The summer is in full swing, and the Prep Baseball Hawaii staff has officially wrapped up the Hawaii State Games, which featured over 100 players from across the state. The event brought together a strong group of uncommitted talent who showed well across all areas of the game. From the workout to live gameplay, there was no shortage of standout performances, and several players made a strong impression as they head into the rest of the summer.

As we continue our coverage, we’re kicking off our Uncommitted Spotlight Series—where we’ll take a closer look at some of the top performers from the event. With updated stats, data, and video now added to player profiles, these prospects have taken another step forward in tracking their progress and getting their game out there. This series will highlight what they showed at the event and why they stood out to our staff.

We begin highlighting our summer showcase standouts with ‘27 Ezra Ugale. At the Hawaii State Games, Ezra showed well across multiple areas of his game. He ran a 7.12 60-yard dash, showing flashes of above-average speed, and posted a 96 mph exit velocity. With continued physical development, those numbers should only keep climbing. His biggest standout tool was the arm. He recorded a 94 mph infield velocity and was solid on the mound. He sat 85–87 mph, topping at 88.1, with some occasional run and sink on the fastball. He mixed in a curveball at 70 mph that lived in the zone and disrupted timing, but the changeup was the difference-maker. He showed no issues commanding it, and it came with a strong movement profile—21 inches of horizontal movement and 2.9 inches of IVB—giving it big ASR and depth. Ezra is a player coaches should keep an eye on, both on the mound and in the field, as his recruiting process is expected to pick up quickly this September.

This article will take a closer look at some of Ugale's recent metrics, scouting reports, and videos from previous events, including the Hawaii State Games.
