Sheffer impressed in a pair of Prep Baseball California events (2024 Ventura County Uncommitted Game and 2025 Central California Preseason All State) and came into his FR. campaign with a solid pedigree of potential. Early in the spring he was seeing more defensive replacement reps and getting at bats on the JV level, but in the past three weeks the dynamic defender earned his way into the starting lineup and appears like he should be there consistently this spring and certainly for the next few years at Oaks Christian. Sheffer opened the game at 3B before moving over to 2B after an injury to Oaks Christian’s 2B and then back to 3B later in the game, while his long term profile is going to be at SS (once Quentin Young graduates this spring) the versatility Sheffer shows defensively speaks to advanced feel to play baseball. The wiry athletic built Sheffer made a trio of nice plays across his time at both 3B/2B including showing range laterally at both spots and a strong present arm which projects to continue adding strength in the future. While the defensive profile is the present carrying tool for Sheffer he is starting to tap into a sound offensive profile more consistently on the varsity level and projects to be at least a strong offensive player, but does flash some top of the order potential. After working a pair of deep counts in his first two at bats that resulted in strikeouts the RH hitter ambushed an offering on the inner half of the plate to lace a double down the LF which jumped off the bat with carry and as he adds strength to his present frame showed his pull side HR potential in the future. With a strong present foundation to an overall profile that has a high ceiling the future for Ryan Sheffer appears bright.
