Friedrich threw a seven-inning complete game shutout against state powerhouse New Trier. He struck out nine batters, walked one, and scattered four hits in the victory.
Stands out immediately thanks to his 6-foot-4, 242-pound workhorse, ultra-physical frame. Saw quality innings on varsity as a freshman and is currently one of the top prospects in the state. Showcased similar stuff to what we have become accustomed to seeing, just with an uptick in fastball velocity. It is a quick, strong arm that plays from a ¾ slot and gets an average of 15.4 inches of HM on his fastbal that sat 92-93, T94. He also showed a hard slider in the low-80s with short, late action and a splitter with minimal spin and an average of 16.8” of horizontal movement. Hulking specimen for a sophomore with feel to pitch and one of the strongest arms in the Midwest. Name to know moving forward.

RHP Dodger Friedrich (Lane Tech, 2028) is one of the top pitchers in the 2028 class who saw notable time on the mound this year as a freshman. A physical 6-foot-4, 216-pound frame. Up-tempo delivery with a big rocker step into a high, coiled leg lift, transitioning into a drop-and-drive move down the mound with slight crossfire. Clean arm-action from a low ¾ slot. Pounded the zone with the fastball (77 zone %) running it up to 91 mph sitting 88-90 mph. Paired it with a slider at 78-80 mph with sweep and some depth (max -14.8 HM). A high-follow in the 2028 class.
Uncommitted. Durable 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame. Got the ball to start for Lane Tech and showed to be one of the top arms in the freshman class. He has a simple delivery down the mound, while throwing from a low ¾ slot. His fastball was lively early, sitting 86-88 mph in the early stages of the game, before settling in at 83-85 mph. His go-to secondary was a 71-76 mph slider that he could throw for strikes in any count. Friedrich filled the zone throughout his outing, throwing 47 of his 66 pitches for strikes (71% strikes), while working efficiently each inning. Line: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 4 R, 2 ER, 5 K. A young name to follow this spring.
