One of my favorite baseball phrases is “hitters hit” and for two years now Crang has simply hit at a high quality level over multiple in-game looks and at the 2025 Central California Preseason All State. In this live look the thing that stood out the most for me with Crang was his ability to adjust to the pitchers during the course of the game (which was an improvement from my look at him during MLK weekend 2025). After getting caught out front and capping a 3-U groundout during his first at bat against spin Crang made the adjustment to keep his hands back at launch while allowing the ball to travel deeper into the zone (staying more through the middle of the field versus looking to do damage to the pull side) and resulted in a trio of well struck baseballs. On a hanging breaking ball Crang crushed a deep foul HR distance drive through the wind blowing in from LF before staying on outer half FB up the middle for an RBI and then in his final at bat repeated the process sting another outer half FB up the middle for another RBI. The apparent conscious adjustment to produce against how he was being pitched was an improvement to the offensive profile for Crang showing maturity in his offensive approach to go with his strong present swing. Another upward move for Crang came in his athleticism as he is noticeably running better down the line with a more athletic frame including clocking a 4.32 home to 1B time in game. Crang continues to trend in the right direction as a college recruit for the 2026 class.

For over a year now I’ve been in on the offensive ability for Crang from the first two looks at him in 2024 High School season and beyond the RH hitting corner INF defender has consistently hit the ball hard with solid results. On the 2025 season Crang has jumped out to an impressive start entering the game with a .432/.500/.622 slash line over 10 games with four doubles and a homer and the numbers went up with another two hit performance while driving in a run during this game. But, for me the bigger takeaway was some polish to his approach at the plate between an MLK weekend look and this game. Over MLK Crang who is an aggressive hitter who is consistently in swing mode did get exposed a bit to quality spin which resulted in chase out of the zone low. The arm for Dos Pueblos was pitching heavily off of both a solid SLD/quality CB while mixing in a solid present FB. Crang chased an early low breaking ball in his first at bat, but after that he showed discipline to leave spin alone unless it was up in the zone (singled to RF on an elevated breaking ball) and jumped on a FB in the zone for another hit. The swing has always worked for me, but seeing some growth to his offensive process has me intrigued to see the next steps for what is already one of the stronger offensive pieces in the 2026 class on the Central Coast of California.

Uses lower 1/2 effectively with good hip turn and ability to block solidly on front leg to maintain direction with tempo in the operation. Arm Action: RH. FB: T87, 84-86 mph. Solid present FB shape with some ride to it while displaying solid spin rates giving him the ability to elevate in the zone T2156, 2031 average rpm. CB: 75-76 mph. Plays well off his FB with a downward breaking shape showing depth and 2 plane action with glove side bite. Good spin rate and will get whiff/chase from RHH and LHH T2450, 2385 average rpm. Body: 6-0, 199-pounds. Strongly built athletic frame with room to add Hit: RHH. Wider base with feet and slight bend of knees and hip hinge. Hands are set above ear height at rear shoulder depth with high back elbow. Uses slight weight shift into back leg with toe tap on front foot into short stride to reach launch position. Hands lower into slot. Controlled load. Aggressive with his hips and hands into the zone and rear shoulder drives through contact. Hands are direct to the ball with leverage through the zone with his barrel. Shows present bat speed with quickness in the turn. 71.7 mph bat speed with 17 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 98 max exit velocity, averaged 93.6 mph. 362' max distance. Elevates the ball to middle/pull side with consistentcy and carry showing HR power profile with regular hard contact and interesting top end EV. Can grow into future oppo power, as well. Arm: RH. INF-82 mph. Some length to arm path out of glove, but shows quickness in arm stroke with carry to his throws and feel for accuracy. Profiles at 3B. Defense: Feet and hands are sound with good foundation and plays his angles well with body control. Can get downhill and throw from multiple slots while playing 1-handed. Solid defensive profile. ATH: 7.32 runner in the 60. Drives low off the line with quick short strides he maintains throughout

Crang made the trip down from the Central Coast to the High Desert and showed that his talented 2-way profile travels very well. The top offensive performer as a Soph. at San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara Crang opened the day by putting together a loud performance during the Showcase Workout. Crang more than looks capable of staying at the hot corner with the athletic ability to handle 2B, as well including a 7.3 60 and 82 MPH INF arm velocity. But, the RH hitter showed conistent loud impact off the bat during BP from an aggressive, but balanced RH swing. Posting a Max EV at 97.9 MPH with an Avg EV of 93.6 MPH and a Max Distance of 360' on a drive to LCF. The BP performance translated into game as he turned on a hard line drive to LF for a hit off Newhouse (the lone hit Newhouse gave up) on an upper 80's FB. Yet, as good as what Crang did as a position player he was able to match it with his outing on the mound. Flashing a 84-87 MPH FB that is backed up by a 81-82 MPH CHG and 75-76 MPH curveball which all 3 he can throw for strikes to put together a strong showing on the bump.
