Week in Review returns with the 2026 MLB Draft on the mind with an updated Class of 2026 rankings and the second iteration of the Mock Draft and Draft Board were released by Draft HQ. ‘The War Room’ talks about the preseason top–100 JUCO rankings, uncommitted spotlights, exclusive Prep Baseball Shop deals and more.


RANKINGS - 2026

Before the new year kicks off, Prep Baseball presents its latest rankings for the Class of 2026. The top features familiar names like two-time All-American Game alumnus in Jacob Lombard (Gulliver Prep, FL, Miami commit), Gio Rojas (Stoneman Douglas HS, FL, Miami commit), Carson Bolemon (Southside Christian HS, SC, Wake Forest commit) and more. With the spring season and 2026 MLB Draft on the horizon, see who the top prospects in the senior prep class are nationally and in their respective states.

DRAFT HQ  

2026 MLB Mock Draft: After the MLB Draft Lottery on Tuesday, December 9, the draft order is set with the Chicago White Sox picking first overall. After the initial mock draft following the 2025 MLB Draft, Prep Baseball scouts took in a full fall season to catch the prep Class of 2026 and college prospects before putting together the latest prediction ahead of the White Sox’ first overall pick since 1977. Prep prospects have used the fall to their advantage and with a set first round, 19 of the first 37 selections are projected to be from the high school ranks, led by the Class of 2026’s No. 1 prospect and All-American Game MVP, Jacob Lombard (Gulliver Prep, FL, Miami commit). 2026 MLB Draft Board Top-200: Following the second mock draft, Draft HQ unveiled the second draft board for 2026. Similar to the mock, the fall provided a glimpse into the spring seasons of some of the draft’s top prospects as well as movement with a new number one. The latest edition also features not only a newcomer to the Draft Board, but to the 2026 draft class with All-American Game catcher Will Brick (Christian Brothers HS, TN) reclassifying from 2027 to 2026. There are also seven prep risers into the top-100 as the board expands to 200 players, hinting at a wider pool of prospects that can make an impact at the professional level. More>>

 

2021 MLB Draft: The 2021 MLB Draft was the first iteration of its current state with 20 rounds (As opposed to 2020’s five and 40 until 2019). Reverse of how most top-MLB performers from the 2020 draft, the following year’s class top 10 in WAR consist of eight who were selected out of college. In the fourth edition of the five-part MLB Draft review, Director of College Scouting, David Seifert highlights the top performing players, teams and their efficiency in building for the future. The War Room: In the latest edition of ‘The War Room’, Vice President of Scouting, Shooter Hunt and Director of College Scouting, David Seifert are joined by North Texas Scouting Director, Max Semler and Central Region Scouting Supervisor, Andy Urban to talk about the preseason top 100.

With the fall schedule wrapped up, Prep Baseball scouts have had plenty of action to sit on and help evaluate who’s the best of the best across the country. Preseason ID: Before the 2026 spring season, the Preseason ID event kicks off as an identifier event for scouts and college recruiters to start their list of prospects to follow. Prospects have also shown some of their best performances in the event being at their freshest after rest and targeted off-season training, resulting in big gains, updating their Prep Baseball profile.

Strategically planned throughout each respective state, the Preseason ID event helps find new prospects to add to our following lists and highlight familiar players who are on the rise. See more about an upcoming Preseason ID event near you and sign up.

Rising Stars ID: Geared towards the 13U and 14U prospects in the classes of 2030 and 2031, the Rising Stars ID serves as an introductory event to Prep Baseball. A starting point for any player with aspirations to play at the next level, the Rising Stars is an educational experience that guides a prospect through the process of a showcase.

The event takes players through the basic skills testing with a more hands-on approach from scouting directors and staff to help create the baseline for prospects to improve upon in their careers. It will also introduce them to the data aspects behind the technology that sets Prep Baseball and its evaluation apart. The Rising Stars ID will also act as an identifier for future events such as the Junior Future Games at LakePoint Sports and provide an early preview into players who may end up on Prep Baseball rankings. Fall ID: The fall served as a prime opportunity for prospects to start their journey to play at the next level. Leading into the winter Prep Baseball hosted its Fall ID events across the country, serving as an identifier for invitational events like the State Games, Preseason All-State, Top Prospect and national marquee events like Future Games, Super 60 and the All-American Game.
