Q&A with Cincinnati recruit Colin Murphy

Prep Baseball AZ

We recently caught up with Colin Murphy (Chandler HS, AZ | 2027) to discuss his commitment and the path he’s taken through the recruiting process. Murphy has been on the rise during his time at Chandler, emerging as a high-follow prospect as his game has continued to trend upward. With his recruitment now complete, Murphy reflected on his development, the belief that carried him through the process, and the factors that ultimately led him to his decision. His full Q&A can be found below.

OUR Q&A

PB: What were your expectations about the recruiting process, and what were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Colin: I was looking for a strong culture.

PB: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Colin: The coaches and strength coach were major factors. Their belief in me meant a lot, along with the opportunity to compete in the Big 12 and the quality of the facilities and campus.

PB: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Colin: Keep working hard and believe in yourself no matter what.

PB: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

Colin: No.

PB: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you, and where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Colin: Late September to early October of 2025. They first saw me play in Florida at a tournament.

PB: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Colin: I have always believed that I was a D1 caliber player, even when others may have had their doubts.

PB: Preview your high school team’s season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

Colin: Our team has three current D1 commits and one D3 commit. We also have at least three players who I believe will play Division I that are not currently committed. I am confident we will compete for the Arizona 6A state championship this year.
