Richter has been high on my radar going back to my first look at him in his freshman season with the Panthers. Long-limbed with high hips and emerging physicality, he has the type of frame that you can dream on. Then you add in loud tools across the board, including sub 6.5 60-yard sprint speed, 90+ MPH OF arm velocity, and EVs working up into the 100+ MPH range. While showing present bat speed to be a dynamic power/speed profile CF defender who can eventually be an impact in the middle of the order bat. The tools have always been present for Richter, but it is now the operation for the RH hitter that is developing in the right direction. The swing looks more natural, the bat speed comes with less effort, the approach is advancing and polishing, while his comfort level playing is ticking up very quickly. With his profile continuing to trend up, the future for Richter continues to look brighter and brighter and is giving me plenty of Will Gasparino vibes with the frame, the athleticism, the power potential, and the impact defense.
Carson Richter, Newbury Park High (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Middle-of-the-order threat with the tools to develop into a run-producing, impact outfielder.
Body: 6-5, 213-pounds. Long-limbed, well-proportioned build that blends athleticism with strength.
Hit: RHH. Starts from a wide, firmly planted base. Hands set high near the back ear, working with a rhythmic pre-pitch movement that keeps them engaged. Upper body carries a slight lean back, adding leverage into the swing. Utilizes a compact, controlled leg lift to initiate forward momentum. Hands drift upward into a high launch position, creating separation and storing energy. Hands and hips fire together in a connected sequence, allowing the lower half to drive while the upper half delivers the barrel efficiently through the zone with controlled aggression.
Power: 101 max exit velocity, averaged 94.7 mph. 329' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-93 mph. Loose and whippy arm action, generating quick arm speed with minimal effort. The follow-through features a pronounced recoil. Possesses arm strength that plays well as a CF profile.
Defense: Moves with purpose and efficiency in his footwork. Utilizes quick, deliberate steps to set up throws, followed by long, explosive strides in the crow-hop to generate momentum.

When you see Richter, the profile screams athlete. Richter showcased just that, starting with an event topping 60-yard dash at 6.64 seconds. His top speed was recorded at 21.5 mph, 0.8 mph faster than the next person. While speed is a big part of his game, the physicality in the frame is also what catches the eye. At 6-foot-5, Richter weighs in at a filled-out 215.2 lbs with plenty of strength throughout the build. He showed off 84 mph bat speed and generated exit velocities in excess of 100 mph, with the top being 103.9 mph. He also threw 93 mph from the outfield. Richter hopped in game and immediately made an impact, smashing a double down the line in LF for an easy double. The raw tools and overall athleticism, paired with performance in game, make Richter a name to follow this summer.
Richter is an impressive physical prospect who has grown to just a tick under 6’5 (easily 6’5 in cleats) while starting to add strength to his frame which gives him an intriguing looking frame with sound athleticism across the board. While we always say the “little guy” needs time to develop, we often forget the “bigger kid” may need time to develop his full coordination to tap into the tools their size presents them. Richter got spotty playing time on varsity as a Fr. before moving into a full-time role this spring for the Panthers and for those who have been around this game long enough the strides the RH hitting power profile prospect has made from 2024 into 2025 have him directly on an upward path. The swing is uphill with loft in the contact profile which plays directly to the power in Richter’s profile and with any uphill path bat speed will be imperative to success to allow the hitter to get to contact and Richter is showing noticeably more bat speed now then in 2024 (a product of the strength he is beginning to add while being more comfortable with his body coordination) which flashed at times over a full year of varsity level at bats with six doubles and a homer (33% of his hits going for extra bases). He is solid present athlete who moves with confidence in RF showing the arm strength, athletic ability and feel for the position to remain in the corner OF long term. There is still rawness and development ahead of Richter to fully tap into all the potential in his profile, but the improvements he has made in the last 12+ months of following this young man have me confident he will stay on the upward trajectory he is currently on which would put him amongst not only the best 2027 players in Ventura County, but amongst the best 2027 recruits in the state of California in the future.
