2026 OUTLOOK

+ Alcorn Central enters the 2026 season looking to take a step forward in District 1-3A after a 13–16 campaign that ended in the First Round of the playoffs. Under head coach Trae Bain, the Bears return a solid group of upperclass contributors along with a promising wave of underclass talent that adds depth and upside across the roster.

The Bears’ lineup will be led by a trio of experienced returners. Jackson Miller (2026) brings versatility and two-way value, contributing both in the lineup and on the mound. Jayse Johnson (2026) provides stability on the left side of the infield with the ability to impact the game offensively, while Ty Whitten (2027) adds athleticism and flexibility between the middle infield and outfield.

On the mound, Jarrett Thomas (2026) returns as the top arm in the staff. The left-hander also provides value in the outfield, giving Alcorn Central a reliable two-way piece capable of setting the tone in district play.

Several additional names bolster the roster’s depth. Landon Brooks (2026) offers versatility as a catcher, infielder, and right-handed arm, while the 2027 class features multiple contributors including Kreed McCoy, Lukas Gore, Riley Shelton, and Hunter Parks, all of whom give the Bears athletic depth and lineup options.

A young group of newcomers adds intrigue heading into the season. Zane Depoyster (2028) headlines the underclass group as a left-handed arm with upside, joined by Tucker Kaufman (2028), Braylen Parrish (2028), and Keedin Terry (2029), who will all look to push for roles as the year progresses.

With returning experience, improved depth, and a growing group of young contributors, Alcorn Central has the pieces in place to compete in District 1-3A and work toward a deeper postseason run in 2026.
