Recruiting Essentials: NCAA Division I Academic Eligibility

In past articles we have covered the basic terms involved in the NCAA academic eligibility process as well as the NCAA Eligibility Center. Today we are going to go over NCAA academic eligibility minimum requirements.

In order to become an NCAA Qualifier at the NCAA Division I level (be on an athletics scholarship, practice and compete in your first year) you must meet the following requirements:

  • Graduate from high school.
  • Complete 16 core courses
  • Earn a minimum grade-point average in the 16 core courses
  • Earn a combined SAT or ACT sum score that lines up with your core GPA on the sliding scale
  • Be admitted to the college you are attending
