat, working line drives, reaching EVs up to 96 mph and a max distance of 353'. In the beginning of the day, Senger ran a 7.18 60. 

OF Michael Stulga (St. Laurence. 2028) stands 6-foot-1, 187-pounds and swung it well during the event. Stulga is a right-hander with the ability to drive the ball to all fields showed strength at impact, reaching a max EV of 93 mph. The outfielder also ran a 6.97 60-yard time in the beginning of the event. 

Pitchers

RHP Noah Sloane (Lincoln-Way Central, 2026) is an athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound arm that came away a winner from the event. Sloane worked a three with mix, with a fastball sitting 82-84 mph with an average IVB of 14.8 inches, a curveball sitting 69-72 with sharp bite for strikes at 80%, and a changeup at 71-74 mph with 16.8 inches of HM.
