National Player of the Week: 3/9 to 3/15

By Andy Sroka
National Managing Editor, Scouting

Today, we’re announcing our third National Player of the Week of the 2026 campaign, as the warm-weather states in the country have begun their spring seasons in earnest.

The following players were submitted by their coaches to our state directors and they went on to earn the Player or Pitcher of the Week award in those states. From there, we sifted through the country’s POTWs and selected the top performer among them, singling them out as the sole National Player of the Week. If you’re a coach interested in submitting a nomination this season but have not yet received that form so far this spring, visit our staff directory to find the contact information for the state director overseeing your state’s season coverage.

Our staff took player stat lines from the week of March 9 to 15 into account when determining these awards.

🏆 NATIONAL POTW

Kaden Longman RHP / C / Newcastle HS, OK / 2026

HUTCHINSON JC COMMIT

“During OSSAA's second week of action, Longman was a massive part of the Racers' undefeated week that saw him go 8-for-14 with four homers, three doubles and he tallied 14 RBIs. On the mound, the right-hander fired five innings and allowed just one hit, and punched out 15 batters. We have seen Longman up to 94 mph paired with a wipeout slider so it comes as no surprise to see the success he had this week.”

– Bret Schwartz, Oklahoma Scouting Director

STATE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Alabama

+ Kamrin Jenkins, SS (Bob Jones HS, 2026) | Mizzou:
“The Missouri recruit and Super 60 attendee was nearly unstoppable at the plate, going 8-for-10 (.800) with three home runs, a triple, and three doubles while driving in six runs and scoring five more. Jenkins also showed his ability to impact the game in multiple ways, drawing three walks and swiping three bases throughout the week.”

– David Sharp, Deep South Supervisor

(2/23/26)

Arizona

+ Reed Ross, C (Phoenix Country Day HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Phoenix Country Day’s Reed Ross delivered one of the most prolific power-hitting displays in Arizona high school history this week, earning 'Hitter of the Week' honors. The junior catcher was an absolute force, putting up perfect multi-hit performances in every contest. Ross punctuated his record-breaking week against Fountain Hills on March 12, where he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three home runs and five RBIs. In the process, Ross surpassed the school's single-season home run record with eight total blasts on the year. Currently leading the state in home runs, the 2027 standout finished the week hitting .900 with a staggering 2.387 OPS.

"In total, Ross went 10-for-11 on the week with four homers, two doubles, a triple, seven RBIs and he scored nine runs.”

(10/26/25)

+ Patrick Bromund, LHP (Higley HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Higley sophomore Patrick Bromund turned in a masterclass on the mound this week, earning the state's 'Pitcher of the Week' honors for a historically dominant outing. The left-hander was untouchable against ALA-Queen Creek, firing a complete game no-hitter to secure the victory for the Knights. Bromund displayed elite command throughout the contest, racking up six strikeouts across his five innings of work with zero walks. By consistently working ahead in counts and neutralizing bats with a sharp three-pitch mix, Bromund has quickly established himself as a frontline starter for Higley.”

– Antonio Torres, Arizona Scouting Director

(8/23/25)

Arkansas

+ Griffin Vick, RHP (Little Rock Christian HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Over two appearances in Week Two of Arkansas' spring season, Vick threw 8.2 innings, allowing no runs on just two hits, two walks and he recorded six strikeouts. The first outing was a clean 1.2-inning relief stint and the second was a dominant complete-game 7-inning no-hitter (0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K). Overall, it was an excellent week as Vick showed the ability to both relieve and pitch deep into a game while giving his team the chance to win.”

– Mikel Howell, Arkansas Asst. Director

(2/25/26)

Colorado

+ Josh Weaver, RHP/INF (Fruita Monument HS, 2026) | Cowley JC:
“Weaver kicks off Colorado's first featured 'Pitcher of the Week' after a nearly spotless nine innings on the mound. In Fruita Monument’s first game of the season, Weaver came on in relief and tossed two innings, retiring every batter he faced by way of the strikeout against Vista Peak.

"On Saturday, Weaver got the start against Ponderosa and picked up right where he left off, dominating for all seven innings with zero runs and zero walks allowed, surrendering just five hits while piling up another 12 strikeouts in the win.

"The Future Games alum is clearly continuing to build momentum on the mound, and he brings plenty of two-way upside as well. At the plate, Weaver is already hitting .429 on the season with two doubles and two stolen bases.

"Weaver features a fastball that works around 90 mph with an actively developing arsenal, and he’ll be taking his talents to Cowley JC after this spring.”

+ Jeter McArthur, OF (Riverdale Ridge HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“McArthur has quickly become an uncommitted bat to know in the state after belting three home runs in a single game last Thursday against Montbello.

"The senior turned in a huge opening week of CHSAA play, going 4-for-5 overall while compiling four RBIs on three homers, a triple and five runs scored with two walks and a stolen base – good for an eye-popping .800 average to begin the spring.

"The multi-sport athlete and centerfielder looks to be a major threat at the top of the lineup for the Riverdale Ridge Ravens, and he’s emerging as a name to watch closely throughout the season.”

– Caleb Dameron, Colorado Staff

Florida

+ Andrew Almond, OF (Buchholz HS, 2026) | Northwest Florida State JC:
“Buchholz senior Andrew Almond put on a clinic at the plate this week, earning Hitter of the Week honors with a staggering offensive performance. The Northwest Florida State commit was the engine of the Bobcats' offense, going a remarkable 6-for-9 at the dish while crossing the plate for seven runs scored. He inflicted damage whenever he made contact, driving in seven RBIs and collecting four extra-base hits. His extra-base production included two doubles and two home runs. In all, he was 6-for-9 with two homers, two doubles, and seven RBIs.”

