Starting pitching would hold strong for both teams for the first 4 innings. However West Oak was powered by a 6-run 5^th inning that included RBI’s from Kurt Rogers, and Carlos Escamilla, as well as an Error and a Wild Pitch. Austin Stephens would continue to throw a gem for West Oak, only allowing 2 hits on the day. West Oak forces a game 3 to decide the 3A State Championship.

Austin Stephens, RHP, West Oak, 2021
Western Carolina commit.  Threw well and established some room to his ceiling.  Stephens went the distance keeping Gilbert hitters off balance the entire time. Fastball had some run on it, with the ability to jam hitters and create soft contact.
