Portland & North Portland Summer ID - Quick Hits
June 21, 2025
Recently, Prep Baseball PNW hosted a pair of Summer ID events at Lake Oswego High School and at the University of Portland - Joe Etzel Field. Prep Baseball scouts evaluated high school athletes in the 2026-2029 graduating classes, with several strong showings throughout the events.
Summer ID events serve as an important tool for both Prep Baseball scouts and college recruiters, who will subsequently create lists of prospects to follow as they plan their remaining summer coverage. We often tend to see prospects' best showings at Summer ID events, as players are fresh off playing for their respective high schools and are in the routine that consistently playing in-game offers. Standout performances can lend invites to some of the summer's top events, including the 2025 Pacific Northwest State Games.
Today, Prep Baseball releases our Quick Hits, detailing scouting notes on standout players from the events. Players are listed alphabetically by last name. For all other post-event content, click here.
Portland Summer ID (6.8.25)
‘26 OF/RHP Cooper Berta (Lakeridge)
Strongly built athlete put together a well-rounded showing and exuded a collection of tools that profile well to the OF long-term. Solid runner at 7.12 with short distance burst out of the gate. Strong, accurate arm with carry from the OF up to 82 mph. At the plate, took controlled, balanced swings with consistent loft and ball flight to his pull-side. Gap to gap power with strength at contact from the hands/wrists. Peak EV up to 93.6 while holding an average of 87.8. Showed some additional skills on the mound with a FB/CB combination that plays well in the zone. FB 79-81 with CB at 68-70 and quality spin averaging 2300 rpm.
‘26 C David Haskins (Aloha)
Athletic catcher with defensive aptitude and emerging power. Threw very well in the defensive portion of the event with arm strength up to 74 mph and a best pop of 2.06. Ball comes out true and carries well to the bag. Easy exchange out of crouch into throwing motion. At the plate, uses a slower, controlled forward move and stays quiet throughout. Easy barrel action into the zone. Gets on plane early and stays level, allowing him to spray flush contact to all parts of the field. Peak EV up to 94.6
‘26 OF/P Rylan Metz (Lakeridge)
One of the more tooled up performances we’ve seen at a workout recently. 6’1. 180 lb athlete with a wide upper half and lean strength throughout. Ran a 6.76 in the 60 and got up to 20.4 mph peak speed. Outfield profile with arm strength at 80 mph from a tight, short arm slot. Offensively was up to 101.5 mph with his exit velocity and showed some exceptional power to his pull-side. Short, direct bath to the ball with big time swing metrics and rotational power. Also worked in a 3 pitch mix on the mound with a FB/SL/CH combination that can fill up the zone. High upside athlete to keep an eye on.
‘26 3B/P Camden Jones (Skyview, WA)
Physically built at 5’11, 210 lbs with present strength in both upper and lower half. Led the way on the mound at this event with a FB up to 87 mph and ranging 86.8 - 85.6. Holds velocity well thanks to his size/strength and the frame allows the arm to work quick and easily. Shorter, more compact arm action with quickness out front thru his ¾ slot release. Shapes 2 different breaking balls with his CB/SL and also mixes in a heavy fading CH. As a position player, runs very well for his size and has a plus arm from 3B up to 86 mph. Offensively showed a heavy barrel during BP with EV up to 96.6 mph and impressive bat speed metrics.
‘27 C Ramsey Prentice (Ida B Wells)
Lean, twitchy athlete who showed off impressive development on our most recent look. Posted a 6.77 in the 60 with a great 3.80 in the 30 yard split. Up to 20.7 mph sprint speed. Hits from a balanced, upright stance on the left side with quick hands and a fluid swing path. Natural lefty loft in the barrel with a high finish. Defensively presents a low, compact target and gets out of the crouch easily with his athleticism and actions. Tight, short arm action into a ¾ release. Stays behind the throw well. 73 mph presently from C with a best 2.08 pop. Speedy LH bat looks poised for a productive summer.

Quick Hits
'28 INF/RHP Dalton Abbott (Timberline)
Compact-framed freshman led the event with a 93.6 MPH peak exit velocity. Drove the ball on a line consistently from the right side. Strong, balanced setup with flatter path and quick two-handed finish. Showcased positional versatility with 77 MPH throws both from the infield and outfield. Also flashed a four pitch mix on the mound, showing some feel for spin with two distinct breakers and running the FB up to 80 MPH. Well-rounded performance.
'27 INF/RHP Roy Bannister (Corvallis)
Athleticism shined from 5'10 athlete, running a 6.84 60-yard dash time to kick off his event. Bannister followed this up with a sound defensive showing up the middle, with a quick transfer and easy arm strength with throws up to 83 MPH. Can shoot the gaps at the plate when on time, with a peak exit velocity of 93.3 MPH. Also led the event with a FB up to 82.6 MPH on the mound, with lower spin rates on all three offerings suggesting more velo could still be in the tank. Over-top release point with looser gloveside follow. Impressive showing.

'28 C/RHP Graham Bayless (Lakeridge)
Really strong look from the catcher position, with sound feet and a quick transfer to throw with present arm strength. Underclassman already has throws up to 75 MPH from behind the dish with a best pop time of 1.96 seconds. Used the whole field in BP rounds, peaking at 90.5 MPH and averaging an 82.3 MPH exit velocity. Also had a FB up to 80 MPH from the right side on the mound, killing spin well on his CH as his best secondary pitch.

Mature defensive look with quick catch-and-throw. 75 MPH throws from the C position with a best pop time of 1.96 seconds. Can drive the ball to all fields at the plate with flatter path through the zone pic.twitter.com/JTV1yAyruf
'28 INF Micah Burrell (Ida B. Wells)
Intruiging underclassman in 6'0, 160 pound frame. Keeps weight stacked on backside at the dish with some classic LH loft present in his swing. Controlled barrel path through the zone with whippy two-handed finish. Drove the ball in the air consistently with a peak exit velocity of 93 MPH and a max batted ball distance of 346 feet. Ran a 7.17 second 60-yard dash time. Longer levered athlete with 75 MPH throws from the infield.
'28 RHP/OF Quincy Jensen (Roosevelt)
Upside shown on both sides of the ball, particularly on the mound. FB sat 79-81 MPH from an easy delivery with some rawness present. Simple wind and fire with high 3/4 slot release and upright follow through. Quiet stance from the right side at the plate, with minimal wasted movement and sudden explosion through the zone. Maintains tight levers with strong two-handed finish. Max batted ball distance of 325 feet. 7.10 runner.
'27 INF/RHP Makoa Kim (Jesuit)
Compact, wiry-framed athlete. Pull-oriented approach from the left side yielded some nice results in BP rounds, with a 91.9 MPH peak exit velocity and a max batted ball distance of 342 feet. Higher hands in setup with direct path to contact. 7.33 second 60-yard dash time. Showed a four-pitch mix on the mound, with some natural run on his FB/CH coming from a 3/4 slot release.
'28 RHP/INF Colin Weatherford (Grant)
Projectable 6'2, 178 pound freshman with wider shoulders. Real upside on the mound, currently peaking at 80 MPH with the FB and filling up the bottom of the strike zone with three offspeed pitches. Lower spin rates with clean mechanics could yield jumps in stuff. Peaked with a 90.2 MPH exit velocity and 335 foot max batted ball distance at the dish. Toe-tap load from right side of the plate with loose wrists and a slight uphill path through the zone.