(9/13/25)

+ Wilson Shaw, LHP (Lemon Bay HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Lemon Bay junior Wilson Shaw delivered a masterclass on the mound, earning Pitcher of the Week honors with a dominant start. The 2027 southpaw was a strikeout machine for the Manta Rays, racking up a staggering 16 strikeouts. Shaw tossed six shutout innings, scattering just three hits while keeping the opposition entirely off the scoreboard.”

– Rocco Iervasi, Florida Director of Operations

Louisiana

+ John Parker Trahan, SS (Opelousas Catholic  HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Opelousas Catholic turned in a perfect 4-0 week, erupting for 31 total runs, and senior John Parker Trahan was at the center of the offensive surge. The uncommitted senior set the tone early with a 2-for-6 effort against Rayne, highlighted by a game-winning RBI double in the 14th inning.

"He followed that up with another strong showing against Tioga, going 2-for-3 with a home run and a double, before delivering his most dominant performance of the week in a win over Dunham. In that contest, Trahan went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBIs, finishing just a triple shy of the cycle. He capped off his standout week with a 1-for-3 performance against Notre Dame, launching another home run and driving in two more runs.

"All told, Trahan finished the week 9-for-16 (.563) with three home runs, four doubles, eight RBIs, and seven runs scored, playing a pivotal role in the Vikings’ undefeated stretch last week and continuing to elevate his offensive profile as the season progresses.”

+ Alex Richardson, RHP/SS (Belle Chasse HS, 2026) | Southern Miss:
“Richardson has been on the short list for the state's 'Pitcher of the Week' honors multiple times this spring, so it came as no surprise that the Southern Miss recruit finally secured the award in Week Five after another dominant stretch on both sides of the ball.

"He first made his impact last Tuesday against Willow, entering in relief to lock down the final inning and earn the save, allowing no hits or walks while striking out all three batters he faced. Richardson then returned on Thursday in a starting role against the same opponent and delivered a statement outing, tossing six shutout innings while giving up just four hits with no walks and 13 strikeouts to pick up the win.

"As impressive as his work was on the mound, Richardson also provided significant offensive production. He finished the week hitting .538 with a home run, two doubles, and five RBIs, underscoring his value as a true two-way contributor and one of the most impactful performers in the state this spring.”

– Alex Armand, Louisiana State Director

(1/26/26)

Mississippi

+ Henry Abt, OF (Hartfield Academy HS, 2026) | Southern Miss:
“The former Future Gamer and Southern Miss recruit had a nearly perfect week at the plate for the Hawks. Abt collected 9 hits in 10 at-bats including three home runs, two doubles, eight runs scored, and eight RBIs. On the year, Abt is leading the Hawks with a .596 batting average.”

– Matt Miller, Mississippi State Director

Nevada

+ Rookie Shepard, SS (Faith Lutheran HS, 2026) | Miami:
“Nevada’s No. 1-ranked prospect and Miami signee, Rookie Shepard, earned the state's 'Player of the Week' honors following a stretch of clinical hitting that has seen him become one of the toughest outs in the state. Shepard’s week was highlighted by a perfect 3-for-3 performance against Bonanza on March 11, where he drove in two runs and crossed the plate three times. Even in a tough slate against Centennial and Vauxhall Academy, Shepard remained a steady force, reaching base safely in every contest and maintaining an elite .722 season batting average, finishing his week 9-for-11 in total.”

– Brett Harrison, Mountain West Supervisor

North Carolina

+ Chase White, RHP (South Central HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Chase White delivered a dominant performance last Tuesday, striking out 11 over five innings in a no-hitter for South Central. He was highly efficient throughout, throwing 77 percent strikes on just 60 pitches and facing only one batter over the minimum.

With the outing, White improves to 2-0 on the season with a 2.33 ERA across nine innings. He has allowed just three hits and three runs while striking out 16 and holding opponents to a .094 batting average. South Central capped the week with a 2-0 record.”

(2/11/26)

+ Colby Epperly, UTL/RHP (Ardrey Kell HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Colby Epperly turned in one of the top all-around performances in the state this week, impacting the game both at the plate and on the mound. The senior, who represented Team Carolina at the 2025 Senior Future Games, put together a dominant offensive stretch, doubling twice, homering once, and totaling six runs scored with six RBIs while hitting .818 and slugging 1.182.

He also contributed on the mound, tossing five scoreless innings in a Friday outing to cap the week. Behind Epperly’s standout play, Ardrey Kell finished 3-0 on the week.”

– Brandon Hall, Mid-Atlantic Director of Scouting

(2/23/26)

South Carolina

+ Camden Finley, OF (Clinton HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Camden Finley had huge performances last week for Clinton. He was on fire at the plate, hitting .500 on the week, with three homers that helped him score six times with seven RBIs.”

– Sammy Esposito, South Carolina Scouting Director

(2/11/26)

Washington

+ Angelo White, OF (Seattle Prep HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“The sophomore outfielder had a big first week of game play, finishing 4-for-9 over three games played. White slugged a home run and a triple, scoring four runs and driving five RBIs at the top of Seattle Prep's lineup. Angelo was last seen at West Coast Super Sophomore Games last fall, where he showed similar offensive skill, and will be a name to watch moving forward.”
