All-Star Coaching Staff Announced for 2025 Prep Baseball All-American Game
August 13, 2025
Prep Baseball is thrilled to unveil the coaching staff for the third annual Prep Baseball All-American Game, set to take place at loanDepot Park in Miami on Saturday, Sept. 20. The event has become the premier amateur baseball showcase in the country, and it will once again feature the top high school talent in the nation, this time representing both the 2026 and 2027 graduating classes.
In keeping with the event’s mission to create a big league experience for its athletes, the 2025 All-American Game will feature a dugout lineup of former MLB All-Stars and seasoned baseball professionals, led by Sean Casey, who will manage the Class of 2026 team, and Brandon Guyer, the 2027 manager.
“It’s a true honor to manage some of the best young talent in the country,” said Casey. “These are future Major Leaguers in the making. I can’t wait to watch them showcase their skills and seize the moment.”
Guyer echoed the excitement of returning to the All-American Game: “I truly am fired up to be back as one of the managers at the Prep Baseball All-American Game. It's such a special event, and there’s nothing better than being alongside the nation’s best and getting a glimpse at the next generation of elite ballplayers.”
Both managers also shared advice for the athletes heading to Miami in September.
Casey encouraged players to value every opportunity, never take a moment for granted, and fully commit to the experience. He emphasized the importance of cherishing teammates and building relationships that will last beyond the game.
“Above all, always respect this beautiful game – and play it all out,” he said.
Guyer stressed the importance of embracing the moment and trusting the ability that earned them a spot on this stage.
“Compete with confidence,” he said. “And most importantly, have fun and be grateful for the opportunity to be out there among the best in the country.”
CLASS OF 2026 COACHING STAFF:
- Sean Casey, Manager: A fan-favorite, three-time MLB All-Star and current MLB Network analyst, Casey played 12 seasons in the big leagues, primarily with the Cincinnati Reds, where he earned a place in the team’s Hall of Fame. He finished his stellar pro career with a .302 batting average, 130 home runs, and 735 RBIs in the MLB. Casey was hired as the New York Yankees' hitting coach in the middle of the 2023 season before returning to his role on MLB Network, where you can still watch him just about everyday.
- Jason Grilli, Pitching Coach: A 15-year MLB veteran and 2013 All-Star, Grilli pitched for nine MLB clubs, accumulating 79 career saves and nearly 700 strikeouts during his standout career. He was known for his resiliency in the sport which eventually earned him the trust of his managers, becoming a dependable high-leverage arm in the second-half of his professional career.
- Johnny Damon, Hitting Coach: A two-time MLB All-Star and two-time World Series champion, Damon was one of the game’s most dynamic leadoff hitters across his long MLB career, finishing with 2,769 hits, 235 home runs, and 408 stolen bases. He was one of the game’s most energetic and exciting players across his entire 18-year career in the big leagues. Damon is probably most known for playing a pivotal role in helping the Red Sox win an historic and memorable World Series championship in 2004.
- Andy Urban & David Sharp, Bench Coaches: Urban is Prep Baseball’s Central Region Supervisor, and he’s been with the company since 2017. He was a decorated college baseball player, especially during his time at Hutchison CC, where he finished as one of the program’s best-ever pitchers before he went on to coaching at Central Missouri University. As for Sharp, he is the Prep Baseball Deep South Supervisor. He joined the company in 2018 after a legendary coaching career in Alabama that led him to a stint with USA Baseball where he became the organization’s Developmental Coach of the Year in 2017.
CLASS OF 2027 COACHING STAFF:
- Brandon Guyer, Manager: Guyer brings a wealth of experience to his role as manager, having played in the Major Leagues for close to a decade. Before his professional career began, Guyer starred at the University of Virginia, where he excelled from 2005-2007. He went on to make history in his 2011 MLB debut by homering in his first professional at-bat, becoming the 108th player in the league's history to do so. Renowned for his resilience and hard-nosed approach to the game, Guyer’s physical traits were only enhanced by the care and attention he paid to his mental skill set, which is something he’s helping players of all ages train and practice with his newfound work as founder of “Major League Mindset.” He’s also Prep Baseball’s official mental strength coach.
- Jacob Turner, Pitching Coach: Turner was the ninth overall pick in the 2009 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers out of Westminster Christian Academy in Town and Country, Mo., where he became one of the top high school prospects in the country. He made his Major League debut in 2011 and he went on to play in parts of six more MLB seasons with five total organizations before spending a year playing in the KBO League. All in all, Turner tallied 369 career MLB innings before he retired. He’s since co-founded Moment Private Wealth in order to help families create and sustain wealth, an official partner of Prep Baseball since 2024.
- Yan Gomes, Hitting Coach: Gomes joins this coaching staff after a decorated playing career. After amateur stops at the University of Tennessee and Barry University, Gomes was drafted by the Blue Jays in 2009 and when he made his MLB Debut for the club in 2012, he became the first Brazilian-born player to appear in the Majors. Upon being traded to Cleveland, he went on to win the American League Silver Slugger Award at catcher in 2014 and earn an All-Star appearance for the club in 2018. He helped the Nationals win the World Series in 2019, his first year with the team, and he wrapped up his 12-year career by playing in parts of three seasons with the Cubs, finishing as one of the league’s most respected catchers.
- Les Lukach & Kevin Moulder, Bench Coaches: Lukach is Prep Baseball’s California State Director, and he’s been a longtime figure in the SoCal baseball community, where he coached high school. Moulder is the Prep Baseball Missouri State Director and he brings the most coaching experience in either dugout to the All-American Game. He spent 16 years as a college coach with stops at Lake City Community College (FL), Central Missouri, Saint Louis, Murray State, and two years at Jefferson College before becoming Prep Baseball's Missouri director in 2020.
"The opportunity to learn from former big leaguers and respected coaches gives players a unique developmental edge," said Sean Duncan, President of Prep Baseball. "This coaching staff reflects what the All-American Game is all about: experience, passion, and a deep love for the game. We can’t wait to see these coaches bring their energy and knowledge of the game to Miami in September."
Returning to the home of the Miami Marlins, the 2025 All-American Game promises to build on the success of its previous editions, showcasing the next wave of stars in a head-to-head battle between the best high school juniors and seniors in the nation. As in years past, players will participate in a pro-style workout and home run derby on Friday, Sept. 19, prior to Saturday's main event.
