INF/RHP Mason Almazan (Providence Catholic, 2028) had arguably the top all-around showing of the event. Alamazan is listed with an athletic 5-foot-9, 153-pound frame with room to add strength. At the plate, the right-handed batter has a balanced setup with a smooth load and stride. He has loose, athletic hands with a long uphill bat path while elevating hard contact. He had an average exit velocity of 82.6 mph (91.3 mph max EV) while having a max batted ball distance of 350 feet. Defensively, the infielder played with natural feel for the position with soft hands while posting an infield velocity of 84 mph. On the mound, the right-hander operated with a simple, controlled delivery while having a full, loose arm action from a ¾ slot. His fastball sat 80.7-82.8 mph while topping out at 83.4 mph. Almazan showed a curveball that sat 67.5-70.6 mph with downer action and depth. He rounded out his pitch-mix with a changeup that sat 74.1-76.8 mph with fading action.

INF/RHP Mason Almazan (Providence Catholic, 2028) has made some strides in his overall game since we last saw him at our Preseason All-State: Underclass back in February. Presenting an athletic 5-foot-9, 144-pound frame, Almazan had one of the more polished rounds of batting practice for the event. He reached a max exit velocity of 90.4 mph (avg. 82.1 mph) while also posting a max batted ball distance of 329 feet. Almazan also hopped on the mound during the event. His fastball sat 79-82 mph with a max spin rate of 2322 RPM and having a max IVB of 14.8 inches. His changeup sat 73-75 with 94% spin efficiency. His curveball sat 69-72 mph with a max IBV of -5.1 inches and a max HM of -6.6 inches, showcasing the depth that his breaking ball offers.

RHP Mason Almazan (Providence Catholic, 2028) showed feel to pitch throughout his three-pitch mix. His fastball was clean out of the hand with run, sitting 81-82 mph. He then went to a 68-70 mph curveball that showed short, vertical action, playing at the bottom of the zone for a 60% strike percentage. Almazan would round out his mix with a 75-76 mph changeup, playing with sink.

Almazan, with an athletic 5-foot-7, 135-pound frame, had an all-around game for the Cangelosi Sparks in their second game of the tournament. Almazan started the game at SS, showing off his range, athletic ability, and strong arm. Making a handful of plays including snagging a ground ball through the middle followed by a strong throw to get the runner out. He would end the day on the mound flashing a 76-80 mph fastball followed by a 12-6 curveball. Almazan had a natural presence on the mound and was able to fill up the zone with both pitches and generate outs. He looks to be an all-around threat for this Cangelosi Sparks team affecting the game on both sides of the field. Also impressed at the plate with his strong right-handed swing, mature presence with above-average feel to hit for his age.
