At 5-foot-7 and 165 pounds, his compact, athletic frame delivers explosive performance with room for added strength. In the infield, Wellens recorded a top velocity of 82 mph, displaying a quick, accurate arm and fluid glove work that suits the demands of shortstop or second base. His ability to cover ground laterally stood out, with quick first steps and excellent range making him a dynamic defender. During gameplay, Wellens ripped a single to the gap, highlighting his ability to barrel pitches with authority and drive the ball to all fields. His 60-yard dash time of 6.83 seconds reflects elite speed, enhancing his defensive range and base-running impact. His strong wrists suggest potential for further power development.
