Throughout the Mississippi High School Playoffs, we have decided to highlight some of the top performances from game play each week. Last week each classification competed in the Final 4 of their given bracket. In this article, you will see some standout performances from each class in the Final 4 Round.

PLAYOFF PERFORMERS: FINAL 4 EDITION

 

CLASS 7A

+ Walker Hooks (Brandon) threw 7 innings, allowing 3 runs, 1 earned, with 8 strikeouts in a win over Northwest Rankin. 

+ Cameron Keyes (Brandon) went 4 for 7 with a double, triple, and 2 RBI’s in 2 wins versus Northwest Rankin. 

+ Xavier Myles (Brandon) went 3 for 6 with a double and 3 RBI’s in 2 wins over Northwest Rankin.

+ Ethan Trimble (Brandon) went 2 for 3 with 5 RBI’s in 2 wins over Northwest Rankin. 

+ Jack Scott (Northwest Rankin) went 4 for 5 with 3 runs scored in 2 games versus Brandon.

+ Thomas Mitchell (Hernando) threw 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 unearned run, with 13 strikeouts In a Game 1 win over Oxford. 

+ Luke Romine (Hernando) threw 7 innings of shutout baseball, scattering 5 hits, with 7 strikeouts in a Game 2 win over Oxford. 

+ Preston Johnson (Hernando) threw 3 scoreless innings, allowing no hits to earn the win in a series clinching victory over Oxford. 

+ Brady Stinnett (Oxford) threw 6 innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, with 7 strikeouts in a game versus Hernando. 

+ Jack Harper (Oxford) went 4 for 6 with 2 doubles and an rbi in 2 games versus Hernando. 

 

CLASS 6A

+ Brooks Willoughby (Warren Central) threw a CG no hitter with 8 strikeouts in a series clinching win over Center Hill. 

+ Hayes Loper (Warren Central) went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI’s in 2 wins over Center Hill.

+ Jacob Johnson (Pearl River Central) threw 4 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits with 6 strikeouts in a Game 1 win over George County.

+ Preston McAdory (George County) threw 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 earned run, with 6 strikeouts In a Game 2 win over Pearl River Central. 

 

CLASS 5A

+ Tanner Harris (Lafayette) threw a CG shutout, allowing 2 hits, while striking out 5 in a series clinching win over New Hope.

+ Brody Breithaupt (Lafayette) went 3 for 7 with a double and 2 RBI’s in 2 wins over New Hope.

+ Balin Bishop (Lafayette) went 4 for 6 with an rbi in 2 wins versus New Hope. 

+ Conner Lewis (New Hope) threw 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, no earned runs, with 2 strikeouts in a game versus Lafayette.

+ Hunter Harper (Vancleave) threw 7 innings, allowing 6 hits, 1 unearned run, with 7 strikeouts in a Game 1 win over South Jones. 

+ Tyler West (Vancleave) threw a CG shutout, allowing 2 hit with 7 strikeouts in a series clinching win over South Jones. 

+ Martin Shaw (Vancleave) went 3 for 6 with 3 RBI’s in 2 wins over South Jones. 

+ Foster Crockett (Lafayette) went 2 for 6 with a home run, double and 4 RBI's in 2 games versus Lafayette. 

 

CLASS 4A

+ Hunter Kuhl (Ripley) went 2 for 5 with a home run, 2 doubles and 7 RBI’s in 2 wins over South Pontotoc.

+ Tanner Allen (Ripley) went 3 for 7 with 6 rbi’s in 2 wins versus South Pontotoc. 

+ Jack Reid (Ripley) went 3 for 6 with a home run, double, and 3 RBI’s in 2 wins over South Pontotoc. 

+ Cooper Davis (Ripley) threw 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned, with 5 strikeouts, in a series clinching win over South Pontotoc. 

+ Jack Miller (Sumrall) went 4 for 8 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI’s in 2 wins over Purvis. 

+ Cade Clinton (Sumrall) went 3 for 8 with a double and 3 RBI’s in 2 wins versus 

+ Malik McNair (Sumrall) went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s in 2 wins versus Purvis. 

+ Stephen Maust (Sumrall) went 4 for 4 with a double and an rbi in a Game 1 win versus 

+ Joseph Parker (Purvis) went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, a double and 3 RBI’s in 2 games versus Sumrall.

 

CLASS 3A

+ Carson Norwood (East Webster) threw 5 innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run, with 5 strikeouts in a series clinching win over Mooreville. Also went 3 for 6 with a double and 3 RBI’s in 2 games. 

+ Kouper Shook (East Webster) went 4 for 8 with a home run and 4 RBI’s in 2 wins over Mooreville.

+ Briceton Johnson (East Webster) went 4 for 5 with a home run, double and 5 RBI’s in 2 games versus Mooreville.

+ Stephen Eakes (Southeast Lauderdale) threw 8 shutout innings, allowing 5 hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks in a Game 1 win over West Marion.

+ Kolby Stringer (West Marion) threw 8 innings, allowing 4 hits, no runs, while striking out 12 in a game versus Southeast Lauderdale.

 

CLASS 2A

+ Landon Harmon (East Union) threw 5 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit, with 10 strikeouts in a Game 1 win over Hamilton. Also went 3 for 7 with a home run, double, and 2 RBI’s. 

+ Justin Word (St. Andrew's) went 3 for 8 with a double and 6 RBI’s in 2 games versus Clarkdale.

+ Rolen Fanning (St. Andrew's) went 3 for 6 with 3 RBI’s and 5 runs scored in 2 games versus Clarkdale. 

+ Boyd McCullouch (St. Andrew's) threw a CG shutout, allowing 5 hits, with 2 strikeouts in a series clinching win over Clarkdale. 

+ Stone Myrick (St. Andrew's) went 3 for 6 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s in 2 wins versus Clarkdale. 

+ Walker Van Meter (St. Andrew's) went 3 for 6 with a double and 2 RBI’s in 2 wins versus Clarkdale. 

 

CLASS 1A

+ Ford Matthew (Taylorsville) threw 6 2/3 innings, scattering 8 hits, allowing 1 run, with 13 strikeouts in a Game 1 win over Resurrection Catholic. Also went 5 for 8 in the series with a 2 doubles. 

+ Terry Barnes (Taylorsville) threw 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, with 4 strikeouts in a series clinching Game 3 win over Resurrection Catholic. 

+ Trace Tingle (Resurrection Catholic) threw a CG no hitter with 11 strikeouts in a Game 2 win over Taylorsville. 

+ Peyton Cornelius (Pine Grove) threw 6 2/3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, with 9 strikeouts in a Game 1 win over Biggersville. 

+ Brittan Fryar (Pine Grove) went 5 for 11 with a home run, a double, 6 runs, and 3 RBI’s in 3 games versus Biggersville. 

+ Tanner Pannell (Pine Grove) went 5 for 10 with 2 RBI’s in 3 games versus Biggersville.

+ Coy Childs (Pine Grove) went 4 for 10 with 6 RBI’s in 3 games versus Biggersville. 

+ Tre Gunn (Biggersville) went 3 for 5 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI’s in 3 games versus Pine Grove.
